freeAgent99: I use it and have never had any issues. The motor has a small controller board that is replaceable. That may be the issue. |

BigDickProblems: but pwm controller does not show Amp naw it only show voltage...try to get a multimeter and read the amp directly from panel...the two panel cant be bad.. this morning am getting 5.1 amp from my 200w africell panel secondly 9am is too early try it around 11am |

Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by HeavenlyBang(m): 8:05am On Dec 21 |
Trippledots: Yeah, I had to add a panel to my setup, so I just told the technician to wipe the panels down. Been less than a week and already getting dusty again Biggest issue, however, is that I'm only getting 60% of total capacity these days At the very start of the harmattan season I was getting 90%+, dust in the air really affects panel performance it seems. |

Please I need a very efficient means of cooking food using my inverter. Inverter is 4.2kw 24v with 280ah lifepo4 battery. I am considering an infrared cooker or just a plain rice cooker, any pointers? |

Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by BigDickProblems: 11:47am |
Ty207: Hello, these are my observations so far so good. MPPT didn’t help either. Remember I have 2pcs of 180Watts 12/18V panel with a max current of 10Amps. Parallel connection. Below is what I got after trying an MPPT to see if there will be any improvement Felicity MPPT 1.0Amp 14V =‘14Watts @8:30am 1.4Amp 16V = 22.4Watts @9:00am 2.2Amp 15V = 33Watts @9:30am 2.4Amp 15V = 36Watts @9:38am 2.6Amp 15V = 39watts @10:00am 2.8Amp 15V = 42Watts @10:20am 3.1Amp 16V = 49.6Watts @11:00am 3.4Amp 15V = 51Watts @11:20am With PWM: I quickly changed the connection back to PWM 3.8Am 14.1V = 53.58Watts @11:25am Basically, what my observation is telling me is that the PWM is better. But overall, something is wrong with my system, and I don’t know what it is. This is 14% of my panel output I am getting. The sun is literally shining on top of my Panel. I am getting tired. Please what could be the problem? Could it be the cable used? Below is the image of the cable:

Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by BigDickProblems: 11:50am |
Please I am throwing these questions to all experienced folks, kindly help me with your knowledge: My panels are not giving me a good output using a PWM, now I just got a Felicity 30AMps controller and it’s even worse. Below are my observations today I have 2pcs of 180Watts 12/18V panel with a max current of 10Amps. Parallel connection. Below is what I got after trying the MPPT to see if there will be any improvement Felicity MPPT 1.0Amp 14V =‘14Watts @8:30am 1.4Amp 16V = 22.4Watts @9:00am 2.2Amp 15V = 33Watts @9:30am 2.4Amp 15V = 36Watts @9:38am 2.6Amp 15V = 39watts @10:00am 2.8Amp 15V = 42Watts @10:20am 3.1Amp 16V = 49.6Watts @11:00am 3.4Amp 15V = 51Watts @11:20am With PWM: I quickly changed the connection back to PWM 3.8Am 14.1V = 53.58Watts @11:25am Basically, what my observation is telling me is that the PWM is better. Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by HeavenlyBang(m): 12:51pm |
BigDickProblems: You've tested output directly? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oV8SnZJextc?si=wjMG0pTCfXPIftDG |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by BigDickProblems: 12:57pm |
HeavenlyBang: I don’t have a multimeter, it’s quite expensive. The meter I have can only measure voltages. And their voltages are ok so far so good. |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by HeavenlyBang(m): 1:03pm |
BigDickProblems: Voltage obviously isn't the issue since you already get good voltage from both the MPPT and PWM. The problem is you're getting 3A from a setup that should be yielding almost 20A. Just look for an electrician with a multimeter and have him take a reading in full sunlight. |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by BigDickProblems: 1:46pm |
HeavenlyBang: [Ok I just figured out the issue. It’s from the Twin tech. I have been duped of my hard earned 45k. This is what I found out after testing the 2 panels separately: Single Connection at 1:20pm Africell 20Volts 3.8Amps =76Watts Twintech 15Volts 0.6Amps = 9Watts Connecting both 15Volts 3.4Amps = 51Watts Notice that Africell is giving 42% output while the Twin Tech is not significant. Now combining the two in parallel affects the entire system to a very low output. Now I am certain of the issue. Do they return solar panels? It’s not up to a month old. |
