Let ndokwa be ndokwa, and igbo be igbo, this are argument that we should put an end to. No matter what we say here if you pay a visit to ndokwa land 90% will publicly say they are not igbos. Let respect the view of every person/people on issue that concern themselves 2 Likes |

victor1464: Nobody is saying not yo be ukwuani or any village in Igbo Then please give me link of government backed site that identified ukwuani as a tribe and language Then point of correction orange is what is it and grape same but all are classified under citrus family Then you said igbos meant slave ..dude you lie I know ukwuani well having married there ..let assumed that Igbo is slave ..the question who enslaved them which king enslaved them and when If we will say those that are break slaves its ukwuani There were enslaved by aboh then Benin So disprove this ... Now last thing can ukwuani measure up with any Igbo village in east ..if yea then name the village OKs Give us evidences not call names 1 Like |

Ukwuani is totally different character 4rm igbo culture.for instance,d ukwuani man can marry 4rm any tribe unlike igbo man who is mainly restricted to marring only his own people. 2ndly,an ukwuani man does not force his late brothers wife to marry him, neither does he fight 4 his properties. Secondly d ukwuani man is detribalized. 3rdly,d ukwuani man is not greedy. 4thly,d ukwuanis hav their own language, mode of dressin, music, story tales, style & proverbs. 5th,d ukwuani tradition is a brigde of all traditions of d people of western niger delta which consist(itsekiri, uhrobo, ijaw, bini,& igbo(aniocha/oshimili) All dis makes us unique.PROUDLY NDOKWA nation!! |

victor1464: Ukwuani Local Government Obiaruku is the headquarters of Ukwuani LGA which was carved out of the then Ndokwa West LGA on the 4th of December, 1996 and has an area of 2,016 square kilometres. Nine clans make up the LGA namely; Akoku, Amai, Ebedei, Eziokpor, Ezionum, Obiaruku, Umuebu, Umukwata and Umutu. Together they make up the ten wards of the LGA with a population of about 103,000 going by the 1991 census. The people practice gerontocracy, were the oldest man is installed the traditional ruler, designated Okpala-Uku. The people are a mono linguistic group-the Ukwuanis (an Igbo dialect). http://www.deltastate.com.ng/Local-Government/ukwuani-local-government.html NO BE ME WRITE AM NA DELTA STATE GOVERNMENT WRITE AM...NON IGBOS KNOWS WHO IS IGBO OR NOT IDENTITY CRISIS CAN BE FRAUSTRATING |

ROFL. Afikpo is just like central Igbo. It's the Abakaliki dialect (Izzi & Ezza) that are not like Igbo. Another problem is that many people are not so conversant with the modern orthography of writing in Igbo language be it Ukwuani, or Ikwerre or Ngwa. If it's rightly written it'll be easier to understand. |
Re: The Official Ukwuani Thread: Ukwuani Bu Ani Eze by ChinenyeN(m): 2:39pm On Sep 21, 2016 |
chijiblaze: The modern orthography (the one used to write Izugbe) is grossly insufficient for many Igbo lects. Izugbe, by nature of its orthography, only recognizes 30 'alphabets', but many lects may require between 20% - 80% more 'alphabets' to represent their actual speech. Which means that for many lects, the current orthography is only useful for 20% - 80% of what someone can actually say. So, the current orthography might make a lect easier to read, but not always easier to understand, because the actual nuance is sometimes lost. Consequently, the actual meaning may be lost as well. You may read and understand one thing, but it may mean something else in the actual lect. 1 Like |

chijiblaze: Sorry, bro, do you know anyone who actually speaks Ehugbo (Afikpo)? Because I am having great difficulty understanding how anyone can say it is just like Central Igbo. When we had an Afikpo househelp, we could only communicate with her in English. 1 Like |
