Okay.. I'm just thinking out loudly here..

I have had many instances personally where I tried to recharge my own line through by banks (not Opay and Moniepoint - those ones are very sharp with transactions).. and had failed transactions but I would be too busy to start going to the bank immediately to start claiming 500 or 1000 failed Debit. (Note I did not say 500 or 1k is too small to go and claim).

Then after a while it's forgotten. I know I'm not alone in this. Also sometimes, some transactions are debited and the customer may not be disposed to do the due follow-up to claim the transaction.

The right thing for these banks to do is to automatically reverse all failed transactions to the Source Account. Regardless of whether the Customers come to the Banking Hall Physically or not to request reversal, or whether they do so via the Mobile Apps (majority of these Bank Apps do not have these features. Kudos to the digital Banks such as Opay, Moniepoint for taking care of this)..

With the recent upgrade done by some of the commercial banks, some of the banks had customers that had failed transactions and instead of simply doing a reversal to the source accounts, the banks won't do that but expect the customers to come Physically to the Banking Hall customer service Unit to initiate a reversal. Not all customers would be disposed to do this.

That led me to the question.. what happens to all the failed transactions that are unclaimed at the end of the day. The CBN needs to come to the aid of common Nigerians by making it mandatory for the Banks to reverse all failed transactions to the Source Accounts within 48 hours.. in which failure to do so would lead to necessary penalties.

Those in the know should please educate us on what the Banks eventually do with these customers' monies in failed transactions that are unclaimed.

Every establishment done in Nigeria be it physically, online e.t.c always have penchant for kleptomania.

Imagine banks withdrawing 20 naira from your bank and they will still do it to other thousands of people that opened account with them, imagine how much they are making on our head. If you want to get peace of mind go and open opay, Kuda is the worst online bank I have ever opened, many of my money that was debited twice that I didn't go after I know say na them chop am.

I no dey gree for such. Moreover you must not go to the bank to claim such little funds. Use emails to reach out to the customer service. All the times I had such issues, I did a follow with mails and all got reversed.

This happened to me several times using Gtbank online app, it even cause a rift between me and an attendant who tagged me doing fake transfer, though later apologised. One transaction like that even want to ran me mad, it involved a large sum of money, as I'm using app, so I was using their website to check my account for reversal. What I did was calling them everyday. Sometimes it may last between 3 to 7 days after before the reversals are made. But I prefer calling than going to banking hall.

I think I read somewhere that after a while, it goes to CBN as they are the regulators of NIBSS which is in charge of such transactions

Nigerian Banks are the most fraudulent & useless Banks IN ALL THE BANKING SECTORS OF THE WORLD.

If you go to any Nigerian Bank to lodge any complaint, You must be hitting their desk very loud so that what you’re telling them sinks into their coconut heads.

They already have a “PRE-WRITTEN FORMAT” they use to scam customers that come to lodge any complaint.

If you allow any of them to use “ENGLISH” to bully you, your money is gone.

Look at how Zenith Bank sold & converted the shares of a company to its assets without the consent of the Company’s Directors?

It was also this same Zenith Bank that was sued by Femi Otedola’s Zenon Petroleum over illegal and unauthorized charges to its Accounts.

Zenith Bank was also accused of illegally & forcefully recovering the shares it already sold to Zenon Petroleum.

And guess what? The Bastard owner of Zenith Bank (Jim Ovia - With His Gorimapa Head) immediately lobbied Femi Otedola for an Out-of-Court Settlement.

If you buy shares in any Nigerian Bank and you do not have money and connections in high places to fight them; YOU ARE DEAD!
