Dangote Refinery Fuel Production Impacting European Markets – OPEC by Edygrin(m): 2:49pm On Jan 16
The Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, OPEC, has said that the production of petroleum products, including Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, at Dangote Petroleum Refinery, is impacting the PMS market in Europe.

This is according to OPEC’s report on Wednesday.

The report stated that the emergence of the Dangote refinery has reduced the importation of petroleum products from Europe to Nigeria.

The ongoing operational ramp-up efforts at Nigeria’s new Dangote refinery and its gasoline (petrol) exports to the international market will likely weigh further on the European gasoline market.

Continued gasoline production in Nigeria, a country that has relied heavily on imports to meet its domestic fuel needs in the past, will most likely continue to free up gasoline volumes in international markets, which will call for new destinations and flow adjustments for the extra volumes going forward.

In the fourth quarter of 2024, OPEC said, “Imports also declined, particularly oil product imports, improving the outlook for the external sector.

DAILY POST reports that the 650,000 barrels per day Dangote Refinery began the rollout of PMS on September 15, heralding a new dawn for Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.

The $20 billion Lekki, Lagos-based refinery has continued to ramp up production to meet both domestic and international demands for petrol.

Recall that in November, Dangote reduced its ex-depot price of petrol to N899.50 per litre. The company then partnered with MRS filling stations to sell petrol at N935 per litre.

Dangote’s price slash prompted the Nigerian National Petroleum Company, NNPC, to also reduce its PMS price to N965 per litre.

DAILY POST reports that Nigerians now buy petrol between N935 and N1,100 per litre nationwide.

This is why they don't want a working Nigeria or even Africa at large, imagine a continent so blessed with natural resources depending on Importation and not only that, begging for loans from countries not as naturally blessed.

You are right, sometimes Africans unwittingly support these diabolical schemes.
I believe same thing is playing out with Ajaokuta. I hope Tinubu can finally fix that too.

Fixing Ajaokuta is a waste of money, the money that'll be used to fix it can build a modern one. The Russian contractors who built it made it very hard for anyone else to fix it.

With Dangote's refinery now up and running, Nigeria is cutting down on petrol imports from Europe, which is great for the country's economy. The refinery can produce enough petrol to meet both local and international demands, reducing Nigeria’s reliance on imports. This not only helps lower the demand for foreign exchange needed to import fuel but also boosts Nigeria’s self-sufficiency in fuel production. The price cuts from Dangote and the NNPC further benefit Nigerians, showing how this new refinery is helping stabilize the local market and improve the external sector.

Oh please . Let's stop making excuses for our leaders. They don't want a working Nigeria or African, but they are ok with Dubai and Saudi, with Taiwan and Singapore? With Ghana having uninterrupted Democracy for almost 40 years.
With India becoming the number one exporter of Tech power on Earth?

Why should anyone be responsible or interested in your development? Why should what your neighbor thinks of you be any concern?

Why should your neighbor be happy or interested
or contribute to your progress when he or she has their own problems?

Nigeria has been governed for over 60 years by Nigerians and almost all these leaders from Local Government to President are now billionaires in Naira simply by stealing from the money meant to develop your country, how is that sustainable?

Refineries in Europe were set up for export after all. It should not be a news or surprise if they collapse because their foreign consumers are no longer buying.

Those who set up refineries in Europe made mistake. They should have built them in Nigeria.

Increase in the use of electric cars will also affect the refineries in Europe not just dangote Refinery

The solution now is those refineries should be dismantled, and reassembled in Nigeria
