Cousim:lie from the pit of hell, they are asked to cover their hair and dress with humility nowhere in the quran with have the word hijab or Niqab, those are arab attires which existed way before Islam, there are African veils that the muslim girls can wear, stop importing arab culture and shoving it down our throats. hijabs for the middle east 5 Likes |

donroxy: Hijab does pose BIG harm!!!!! See if I give them Hijab, then I must give everybody what he wants or claims because I have to be neutral. If I give everybody what they want, then I am headed for chaos. We don't want chaos now, do we? 2 Likes |

rufychuks:Britain is not an Islamic state Yet you can wear Hijab to school there Is there anything we are not being told rufychuks:So what is the problem? I believe that I love a society that allows me as much freedom as possible than one that takes it away Why exactly are we discussing hijab and NOT the dressing that are designed to jailbait male teachers? Or is the Hijab more harmful than the dress worn by a temptress? Other muslim women who finished from federal unity schools and state schools wore the approved uniforms and many of them are now Professors, Lawyers, Lecturers, Engineers, Doctors and equally still devout muslimas. Why is wearing the hijab suddenly a big deal?
This is an argument that can be turned around The fact that some muslims(Christians) don't fast in Ramadan(Lenten period) should not be used against those who want to one can argue that the desire of some to wear Hijab should also be used to impose it on those that don't want to wear it rufychuks:As a Muslim, I am not in a position to judge who is devout and God-fearing I am still praying for the forgiveness of my own sins But Hijab is mandatory. It would be silly (or even sinful) for anyone not obeying the injunction of Allah to regard him/herself as devout! rufychuks:It is suddenly a "big dea@l because some muslims want to obey Allah to the best of their ability but some don't want it because every law abiding person makes the law breaker uncomfortable And Christians don't want it, although they should have remained neutral 4 Likes |

rufychuks:Right. Nigeria is not an Islamic state but d last time I check, dere is still freedom of Religion in Nigeria. Students dressing in approved uniform has never affected dia academic performance.. Dis is also ryt.. Using the Hijab will neither affect dia academic perfomance nor will it go obstruct non-muslims... So y not let dem practice dia religion since its not against d country's constitution and no-one is losing here. Its a win-win situation. 2 Likes |

Pls, Talk about your own heart. U don't know what is going on in my heart. Anybody is free to preach advertise or entertain in the bus. muslims are just not choosing to do that. And it causes disarray because there is a uniform. it's not like a Uni where there is no dress code. U don't let some wear what they like and hold others to abide by the dress code. It's favoritism. You know in your heart that you people are being too pertinacious and difficult to live with. BetaThings: 2 Likes |

CAMNEWTON4PRES:I find it tedious debating my religion with non-muslims I don't debate with Christians what their pastors say they should do during Church service, Christmas, or lent? The guy who posted the video was working to an answer Islam is based on the Quran and ahadeeth The text of the muslim call to prayer is not in the Quran How to perform ablution is explained in detail in the ahdeeth The guy should do what he wants and tell Allah he relied only on the Quran and NOT what the women who were with the Prophet (SAW) dd when the Quranic verse was revealed But I know what I know |

BetaThings: the point is hijab is not mentioned in th Quran, nor the hadith therefore it is not Islamic or a religious right, banning is not an attack on your religious right, women and men are asked to dress humbly that's all, covering of the hair is not even mandatory + we have African scarfs/veils. why the emphasis on hijab, niqab etc which are middle eastern attires and existed before Islam as much as I hate islam and African muslims , if you decide to be one, must you copy arabs? 4 Likes |

BetaThings: This your post just nailed it! No 7th day Adventist member (owners of babcock) will ever refuse to attend lectures on Saturdays if he/she were attending a public university. It will also not be wise of you to go and Babcock and insist you read on Saturdays when UNILAG is there that can let you read as you like. Public schools have a general uniform. If you think it is indecent for your wards, please move them to missionary schools. I am sure that if one of your children's classmate wore ifa's beads or attire to school, you will not be comfortable. 6 Likes |

CAMNEWTON4PRES:My point exactly You and he cannot explain Islam to me We spend time learning this stuff and Non-muslims will just throw random stuff at me and "explain" Islam to me!!! I went to a public secondary school where I had to learn CRK But I still don't debate christian theology with Christians I am not copying Arabs. I am practising Islam I have confronted an Arab before on Islamic matters As an aside if you hate African Muslims, why should I not love and copy Arabs? Anyway the matter of Hijab is explained in the hadeeth of Aisha (RA) As for hating, it is your choice But you owe yourself a duty as an educated person to truly understand what you hate BTW has it occurred to you that declaring proudly that you hate a religion is a problem in its own right? 6 Likes 2 Shares |

A step backwards for Lagos State The ban on hijab. If there is freedom of religion in Nigeria, what is the rationale behind banning the hijab? Are we going back to the days when muslims could not attend school unless they changed their names? Or is this the beginning of extending the ban to higher institutions? Whoever thought that it was okay to trample on people’s freedom has led this current administration quite astray. This is really backward and emotional thinking. I am amazed that some people here are happy and rejoicing about this. No wonder Jesus said in the Bible of the people he would siown on the day of judgement. He says: “Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father Who is in heaven. Many will say to me on the Judgment Day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in your name and driven out demons in your name and done many miracles in your name? Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Go away from me, you evildoers” My goodness, do you even look at Mary (AS) mother of Jesus? How did she dress and conduct herself? You sell your souls and eternity for the pittance of this life? This life which is so transient that the hour is any time - death? May Allah strengthen the muslims and give us victory against the evil doers. Amin Who is scared of the hijab and why 3 Likes |

bukatyne: How does it nail it? Do you know that Nigerians used to go to work on Saturdays And Gowon changed that? bukatyne: Not appearing in school on Saturday is different from being asked to expose myself everyday of the week If you expose yourself in school (major part of daylight period, 8 - 3), what is the point in covering for the rest of the day (minor part)? I am sure that if one of your children's classmate wore ifa's beads or attire to school, you will not be comfortable.
Why do people tell me what I would do in certain circumstances As for Ifa beads, it is not comparable to Hijab A Christians seamstress can sew the Hijab if she is open minded enoough Or you can buy Hijab from a Christian trader who sees it as a business I am not sure that the Ifa people would give it to a Christian seamstress to sow because they are likely to make those incantations while they are sewing the beads BTW You are likely to have encountered people wearing Hijab before - commercial vehicles, hospitals etc Have you seen people with Ifa attire in those places Meaning - Hijab is to be worn at all times and Ifa dress is for special occasions esp when they want to "fight" people, at least from what I see in home videos 1 Like |

sparkymummy:Whenever somebody start taking about intelligence, I pause because he exposes himself to needlessly to potential ridicule To make matters worse you did not read what I responded to So if somebody says Hijab is dwelling in the past, it is only dwelling in the past if it is worn in the school But it is not dwelling in the past if it is worn up to the school gate and removed at that point? And the nun attire will also be dwelling in the past if it is worn to school These arguments lead you to wonder where Nigerian Christians have put the Bible Everyday they tell me Christianity means love but when they act, I ask myself is this what they are actually calling me to? I have my personal standard of tolerance Sadly Christianity as practised in Nigeria does not measure up to it 1 Like |
