Are there solar solutions and tech that reduce size of panels? Coz all the big watt panels around Europe I see are still all very big. They can weight 30kg.

Any new tech?
At least, I know of the Ecoflow 400-watts panel. It's just the expensive nature; that's why people often go for the traditional panels...

Weight is 16kg (35.3lbs)

In my case, I foresaw these logistics delays, plus delays in confirming my payment if I pay online, so I decided to go their office at Omole, paid there, and instructed them to deliver the panels to their office at Omole so that I can come pick up there.

Even with this seemingly simple arrangement, it still took a week for them to call me to come pickup.

Wow!
I’m definitely getting it tomorrow 😀
Can I get the contact of this dealer pls? I might go there today infact!
I don't have a contact, even the mppt dealer I bought I don't even have his number.

I price at about 3 places and bought where the price was reasonable.

How do I clean my panels?

I've tried hosing them with a some dish soap and water, then just water, but there remains a thin layer of dust/grime on them.

Not sure how much that affects my output, though, but I want them as clean as possible. Do I try using hot water?
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by diabeticdeals: 9:36am On Dec 10, 2024
Pressure wash it.

have you tried using a mop stick to clean them in addition to water?

Use a mop and clean water. You may do it like thrice to get that very clean look.

Was trying to avoid going on the roof but it appears I have no option.

diabeticdeals:
Pressure wash it.

I actually did use a pressure washer but tried to hit it from an adjacent window. Sadly by the time the water travels the distance there's not much pressure left.

Ok. We just installed the new panel today to parallel to the old one to generate more current, alas, there is no difference. So I am suspecting the PWM controller is the issue here. I don’t understand how I will be getting 70Watts at peak sunlight from a 360Watss panel. How on earth is that even possible.

January, Gods grace, I’ll get a good MPPT and see if there will be any difference.

Chai, that means the pwm controller is not efficient at all. Mppt controller is your solution chief, you'd get at least 200w from those panels.

Same solar panel setup ( 2 x 335 watts panel ) in parallel.

60 amps PWM CC delivering max of 9 amps at peak
Upgraded to 40 amps MPPT CC delivering above 21 amps at peak.

Huge difference made by mppt CC grin cool shocked

Its about wrong panel sizing.

You are using the wrong panels on the PWM..
PWM is designed to have panel close to the battery voltage.
On a 12V system
You should use a panel with VMP of 18V max. Not a 335w panel.

If you use Panel with 18V VMP, the PWM will out shine the Toy MPPT.

But I’m using 2 panels of 18V VMP on a 60Amps PWM controller, highest I get is 14.8V and 5.1Amps. Can you kindly explain that?

2 panels of how many watts? How was it connected, what brand?

I have a small set up like that where PWM is on par with MPPT. Because the panels perform to their rated capacity.
