The Emir of Rano, Ambassador Muhammad Isa Umaru, has placed a strict ban on church activities inside residential buildings within the Emirate.

The directive follows a wave of petitions from concerned residents, prompting the Emir to set up a special investigative committee.

Findings from the committee confirmed that a church in Yadi Quarters, Rano town, was conducting services in a residential house without adhering to proper legal procedures.

Rano Emirate is home to 27 certified churches, where Christians worship freely without interference.

However, unauthorized worship in residential buildings sparked discontent among locals, leading to formal complaints.

Acting on the committee’s report, the Emir swiftly ordered an immediate halt to all church activities in residential buildings to prevent any potential breach of peace.

Committee Secretary, Alhaji Umar Isa Sarki, revealed that multiple petitions raised concerns over the legality of the services being held in private homes.

Efforts to obtain
a reaction from the Kano chapter chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.

They will tell you sharia is only for muslims and not for others. Same people are open to islamic activities on public roads.

Hajj and Ramadan will soon come and all the funds they lack for education of children, food, security, or healthcare will be available to go and attack the devil.

Religious leaders in the North have been bestowed with too much power

Why would anyone ban people from practising stuffs in their own home...not like they are even constituting nuisance to the community

The North has too much to worry about abeg. These Emirs should enact laws checkmating banditry and the menace of killer herdsmen

"Sharia will not affect non-muslims", but is this not the same people that are quick to constitute public nuisance & endanger lives on busy streets with their prayer mats, threatening tax paying non-muslims in their own homes?? Unless a deposed emir is now telling the Governor that he has formed a parallel govt, the state needs to respond decisively to avoid a crisis. This move is not about religious piety but rather a declaration of war on the state. Treat that clown like the terrorist he is before he makes the state ungovernable for u! cool

I see nothing wrong with this. If you want to run a church get a premises and follow the correct procedure. In the developed world do you see churches inside residential houses? Nigerias simply hate following the law

Bann them if they constitute a nuisance in a residential area. You cannot turn a residential place into a commercial place without consequences. If you want a commercial place to operate your business, you can go to any place along the expressway that the govt decides for commercial purposes, not residential areas that people use for home only.

For those ignorant who said the mosques are also built in residential areas. How can you compare a mosque to a church?.Anybody know that churches are business centers in Nigeria while mosques are for worship only. Have you ever gone to mosques and see them useing musical instruments for service?

If you are not satisfied with the decision, you can sue them in court or relocate to iPob region where they allow nuisance in their states

So this is the tolerance the advocates of Sharia Court in Southwest were pointing too?

What of all these Muslims praying in front of my business area? Imagine telling them to look for and go to mosque when their prayers don't bother me.

I'm a Christian but I don't want to be hypocritical in this case. What we call house fellowship sometimes is a serious disturbance to others. It is not everybody that can bear the noise of heavy clappings and excessive shouts of Fire! 🔥 Fire! 🔥 Fire 🔥, especially in residential areas, and most especially in a Muslim dominated area. If you want to do elaborate service, do it in the church, don't disturb other people in your neighborhood all in the name of house fellowship.

First of all, you are not a Christian, and if you are, then you are dangerously ignorant. Imagine waking up in the morning because someone is calling Muslims to prayer? How annoying.
The same way you feel annoyed with muslem's call to prayer is the same way some Muslims feel about christians' too. Both is not acceptable in sane climes. Many mosques have been sealed in Lagos for this same reason you pointed out. Both Chritians and Muslims can perform their religious rites without disturbing others.
.. and btw, you have no power to authenticate my Christian faith. The Bible says by their fruit you shall know them.

Would you say the same if the Obong of Calabar bars muslim prayers and activities all over the city?
This is why your religion is dangerously pretentious, and not good for the modern society.

But when the muslims places their speakers calling for prayers is not Noise pollution right?

What i expected them to do was to soundproof the church so the Noise dont have to disturb others.

They do it in Sokoto too.
But they have a mosque in every home and at every inch of the town.

So much for religious tolerance.

That's why when I hear some of people down south talk about tolerance, I just laugh out loud.

There are mosques in almost every street in most Northern states, I am sure in the same areas where this Emir ban churches, several mosques are present. Why is he selective in judgement? And who gave him such power to place bans?
