If for visa Reason, it is daft.

Would they ask the same to Chinese?

Go and check well.

Every Chinese that migrated to uk legally in the past 15 years passed TOEFL very well. And so therefore, can write and speak passable English language.

Why is everything seen as discrimination here?

Useless man of no integrity, this is what he should have used his useless life and time to be doing, maybe he would have had some regard instead of going back to his vomit to lick 80yrs old grandpa's anüs just because of political appointment.

Maybe his lost senses are coming back as he hasn't gotten any settlement appointment yet, yeye Omockery undecided

Commonwealth Nations are supposed to be exempted from English competency test, but then it's a money making avenue for the British and other English speaking countries with globally accepted English language competency test like the IELTS

They actually do ask them.

I taught many Chinese intending tourists before their appointment with the high commission.

Everything is not racism.

I do not believe the English question would apply to a tourist visiting Britain from China.

If you have evidence, please provide it.

True.

But…

1. Most Nigerians have very poor command of written spoken and written English even after school. Our English proficiency was top notch in the 60s, 70s and 80s even with little education then. And these guys almost never denied anyone visa because English proficiency.

2. Commonwealth union is no longer as together as before. Many people are on their own now.

For a group of people who misuse words during their written conversation, I argue that Nigerians MUST continue to write English proficiency tests whether they like it or not. These are the same people who ask "English na my papa language?" when corrected. Are the Chinese and Russians doing badly because they don't speak English properly? Forgetting that in both countries, English is NOT the OFFICIAL language of communication.

"There" for their
"Were" for where
"Leave" for live
“Axe” for ask
“Borrow” for Lend (Iyin Aboyeji, an urbane elite, used borrow rather than lend in one of his tweets).

Nigerians MUST continue to write the IELTS/TOEFL/PTE. I will write to the British Council to ensure this happens regardless of Reno's rants. Never should the test be scrapped for Nigerians. They MUST WRITE IT!

I think we are saying the same thing.

Though a tourist visa may not require that.

However, it’s their life and rule.

B1 visa which is a business or tourist visa requires applicants from China to have a passable command in English.

How would you even do business or visit places without little knowledge of the local language you are traveling to?

https://www.gov.uk/skilled-worker-visa/knowledge-of-english#:~:text=You%20must%20prove%20you%20can,for%20Languages%20(%20CEFR%20)%20scale.

Are you trying to be crafty, or just plain ignorant?

How can you paste the requirements for skilled workers to serve as evidence for tourists?

Na wa oh.

for tourist visa you don’t need to know how to speak English.
For permanent residency in most countries you must write language test. Below is permanent residency per country for Canada in 2023. Every one they granted the PR had to write Ielts, celpip or TEF( french test) including the Americans

No, it’s not an insult. English may be our official language, but we all know there is a significant portion of the populace that can’t speak English. There is absolutely nothing wrong with them asking if an applicant can speak English.

But not every Nigerian can read, speak nor write well in English language. If you are coming to the UK to study or work, there is nothing wrong in proving your proficiency in the language.

they have over 20 MPs of Indian origin in the Canadian parliament. The leader of the 3rd biggest party in the parliament is an Indian. They are using their connections and influence to better their community ( some are into crime too) . This week a car theft ring was arrested in Canada ( mostly indians) apparently the Indian workers in the government agency registering cars were part of the gang.

Oyinbo say you reap what you sow.when you sell your brothers to strangers, even the strangers no go trust you

When children speak their own language at home or in school, their teachers will say "vernacular is not allowed in this school "

The same children will get home, mama and papa go say speak English.why Oyinbo no go see you finish after giving them the impression that they're superior to you.

With the influx of Chinese, ghanians etc how many foreigners do we tell to learn igbo, yoruba or hausa before they can enter.when na the worst people In terms of intelligence, morality, ethics and empathy una go carry put for office to make long term economic, political and agricultural decisions for you.

Many Nigerians are narcissistic and they tend to be attracted to narcs.if you're an educated empath you will be hated.they will call you itk,you too do,na only you, over sabi.

From the onset una no know say the baba wey una dey support be psychopath?

Same Nigerians that are always misplacing pronouns, misspelling words and using wrong tenses? The average Nigerian's written English is terrible! Worst is that majority of them claim to be graduates yet can't communicate in proper English to save their lives
