Babatunde Raji Fashola will be leaving Lagos state better than he met it, True or False ?

The thing is that he is not a Saint, but I will have to say that He is a very good administrator, although with his flaws which is peculiar to human nature.

Let's take Abia as a case study with its Mega City "Aba" in a totally collapsed state, anybody who inherits the governance of Abia and commences rebuilding of Aba will need more than 8 years and 5 Trillion Naira to repair the city of Aba, which has continuosly decayed since 1983 December. That's 31 years of Decay.

Fashola is not a Magician and can't be everywhere at the same time. He inherited a rotten Lagos and he sure has done so much.
In the case of Akwa ibom, with the Highest Federal allocation which is usually ten times that of other states and in a virgin undeveloped area, tarring roads and building stadium will be eaier than built up but rotten areas where u will have to demolish, pay compensation, go to court, clear debris revamp site, prepare it and start start afresh.

Our people expect so much without giving much.
I urge you to come to Akwa Ibom and see that 98.5% of Akwa Ibom people are emmeshed in poverty. I now wonder how they will grow with all the elephant projects and billions that will be committed to their maintainance. Akwa Ibom state is not debt free, for our information.

Fashola has over 20 million people to manage, in this number are civilized people, crazy people, foreigners, military, village to lagos first timers, touts and all sort of characters.
This population generates chaos, mega noise, air pollution, solid waste and sewage and other sorts of nuisance, managing them and building infrastructure silmutaneously is aa herculean task even with your trillions.
A road is asphalted today and Lagosians need to use it today today without even letting it set.
Upon this huge population, Lagos has stayed relatively low on crime rate and kidnapping, than the so celebrated Akwa Ibom.

Fashola is not a Saint, Yes and Agreed but he is good.

I am yet to see Governors who have done well as Governors who inheritted rot and cleaned it up to a great extent;

Fashola inherited a rotten Lagos.
Amaechi inherited a collapsed Rivers.
Chime inherited a Ran-down Enugu
Oshiomhole inherited a backward and finished Edo
Okorocha inherited a collapsed Imo
Akpabio inherited an already forming Akwa Ibom, many projects at 60% completion stage and a Revise and greatly Improved Revenue source, yet his achievements are not commensurate with what Akwa Ibom has earned so far.

Whoever that will inherit rotten, collapsed, finished and backward Abia is in deep trouble as there is a major task ahead.
is it in this same akwa ibom am living that 98.5% people r submerged in poverty? uncle you can lie oooo

Some say Fashola is overrated if you consider the resources at his disposal but all of you fail to also consider the fact that 1. Lagos was in a mess before he came in 2. The same resources was at the disposal of the other governors before him.
who mess Lagos up before he came him?

Well said. When they talk about development in Lagos, they keep showing us Ikoyi and Lekki. There are several places in Lagos that hasn't changed one bit in Fashola's 8 yrs. Sometimes,I park my car at the office and walk home because the road to my house is terribly bad. Driving through it would only destroy the vehicle. It's only when I'm using an SUV,that I can drive to and fro work regularly.

I have always seen fashola's government as a bit overrated and elitist. The fact that he is being touted as the best leader Nigeria has to offer really shows you that Nigeria still has major mountains to climb. Hopefully the next governor of lagos whether (APC or PDP) governs the state better than fashola.

sidenote: One underrated governor in my opinion is Liyel Imoke. The work he has been doing in cross river state with the limited resources and the debt he inherited from his predecessor has been encouraging. I am especially impressed with the rural road and water projects, smart city initiative and the land reform project of his administration.

davitogreat:

If APC is truly a progressive party then fashola must be their candidate.

1. Fasholais overrated, but you still want him to be your president?

You people need to keep up with your hate, bad bele and the things you say all over the place...

2. Apart from the white elephant convention center, what else is going on in Cross Rivers state?

When was the last time any governor in that region commissioned anything? Please educate us?

3. Why not just show us the so called projects? Don't bother because I know you can not and wont but instead dance around or come up with insults.

All you people have is mouth with ZERO facts to back up your claims with.

How many people and families has the administration of Fashola lifted out of poverty in the last 7 years ?( a case of Okada riders and traders readily comes to mind) Rather, what we have is more people sinking back into poverty due to the policies of the state government which largely have negated jobs creation. More companies are going down due to double taxation from the state and local govts. The state of the roads are nothing to write home about especially the Trunk C roads. Some areas, deliberately maybe due to the parts majority of those residing there comes from (Ago Palace way). The fact is Fashola is no friend of the poor and from his actions and policies are subtly passing the message across.

Your question should be ,
How many Nigerians and non Yorubas has fashola lifted out poverty?"

Answer : millions
Y'all come to the SW with the Ghana-must-go on your head ,head straight to one of the slums, put your kids in one of Lagos public schools , give birth in a hospital ( all things virtually (non - functional) in your region. You become slightly enlightened and all of a sudden, I did it on my own.
According to your logic , the roads, bridges, hospitals are being built by robot ,rubbish collected by invisible men ,garden and park tended by zombies , power stations just growing from the ground etc ?

What is the population of lagos compared to akwa ibom. Do you know akwa ibom is richer than lagos.

Now akwa ibom IGR from last count is 14.5billion let's say its 20billion lagos IGR is well ova 300billion, federal allocation for akwa ibom is 260 billion, lagos is 168 billion do the arithmetic remba lagos does not pay for security and so many other things which is from the cooperate fund. Now as a quantity surveryor the cost of construction between lagos and akwa ibom is 1:3, who is deciving who. Lagos is the best kept secret of financial misappropriation. Boss am sure you went to school.
Akwa-ibom Igr will surpass that in a year and if it doesn't, it is their government problem for relying on federal allocation. You have to divide the total money by the population of each state. Akwa-ibom has about 5 million people compare to 20 million people in lagos, it a simple economics I learnt in my ss1 days sir.

I happen to stay in alimosho LG and I can attest to the fact that the LCDAs are the ones to blame. For example, a road in my area has been allocated money for rehabilitation by the state govt buh d lcda chairman and his cohorts swindled d money. Now we the residents contribute yearly to grade the road.

LCDA is not recognised under the nigerian constitution. So fashola can not be absolved from this cos the LG allocations are being managed by the SG.

Compare Fashola's resources to Our president's and you will know he would do better than the i wear no shoe fool...Ok what about Kano and Niger delta's resources, tell me about thier infrastructure...See Gbenga Daniel and you cant still commend this man and you are telling me he his being hyped cos you want him to transform Lagos to Dubia...Ok

I am not saying he his holy or doesnt mismanage government funds but I think he his among the best if not the best.

Godfatherism is the root of all the mismanagement of funds.
