There aren't many Nigerians in Sweden but there is a small community. The bigger communities are like Eritreans and Somalians and people from that part of Africa. Things are as expensive as London, but everything runs smoothly and on schedule. Buses, trains, subway. People are comfortable and everyone is cared for. They queue for everything, they have this number system thats really cute. They are law abiding and you never hear anything in the news about robbery or attack or ANYTHING, well once in a blue moon, and it makes sensational news. They speak English very well, they also have Tv channels in English subtitled in Swedish. Its very very cold in the winter months and not very warm in the summer, but bearable. The night life is fun, there are many clubs and bars. What else? 19 Likes 1 Share |

Sweden is a good experience since it presents another perspective on life. It's very kind of socialist. Everyone must and should be taken care of. very high taxes. Hard to get rich and almost impossible to suffer. There is something called existence minimum. Every one should have about 3500 kronors after housing expense. That is why the amount that you have to have for living is so high. You are not suppose to live below the legal minimum. Not so cold really, there is a warm current off-shore so it is not as cold as would be expected based on it's latitude. Quite large country, geographically speaking. From the North to the South is the same as from the South to the South of Italy. Almost twice the size of the UK. Can be a bit boring, nothing much happens, but one get used to it. Not very easy to get a job, but it is equally hard to be fired once you get in. 33 Likes 4 Shares |

i have to be honest with you, i've spent 3 days here and things aren't the way i expected. the worst thing is, you would hardly see an african, everywhere i go they stare at me as if they've seen a ghost. infact, i've seen only 4 africans since i arrived here and they are definately not from Nigeria. i'm trying to meet new friends and i hope it would be much easier when school starts at the end of the month. 20 Likes |

@ tinkinfela, I find that very hard to believe! I mean, is there a place on earth where you won't find Nigerians in large numbers? Sum1 once said that "anywhere in the world you find a lot of Africans outside Africa, there you find a lot of Nigerians". Once attended a conference there some years ago, was impressed with the infrastructure though, but they live very lonely & solitary lives! Me! I can't stay in that kind of place longer than 3 months o! Infact, when I arrived Nigeria, I personally had to board a danfo home cos I just wanted to get the "Naija flava" once again, 17 Likes |

Sum1 once said that "anywhere in the world you find a lot of Africans outside Africa, there you find a lot of Nigerians". @claireromiz Stop working with conjecture, because you "heard" that there are "sooooooooo" many Africans or Nigerians around the world does not mean so, it is just a false assumption. Go and find real data before you talk. Also, Once attended a conference there some years ago, was impressed with the infrastructure though, but they live very lonely & solitary lives! Me! I can't stay in that kind of place longer than 3 months o! Infact, when I arrived Nigeria, I personally had to board a danfo home because I just wanted to get the "Naija flava" once again, That's how it is in the Western World my sister, and that's why even in the scandinavian countries where they have a high standard of living (yes, way higher than the US), they still have the highest suicide rates in the world, even higher than Japan (2nd richest country in the world). By the way, i intend to board a danfo when i get back to naija just to get the vibe and flavor of the country he he. @ubamu I used to live in Sweden. Its not easy anywhere including the US, UK, and so, I really think or believe that what this poster is asking has to do with the immigrant/legal/visa status of a student in Sweden! (Do's and don't). What you can and can not do under student visa! can one get a job as a student? can one get a health insurance as a student? can you get a state or national I.D under a student visa? can you extend your visa while in Sweden? e.t.c not where to party or catch a train 8 Likes |

From all what i read here and, what i heard from different people, i think the place is okay. Its a new environment and one is expected to adapt. Although i hear its very expensive living there, but also not to difficult like we experience in Nigeria getting a job (as a student, which will assist ur finance while there), so its almost impossible to suffer there. I recently applied for a post-grad admission there and is praying it goes thru. I hope to study and work there for a-little while if my application goes thru. 1 Like 1 Share |

Foolish set of people(sorry if u r hurt by my statement) u want to go to sweden ?best advice stay home and find something really good to do, there is money back home.u might ask the dumbest question like they ask saying "if that place is so bad why don't u come home then", but let me tell you the truth, the fact is how many of us here are really making it, 2 in million ? simply none.what do we live on ? loans, mortgage, car finance, and all sorts of available debts.i am a chemical Engr and i work in a very reputable company but i know what my colleagues back home have or live like working in companies not even as better as mine.if u know anyone that had stayed 20 years in the UK,US or wherever in the western world and has refuse to come home, its simply because he hasn't make it. let me give u an example, a friend just bought an X5 in nigeria for 8 million cash, for someone to pay that for a single car means he still has lots of reserve.currently, that's about £33,333 pounds in the UK. where in the world am i going to get that cash from even working for the next 6 years i wont save that in the UK, Yes! how will i do that? no way, but my friend bought it and so many other examples, back to the dumbest question Nigerians ask , ppl cant come home becos there's simply not enuff to come back too, becos same ppl will say "since u ve being there what did u achieve?" i heard soemone say "the western world will give u exp." f**k exp. exp my ass, to do what with the experience? build the next space ship? or the next sky refinery? its experience what u start looking for after you have paid 19000 pounds to study every year for 3 yrs? Best advice--- come here to study and get the f**k out No Runs? believe me in the western world , one can never, lets leave the rest for the man Upstairs. 15 Likes 3 Shares |

@ alexjodeci! take am eazy now! Haba! some of us 4 9JA wey don go east & west come back know say home is best! truth is many Nigerians don spoil road for other Nigerians. I mean, you really need to see the kind of things some of our brodas are doing out there. Dem don shit for the road wey them know say their own 9JA brother go com waka pass soon.So before you make real "good" breakthrough, you'll have to work extra extra hard and do the extra ordinary. the fact is that you can't have it all; good roads, 24/7 light, good health care, good infrastructure! there's got to be some draw backs men! nature isn't so unfair! Here, no lite, no road, little or no security, but we get togetherness, we dey fit dodge tax,I fit get driver and cook + gateman under #50,000 budget a month, I get free nanny for my kids (the two grandmas), we dey run things with governemnt big boys! don't get me wrong o! I am not supporting tax evasion but you know even for these advanced countries them the very rich dey dodge tax wella! 6 Likes 1 Share |

@Promise2 Sweden is a developed country. It can be agreed that they have one ( if not the best) of the best healthcare structure in the world. In terms of standard of living, its very comparable to the other affluent Scandinavian countries, All these Scandinavian countries basically have similar structures in place, one thing is for certain, UK is nothing to be compared with Sweden in terms of the quality of life n stuffs, but na u sha, as the ultimate decider! 1 Like |

I study and live here in sweden , Who said there are no nigerians hia have u forgotten that swedish schools dont charge tuition fees , Ofcourse u expect to see our brothers and sisters over hia. the very truth is that there are no jobs hia . U will be given a work permit as a student but nothing for work . how we survive is that we work in denmark and school in sweden . most nigerians including me study in the university of malmo in southern sweden which is 30 mins by train to the capital of denmark Lots of jobs in denmark but very high tax system and cost of living extremly high. 14 Likes 1 Share |

@Alexjodeci How sick is ur brain, its always good to know that we still have some high definition twats in our midst. what is wrong with people chasing their dreams in the foreign land, whats wrong with people having a dream , whats wrong with her/him wanting to study in a better university that boasts of academic achievement in a country that give chances to people who wish to explore their mind and not the cult univerities you have in your so-called giant of africa. Afterall, most the companies in your country keep sending ther employees to the western world for courses to better themselves. i'm quite happy you keep referring to your friend buying 8 million car price tag, what have you bought or what have you acheived. perhaps next time you want to convince someone it would be best selling yourself in a honorable way and not you friend's 8 million car. With your coments so far, i see you as an ambassador of nigerian new age, but then again with your colourful words you are one of those drop-outs good for nothing, sophisticated slowpoke, Sounds like loser hiding behind a keyboard trying to be hard @poster Your Dreams will not die, Your Plans will not Fail,Your Destiny will not be Aborted, the Desires of your Heart will be Granted 27 Likes 4 Shares |
