Just completed bauchi-asaba-lagos-asaba-lagos. Will be doing lagos-bauchi on monday, I hear a bridge in ondo is broken so traffic is diverted. I intend to go via south east to get to the north, to avoid the detour. EnsurE all your papers are up to date especially custom duty papers. Best of luck.

Thanks for the info, what bridge are you talking abt. Can you confirm exact location? For some weird reasons customs don't stop this particular vehicle, anyway papers are intact.

One thing you can't take away from these wild animals is how fuel efficient and miles eaters they can be. Face their noses to any part of the country and gear them into action, consider yourself in your final destination.

Anyway, this thread is not for Lions.

As you are about to climb Murtala Mohammed Bridge, along Lokoja - Abuja highway, you will hear a terrible grinding noise like twice, as if your transmission or wheel hubs just exploded. Don't stop. Keep going. The problem is with the road, not your vehicle.

You will likely hear the noise twice, especially those heading to Lokoja from Abuja, immediately you drive out of the bridge.

BROKEN BRIDGE BETWEEN IBILO AND LAMPESE
A bridge between between Ibilo (Kogi state) and Lampese (EDO state) has been partially washed off due to heavy downpour.

Traffic from Lagos - Akure - Owo is diverted from Ibilo through Igarra - Auchi - Okpella - Okenne - Abuja road while motorists from Abuja are advised to follow Okenne - Kabba - Ekiti axis to Lagos.

Our men are at the spot directing traffic while relevant authorities have been contacted for repairs to be effected.
We shall keep you posted as we call for caution on the part of road users.

Wishing you all safe trips.

You're meant to be an "expert", yet you come out with this? I suppose you feel only big 4 door sedans with. 5.7L V8 engines are the best for long distance travel.

Just so you know - couples here travel with 1.0 litre Classic Mini models to the South of France. The only difference between interstate travel with the Ford Puma and a BMW E39 is the level of comfort.

The Puma 1.7 has racing pedigree. And what you fail to realise is that a smaller engine will dissipate heat much more efficiently than a big one.

Expert? Lol.

How do you intend to document the trip? With a purpose built camera? with a smartphone based camera? Do you stop to take pictures? Or does a co-passenger do the picture taking? Or do you take the pictures while driving? Curious. My smartphone camera needs a few seconds to focus and I can't afford the luxury while driving

Once i am on the road, am so fixated on getting to my destination safe and sound that i don't stop except to refuel or to attend a law enforcement.

Mr. Expert, if you know little about vehicle engine designs, sure you wouldn't call any a toy.

Here yourself well...You forgot to mention that a small engine will get fatigued easily because of the length & condition of the car.

I only stated my opinion. I will only drive a big engine on a long distant journey otherwise I did prefer to enter a flight to my destination.

nice pics bro, but in cartalk we preach safety 1st too so please we love you so do your family, instead of driving and taking pictures get someone in your car and direct him when to take some pictures so you dont lose control of your car and get involved in a mishap. thanks..
