If her last period ended on 2nd of January and her cycle is 28 day and regular, then her ovulation should be around 16th of January.

Then, how could a lady, who is suppose to ovulate around 16th January, be tested positive for pregnancy on 14th January?

Unless she has ultra short cycle. And even at that, it is unusual to detect pregnancy within days of conception.

You can't conclude. it typically takes about 3 weeks before there's enough hCG in the urine to produce a positive pregnancy test. OP does not need to assume any responsibility till the baby is born and DNA carried out.
