PHCN performance should be measured by the total megawatts of electricity being generated and not the hours of electricity being enjoyed by some select regions.
What is the total megawatts being generated now? If it is more than what it was 6-12 months back, then we can safely conclude that power generation has improved.

The fact is that some places (e.g. Benin) are experiencing greatly improved power supply while some other regions are yet to see appreciable improvement.

Billions have been spent on power starting from Obasanjo administration down to the present administration. If things had gone well, nigeria should have been generating around 12,000 megawatts of electricity by now.

Anyway, we are watching to see how the drama will unfold.

Power supply in Nigeria stands at 3400MW.

Facebook industries in Oregon, US uses up 30MW of power to run its systems.

Yes, I said 30MW. Go and check it up for yourself.

The self-acclaimed giant of Africa power consumption stands at 3400MW. What an awful shame.

Am sorry u won't see them, they have all gone for a dinner organised by Amaechi and his Boko haram compatriots for e-rats,e-lizards and e-cockroach to reward them for never seeing anything good in this Nation and for always going blind when projects that touch the lives of Nigerians are been commissioned.
Some will receive long term service award for always sticking to lies and never telling the truth ,while others will receive letters of commendation for running down this nation on every thread !!!!

I don't think you have left the shores of that our country called Nigeria. If you have, i believe you wouldn't be saying all these concerning one of the top oil producing nations in the world...... I felt terribly bad the moment i stepped out of my country, naija. Whereas, poor countries without the gift of oil do have uninterrupted power supply. During my (1 yr training) stay in Cairo, i once spoke to some Egyptian as to why they derive joy in protesting. They responded ( to my shock) by telling me that the crop of leaders they have now are not delivering on their promises. I told them to visit my country, Nigeria, then, they will know that they are in heaven. This is an African country ( like Nigeria) where constant power supply is a way of life. Here, you hardly see downstairs ( virtually all the buildings i went to had elevator ( because there's electricity). If one visits Cairo today and decides to rent an apartment the same day, it's as easy as ABC, courtesy of the gov't's housing policy. With 1 Egyptian pound (equivalent to less than 25 naira) one can board a train from, say, Lagos to Benin. I was so shock seeing all these things there. I don't know whether Egypt has oil, but i also discovered that fuel price is less than our 40 naria for privately owned cars, while cars for public transport buy at less than our 30 naira. And someone is telling me that we should celebrate 2 weeks of epileptic power supply. What a shame! SMH!!!

Peeps, for time sake, i will pause here.

Nigeria is a cess pool....And her people are half brain dimwits...Why would you heap honorifics to a failed out fit like phcn when they are doing what they are sposed to in the first place. Accountability is what the masses aught to be demanding for, not a pacifism borne out of pusilanmity and indolence. Thats why your government officials are dispensing with the inheritance of your children while you heap titles of acolades on them.....fo o o o ls.

I live in that iponri estate and I don't know where that idiot that calls himself bamidele jacob got his own light from, probably, he must have been bribed. Light has not improved anywhere, what we get is not even up to 8 hours averagely per day.
Re: Lagosians Commend PHCN For Improved Power Supply by maclatunji: 4:54pm On Sep 14, 2013
I live in Lagos and I have not witnessed any such improvement. It is such a shame that Nigerians have been conditioned to celebrate mediocrity. One is reported to be happy at having electricity for "12 hours" which is even local. Compare that to people who have never seen electricity cut in their lives.

How many threads like this have made front page since Nairaland started? How come people are still counting hours of electricity supply and Megawatts generated instead of uninterrupted supply with all of these "improvements"? Do our people reflect at all?

Oh shut up... Current generation is 3845 mw, plus there is a fundamental restructuring and privatisation process going on to greatly raise output. That is where your dull brain should be focused on rather than coming here to contribute nothing like an illiterate.

Improvement where? If there are improvement, then it is subjective. In Argungi Lekki here no light at all. Infancy it gets worse by the day.Why celebrate mediocrity, when in the first instance Light should not even be interrupted. I am tired of all this mess

That is why you need to join us in blaming our former leaders who created boko haram and APC just to ensure that the country remains ungovernable for GEJ who has the will to fix our economy.
Or did your friend tell you that the present Egypt government did all those good things you highlighted?

What has not happened in about three years is happening in my area. Power outages for less than 30 mins maximum 5 times in the day.

My freezer works anyhow now. This is a good experience that I hope will continue. Kudos to all that are responsible for this improvement.

Stop lying. There is nothing like constant power supply in Egypt. Daily power cuts are the reality there.

There is a HUGE diference, thicko. Have you generated 1/4 of a kilowatt in your life? Yet you sniff at 485 mw that's enough to power countless thousands of homes and industries. That ''insignificant'' 485 mw is the equivalent of roughly half a billion dollars in investment at the going rate of $1 million per mw.
