So Igbos can no longer being their cultural heritage to Lagos?
Has it gotten to that stage?
This is like saying Okpa ( I don't know how they spell ) but it is called Babara Nut pudding should not be sold in Lagos because it is Igbo origine and many people don't like it

Yes they can't and this is not about food

Food travels, than anything

Remember that in Ilorin, The emir banned isese festival and heaven didn't fall

Let every masquerade stay in it's enclave, they don't travel

I think the operators and agencies of the laws in Lagos are getting things wrong now! Making it obvious that a certain tribe and culture cannot operate in a part of the country is unconstitutional, denial of rights and divisive !

How on earth is police supposed to interfere in this ? There are institutions that deals with tradition and culture, police are meants to uphold the law not to dictate what is law

That is very perfect from the Lagos State Police Chief.
Ndi Igbo should know that they are very much disliked now more than ever because of their aggression on their host communities.
Imagine them trying very hard to subjugate the Ikwerres. Claiming their tribe.
This Ibo tribe are very cunning and foolishly smart. They come to your place, little by little they eat deep inside of you, soon, they'll then take over the body and claim ownership.

Ibos should leave Yorubas alone, the place belongs to them. Stop the chest beating and dragging another man's place with him, it will continue to breed conflict and hatred for you people.

Where are those who love your so-called One Nigeria, have you heard the news? You are NOT allowed FREE MOVEMENT or ASSOCIATION in the country that you claim you belong to. Any Biafran that's against secession from Nigeria, you are the biggest FOOL and an IDIOT! How can you be one country, and yet you're NOT allowed to move FREELY from one part of the country to another part of the supposedly same country? NOW, tell me where else such idiocy is obtained around the world, if NOT only in Nigeria? WAKE UP, people, and see the writing on the wall...Nigeria is NOT one, has never been one, and will never be one! This, I can assure you!!

I don't even think a masquerade can travel to Lagos from Oyo, Ondo or Ekiti State. Or from Ekiti to Osun. To do what na?

These things are very localised in Yorubaland.

So localised that even within a big town, an Egungun will not go to another part of town that is not within his territory because that may cause trouble with the Egungun families in those other parts.

Some things are just best left alone.

Honestly the last election caused a lot of damage to the relationship between the yorubas and the igbos. Before now, the yorubas do not care if igbo man is Eze in Lagos, or masquerade of nnewi coming to Lagos or igbos appointed commissioners all of a sudden the yorubas are now becoming hostile to anything igbo. I would say the igbos are the architect of whatever the yorubas of Lagos are dishing out to them right now.
For peace to reign, let everyone stay in their regions and perform traditional masquerade dance as they like. It is excesses taking the gods of a region to a different region. The gods of the second region will be angry.
Before we start having sango/ogún fighting with amadioha

Culture can not operate in any part of the country where it's actions are not sanctioned by the indigenous people there.

You can't do masquerade on the streets of Kano and Lagos can't become so indifferent to all comers that it's people suffer disrespect, they have their own indigenous masquerades and rites which this masquerade may cause an unsettling of the spirits in that domain.

Did the individuals who wanted to bring the masquerade ask the permission of the king within that domain before even attempting to bring it, I think traditional respect requires this much at least.

Even in SW consequential masquerades don't just come out without reason, for instance in Lagos the Eyo masquerade play is only performed on very rare occasions such as the death or crowning ot a new king or very high chief.

As a honest Anambra man, I must confess, that even nursing the thought of bringing masquerade from far away Anambra State to Lagos is a clear indication that Igbos are going beyond thier boundaries... Even yorubas from Osun or Oyo State don't do that, let's stop doing things that will make others persecute us even in our bussinesses. The concept of Authority is a strict concept that must be taken into cognizance if we all want to be at peace with everyone. Thanks.

Can someone go to court against this?
No constitutional provision prohibits movement of people or objects from one part of the country to the other.

It will be absurd to see Ololu masquerade from Ibadan or Agemo from Ijebu parading in Lagos. Sounds very strange for an ancestral spirit. Masquerades are localised to the best of my knowledge. I've never heard of a masquerade going to another town on a visit.

The thought of a masquerade in a bus travelling several hours across tribal borders beggers belief.

What if area boys attack the 'foreign' masquerade in Lagos, and then another lengthy round of blame game will feel the air on radio and social media about who to blame.

Tax reform blame game is still ongoing and confusing many.

I think most Nigerians just want a bit of peace right now.

Masquerade should remain and operate in his indigenous territory please.
