Lagos Orders Closure and Reconstruction Of Ladipo Market by superstar1(m): 9:36pm On Oct 08, 2014 |
The Lagos State government has given a directive for the reconstruction of Ladipo main auto market to meet international standard. In obeying the order, the Mushin Local Government has granted 20-year lease to the stakeholders to destroy the old structures and rebuild the market through private participation. Addressing a press conference yesterday, High Chief Innocent Echefu, who was the first president of the market association between 1989-1992, said the government’s directive became imperative because the foundation of the market had been destroyed by heavy duty equipments being brought into the market by the traders. According to Echefu, who displayed the design of the new international market, the government directed that the new structure should be a storey building, instead of a bungalow. The old building has a total of 320 shops. He explained that his company, Messers Echefu Akachukwu International Company Limited, had been given the right to handle the project, while two banks, Diamond and Zenith, had agreed to finance it. The ex-market leader said traders presently occupying the market should not exercise any fear because the reconstruction would be done in phases, giving room for them to continue to sell their spare parts while construction goes on. He said old traders are to get allocation at the rate of N1.7 million while new allotees would pay N2million per shop. They are to make deposit of 30 percent of the total cost, while the banks will pay 70 per cent on their behalf for the reconstruction. He added: “This is an international auto market that must be built to specification and to the taste of both the Lagos State Government and Mushin Local Council”. He commended the government for giving the traders another chance to develop the market and promised that traders would live to expectation. |

This is a nice move. So far it shall be done in stages and the re-construction shall not affect trading, it's a good idea. Development is Bebe, And We All Know Bebe Is Very Stubborn. Cheers. And I Hope This Thread Shall Not Become Anothe Battleground. Let There Be Peace. |

ceaz4r: You still don't get it Bro. These people are businessmen, it's all about buying and selling. If all the markatars should relocate to Owerri or any part of SE, who's going to buy the goods/wares when almost everyone is into trading? Another factor is the PPP. And, We All Know South West Is The Headquarters Of Happenings In Nigeria Hence The Highest PPP. Don't worry Bro, they shall come back home tipatipa when you get your Biafra Republic and we get The Oduduwa Republic. Life Is Good, Cheers. 1 Like |

For all you tribalists, Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa... it may ever be well with you in this life, because the little breath you have been given, the little time you have here on Earth, is used to tear your brothers apart. Balkan:the same way that you will vote a Yoruba person as deputy governor in Imo and Anambra. Your sense of entitlement is unprecedented. If you are not satisfied, go back home and build your states. Quit complaining, at least the Yorubas are not killing you like the Fulanis and the Hausas. 8 Likes 1 Share |

olatomiwa: @ Bolded....................Abi o jare!!! But come to think of it, i really don't blame them. If we had been giving them the hausa/fulani treatment, they won't have the temerity to be making unreasonable demands. I dare any one of these mofos to make the same demand in any northern states, chanting their pet "One Nigeria" c.r.a.p and see if the northerners won't start another pogrom on their obdurate fla.t.he.a.ds UchihaMadara: Old boy, abeg, don't go there jo! Ibos are not my brothers. They call me dirty, lazy, smelly, treacherous and every other derogatory adjectives they can muster. Yet they are not satiated 'cause they also went online disseminating spurious and fallacious tales about us and rubbishing our elders. They never cease in telling us how they are going to take over our ancestral land and turn us into their slaves. Hell No! Yorubas and ibos are not brothers. Ibos hate yorubas with great passion and we are not exactly fond of them, either. 5 Likes |

The "we" you write when you say "we do what we like... " does not include hungry stomachs living in the slums in Lagos... Or does it? Igbos are in Lagos to do business... to milk the land until its boossoms run dry.... then Lagos will be flipped around, bend over and taken from behind, until... I dunno... she cries for mercy? Igbos boys will decide then shaa heheh Lagos ogbanje o! superstar1: 4 Likes |

sorry to break it to you, bro... but how many people have you seen leave their business venture and return to their newly created republic? you don't seem to understand what 'Biafra' means, so all I will tell you is that Igbos will still be in Lagos if Biafra secedes. Pelee. Steadmann: 1 Like |
