Mr_TA: I miss football. undecided

But this coming season is going to be long and hard for us.

i like the uncertainty it brings - the adrenaline would rush to the head. we just need to fix the midfield and add another quality striker and we are good to go.....

so much has been made about SAF's exit but this is united we are talking about. the firepower and the quality have not left us. by the time we destroy wigan 5-0 @ wembley, our dignity would be restored.

hia s a full script of Moyes' statement as regards d above...

“I think he’s got a major role to play because we
need to try and get as many goals as we possibly
can. I think Wayne can play up-top he can play
dropped in. Overall my thought on Wayne is he’ll
be key. If for any reason we had an injury to
Robin. Robin, we are going to need him. I want to be able to play the two of them, I want to be able
to use Danny Welbeck, Chicarito as well. The first
year I think I have to get a chance to see (all the
players) and how best to use them. It’s a chance
for me to get Wayne right back to where he was.
That’s the challenge and a challenge I want to take on. I’ve also got to make sure it’s not just
him and we don’t concentrate on him.
Manchester United isn’t about Wayne Rooney.”

Me still doesnt see what infuriated Rooney hia o... Plus d media s jst overflogging d whole issue...

Which should have been better for the team? Moyes making above statement or Moyes keeping quiet?

If he wanted to assure RVP, he could have told him in private that his position was secured, ie that he will remain the lead striker.
Last season RVP had some lows but he was left on till end of matches, it was always Rooney or Welbeck who went out for Chicha. Now RVP has just been assured publicly again he is the sacred cow among the four strikers.

I don't know why you are defending the indefensible. There is nothing "Unguided" about the statement made by David Moyes. He stated the obvious. Accepted that British Press twisted and blew the statement made by DM out of proportion but he spoke in English language that Rooney himself understands. What he (Rooney) should have simply done is to go out to the press and stress his loyalty to the club and the manager and also accept that he has fitness issue and that he's going to work hard on it so as to regain his fitness. He didn't do that, he'll rather listen to the British press that doesn't even care about him. He's giving them the opportunity to dot his Is and cross his Ts which is selling their news.

As far as i am concerned that statement should have challengeg him to work harder on his fitness, get rid of the excess fat, eating habit and drinking habit. DM said "he’s (Rooney) got a major role to play", "I think Wayne can play up-top he can play dropped in", "Overall my thought on Wayne is he’ll be key", "It’s a chance for me to get Wayne right back to where he was. That’s the challenge and a challenge I want to take on". These are pure English language which should ordinarily challenge and encourage him to gain his fitness back. Everybody knows that he has lost his form because of his fitness issues.

Robin Van Persie is our best striker as of now. Does he expect to be our main striker with his present fitness level? All i know is that he is lazy and not ready to work hard to bring back his form. Despite getting fat pay, he doesn't want to work hard for it. Top 9 is not his birth right. That was why SAF bought RVP last season. No player is bigger than Man Utd. Player goes player comes.

He sold his position to RVP because at the beginning of last season he started against Everton and we lost that match because of his fitness issue. He played nothing in that game despite playing full ninety minutes RVP started the next game, he scored in his first start despite the fact that he didn't go for pre-season and we won that game.

If he wants to get his position back, he's got to prove that he's still got somthing in his tank. He should be sold out of England now because he is not worthy of a player that should break the goals record set by Sir Bobby Charlton. He does not deserve to be seen in the same light as SBC who is a true Uniyed.

So in your opinion, Rooney was pushed backward from the striking role because he didn't score against Everton? So what about those 10 matches RVP had goals drought and Rooney scored some crucial goals even from a supporting role?

when RVP wasn't scoring, he was assisting.....rooney did neither when his form went to shyte. rooney's bottom level is the worst i have seen in the premier league. when rooney is having a bad day, it's awful to watch.

rooney is a liability, time to cut our losses.

Rooney had more of his assists and goals in the 2nd half of the season. And he had the lone goals in some difficult matches we won 1-0 in the second half.

...& rightly so because he has earned it! Are you kidding me? If you are made the manager of Man Utd today, who'll lead your line? Tell me. Next up is Javier Hernandez cuz he has earned it as well. When van Persie was signed, Chicharito said he relishes the competition and he will stay on and fight for his spot! Kagawa had a not too impressive first season, he openly admitted, while reiterating his desire to do much better in his second season. Welbeck openly admitted that he needs to work on his end product to be more relevant in the thick of the competition as far as playing the striking role is concerned.

I hear you. Earn my foot. Before his arrival how many goals did Rooney score? 34 goals. If that was the basis, Rooney should have led last season. Coaches only play Rooney in different positions because of his vasatility, just like playing Valencia in right back where need arises or playing Carrick in centre back. Rooney can play very well in many places, so it was right to make RVP stay up, 'cos aside that RVP is off. So it's tactical. But Moyes should not have used words such as 'when RVP is injured then Rooney will be needed'. If it were on merit, RVP should have been on bench in the period he was squandering our chances.

2 + 1 = 3
so how have you countered my claim? the ones you mentioned were the only 3 assists rooney had from the 1st of january till may. 3 league assists from a player drawing £250k per week, it's quite pathetic.....

as for the goals, he only scored 5 league goals in the second half of the season. is that what we should have a party about?

Did Rooney not score that period? And remember he played deeply too and even played defensive midfield n few matches. 12 goals plus 10 assists in 26 matches is almost a goal per match.

RVP on top striking role had only one assist from the period he went dry. 5 league games, 2 champions league and three FA cup matches. So how do you mean he was assisting during his drought period? Overall he had 9 assists from his top position.

RVP, 0 goal and 1 assist in ten matches and he was not substituted at all. Haba! Even guys who scored the goals that period were substituted.

RVP = New wife treatment.

Infact if truly Rooney is angry, it is justified. Someone who had done so much for the club used as a rag?

Some United fans keep saying Rooney is fat or not fit. Has anyone noticed that his goal scoring form for England national team is at its peak? He is scoring for the three lions as he has never done before. He scores in virtually every match for England.

So the problem with United is midfield, Rooney is the one 'midfielding' RVP, but when Rooney goes to strike no one 'midfied' him.

I think United want Rooney to hand in a transfer request first, before any other thing. I believe he'll do that cuz staying at United now will do him no good in terms of minutes on the pitch & fans' fury. Moyes will prefer to sell him to Arsenal tho, hoping it will placate Wenger with his apparent obstacle on the path to Fabregas.
I hear bids have been submitted for Fabregas, nothing of such was said about Thiago which makes me doubt United was ever up for his services...
I believe we'll capture at least two of our targets while retaining the present squad bar Rooney [Fabregas, Fellaini, Modric, Bale, Garay, probably Moyes is interested in Mata as well?] which won't be bad at all.

I don't know whether to call you a Man United fan or a Wayne Rooney fan because you have proved here that you are more of a Wayne Rooney fan than a Man Utd fan.

Wayne Rooney have had two worst goals drought run in Man Utd shirt compared to the one RVP had last season. Moreso, RVP was scoring for his country during this period.

In 2005/06 season, Rooney went on a 12-game run - 1002 minutes in terms of match time – from December 2005 to February 2006, ending when he scored twice in the Carling Cup final against Wigan Athletic. Why wasn't he benched during this period? SAF, the whole team and the fans stood by him.

Again, in 2010 he went on a run of 1,114 minutes play time (Five months) without scoring for Utd and also during this period he didn't score for England. This was on the back of scoring 34 goals for the club in the previous season. Why wasn't he benched during this period? SAF, the whole team and the fans stood by him. Do you know what SAF said during the time? He said "I say it time and time again; strikers live by their goals," Sir Alex Ferguson said today. "When they are not scoring, they think it is never going to come. Then when they [goals] come, they think they are never going to finish. They are straightforward people, you know. And Wayne is no different from any other striker."

Once again, i see this as a challenge to him. He only need to work on his fitness and prove to everybody that he's still got it. Everybody faces challenges in life and we all brace ourselves up to face it. We don't run away from them. That is all what David Moyes is telling him.

RVP earned his top man position in Man Utd team. He has been the top scorer in the league for the past two seasons. What does that tell you? "Consistent" How else should he earn his position? Rooney has always play a second fiddle to RVP even in the last season RVP spent at Arsenal. Who was the highest goals scorer in the league then? Are you now telling me that the coach should bench a hardworking RVP for a lazy Rooney? We are talking of present not some kind of past glory.

I don't just get it. Somebody is trying to help him regain his fitness and position in the team and they are saying he is "angry and confused". Give me a break!

How is it a lie? 5 league matches, 2 champions league matches and the FA cup is that not 10 matches. I got that from an official EPL site and I verified the info.

Even if you were to remove the FA cups matches he didn't start as usual, is it not poor for a lead striker to have 1 assist and 0 goal in seven matches? Yet he was kept on the field all through without substitution.

5 seasons goals aggregate prior to RVP arrival at Old Trafford, Rooney was the highest scorer, followed by RVP and Drogba third. What does that tell you?

Rooney going on goal's drought in his early days was as a result of his supporting role. Nistelrooy was the lead man. Just like Welbeck scoring one goal all season but his contribution from various roles are immeasurable. But RVP is a lead man.

Has Rooney ever said he wants to leave?

Everything is mere speculation. According to a 'speculator' or side talk, they said what Rooney told SAF was that he will like to go to a place he can play regular football and in attack incase SAF was indirectly meant he was no longer a regular starter. That wasn't bad a talk between a son and a father or a player and a coach. It was a private thing.
