ChristyG: Well, that's not chest-beating, I posted something postive to counter the negativity. You can go check forbes' list for confirmation. Chest-beating is when you're dramatically arrogant over non-achievement. Anyway, I'm just tired of reading useless tripes about Ijebus all the time. When are you lot going to get tired of spouting id.iotic stereotypes induced by 19th century jealousy everywhere? And if you're obsessed with Ijebus, how about create a balance, and talk about both the good and the bad? At least, talk about how the Ijebus are the biggest industralists in Nigeria (facts are out there for all to see). Talk about Ijebu Kingdom being one of the oldest in Nigeria, and the great things one of the first European explorers around the shores of Nigeria like Dapper said about how highly organised they were in the 14th century - and the clothes he bought from the Ijebus. Talk about how influential the Ijebus have been to the Yoruba group, and Nigeria at large etc. And if you hate positive stories, then make the useless stereotypical threads a general one. I want to see threads about the stereotypes of other Yoruba subgroups. I want to see what other Yorubas think about Ibadan, Awori, Egba, Osun, Ondo, Ekiti, Ilorin, Okun, Oshogbo etc. folks. If you can't do that, just leave Ijebus alone. These Ijebu hating threads reek of illiteracy, and it isn't surprising since majority of Nigerians are barely literate, apart from being able to write poorly and read without the necessary comprehension skills. The average Ijebu person doesn't care about what you think, but it's nauseating to see folks populate google's servers with nonsense all the time. Who cares if you get married to an Ijebu person or not? Just keep that crap in your head or within your family. Ijebus never needed anyone when they built their great Kingdom, and flourished, pre-Nigeria. They actually prefer being isolated. So, leave Ijebus alone! 3 Likes 1 Share |

coogar: Right on the money. Ijebu sold a lot of slaves via Epe. And my pops is from Epe, and from a royal lineage there. So, the people must have been connected with slave trade one way or the other. Hence every time I read about the horrors of slavery, I just feel a certain way. That was basically wickedness. And those people didn't really understand what they were doing back then. That said, a lot of Ijebus were also sold into slavery. And I'd say majority of the slaves shipped into the new world were captured because the total number of people shipped to the new was just too many, for it to have happened via trade alone. More than 40 million people, with over 300,000 sailors. Very dark history! |

[s] ChristyG:[/s] Eat a dyck! I see you on every Ijebu thread and you always have something idi.otic to say. Others can't measure up, hence all the bile and hatred. Perhaps, when you start measuring up, you will stop creating useless threads everywhere. You're from Ibadan, right? Well, your Ibadan King is also Ijebu. And since Ijebus were one of the first settlers in Ibadan, you might have Ijebu blood flowing in your veins. Just tell ya folks to leave Ijebus alone. Apart from Terracotta, an astute intellectual, with an extensive knowledge of Yoruba history. And the only person who post positive stories about Ijebus and Ijebu history - the rest of you have never had anything positive to say. |

Joy83: Bro, if you are indeed what you claim, you'd know akoko people have a long history of intermarriage with ogun state axis. perhaps you dont? as per objections to the union, that is nothing new- most yorubas will not approve people marrying from certain areas outside their locality. |

LOL@ people who are getting all worked up over stereotyping ish. I can swear no one has ever said as much evil about ijebu folks as they have about mbaise people. tpia1: Yes, and that's why I kind of feel the pains of those in the new world whose ancestry was from that dark history. Obviously, slavery back them was a norm - and serfdom was a universal thing. However, I believe those slave traders never knew what they were getting themselves into, and the horrible things the slaves were subjected to. And that has created a generational thing that both blacks in Africa and the new world are yet to recover from. Anyway, I feel their pains and I understand the struggles of those in the new world. Hence I'll never look down on them. The experience in black diaspora today is also relative for both those in the new world and, 2nd/3rd generation Africans. The legacy of the slave trade, and why it's always better to look for ways to bridge the gap. 1 Like |

TV01: I know her from the culture section. And it has reached a stage where you always have to question why these folks always create tons of hateful threads about just the Ijebus. Apart from the Yoruba and Igbo threads - no other group has more stereotypical threads than the Ijebus ( you can check NL's database). And this chic is ever present on those threads. Ijebus have different subgroups: proper Ijebu in Ogun, Remo division, waterside Ijebu in Lagos, Ibadan Ijebus, and Iseyin. They should at least tell us which of the Ijebus have these stereotypical tosh because no one in my own family is fetish, stingy, and wicked. It's just boring now. |

[s] ChristyG:[/s] So, you don't know what speaking Nigerian is, stark illiterate? Anyway, go learn how to read, spell, and improve your comprehension skills. I don't even like Ijebu women, but they're not as doltish as you're. |
