Hello Doctor, Please I need your assistance, something whitetish in colour coming out of my husband pe**s and he did urine culture test ,the test revealed klebsiella sp infection. Please can this infection affect his fertility because we are on TTC and what is the way out?. |
Re: Health Advice: Doctors Online by Nobody: 6:49am On Nov 09, 2014 |
honeyjoy77: Yes it can, and it does affect fertility if left untreated. The form of Klebsiella infection your hubby has is UTI. It is responsible for the penial discharge he's having, and sadly, it can be transmitted sexually. It is not actually safe for you to indulge in unprotected s*x with him. You may need to abstain having s*x with him or u insist he uses cond*m till he's completely free from the infection. Treatment would be in line with the outcome of his sensitivity test. So maybe you can send me an email with the result of his sensitivity test. |

anonymous: A lot of pregnant ladies die yearly from unsafe ABs. A lot contract PID from unsafe ABs. A lot experince hormonal imbalance from the use of unrecommended drugs/pills. A lot sustain asherman syndrome. And at the end, some are left with the problems of TTC! In their bid to save their today........they put their tomorrow at risk |
Re: Health Advice: Doctors Online by Nobody: 11:34am On Nov 09, 2014 |
anonymous: I went by the scan report that the preg is 15weeks old. If u backdate, it means her LMP(last menstrual period) would be july, somewhere around 24th, 25th, 26th or 27th. That's the maths. Meaning her ovulation would be around 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, or 11th. But then, if she actually menstruated on August 2nd, 3rd or 4th, as she said she did, then 7th or 8th of August you guys had sex was her proliferative phase. She wasn't ovulating then or wasn't in her fertile period. Her fertile period wld be smwhere within 15th to 20th August(if her cycle was 28days), meaning for her to get pregnant, she must have had sex within 15th to 20th. And if u count from August 2nd, 3rd, or 4th till that date of the scan, it would give 14weeks gone, and the scan read 15weeks. And u said she called 9days after u last had sex with her(7th/8th August + 9days = 16th of august), complaining she's having abdominal pain, and did a PT strip which tested positive, and that's unlikely for a Strip to test positive on the exact day of fertilization, or even a day after. Here's my conclusion: If she last saw her menses Aug 2nd, 3rd, or 4th, then she must have had sex within 15th to 20th(fertile period), to validate the 14/15wks gone. The pregnancy is not yours! But, is she ur long term g/f or fiancee? |

anonymous: The shortest MC is 21days. Ovulation would likely occur much earlier than it does in average MC(28days). The fertile period will span from 7th to 12th of the 21day cycle. Now if we assumed she has an SMP, and she observed her menstruation on Aug 2nd, it means her fertile period would span from Aug 7th to Aug 12th. You had sex with her on Aug 7th or 8th, which would turn out to be her fertile period. If you count from the day she observed her last menstruation to the day the scan read 15weeks, it gives you exactly 98days. Divide 98days by 31days and you'll get 3months 2weeks, or you divide by 7days, and you'll get 14weeks(still close to 15weeks). For me this was going to be her benefit of doubt, but her desperation to get rid of the pregnancy is what's making me think otherwise! Her alibis would be SMP and the inconvenience the pregnancy would cause. And if that's the case, then the pregnancy might just be yours amigo! |

Sleekbaby: That's drug abuse. During menstruation, the uterine lining sheds, and when the bleeding stops, it means the lining has finished shedding. There's no remnant product. NB: you may want to warn those who take antibiotics to shed whatever remnant they presume to desist from such drug abuse, lest they have hormonal distortion and TTC problems. |
Re: Health Advice: Doctors Online by Nobody: 6:25am On Nov 10, 2014 |
lilmaydee: Persistent malaria is likely caused by exo-erythrocytic phase of the malarial infection. The parasites are likely incubating in the liver in form of hypnozoites, and tend to hatch later on to release the merozoites, I hope I'm right?!. The antimalarial medications you took/take only eradicate the erythrocytic form of the parasite known as the trophozoite. But the hypnozoite incubating in the liver later on(likely after 2wks or 3wks or more) hatch into the merozoite which is released into the bloodstream, and begins another malarial cycle. What you need is an antimalarial that would eradicate the hypnozoite from the liver. |
Re: Health Advice: Doctors Online by Nobody: 6:38am On Nov 10, 2014 |
barbie6: That swelling is an abscess! The needle the piercer used on you wasn't properly sterilized, and I presume you didn't take antibiotic after the ear was pierced, thus it led to infection and inflammation. The rope you tied on the abscess simply exacerbated the swelling, and led to further growth. The abscess has to be anaesthetised and ruptured. It doesn't require a major surgery, just a very simple procedure. PM me or add me on BBM let me recommend what you can take to ease the pain, and also recommend where you can have the abscess ruptured. |

anonymous: If u check ur 1st post on this thread, u gave two different dates. U 1st posted 8th of Aug as the day u had sex with her. Later u posted 7th. Could it be u can't recollect the exact date u guys had sex? Could it be u actually had sex 9th or 10th or 11th of Aug? |
Re: Health Advice: Doctors Online by Nobody: 7:49am On Nov 10, 2014 |
anonymous: The pregnancy is yours jare! Since she has 26day cycle, and her ovulation is on the 12th of her cycle, making 11th, 10th, 9th, and even 8th as her fertile period! That baby is most likely goin to be a girl. Your X-sperm must have survived long enough in her tube till the egg got released. Tell her to keep your pregnancy else you'll have her arrested. Who knows if that baby is going to be the future Miss World! |

Re: Health Advice: Doctors Online by Nobody: 9:17am On Nov 10, 2014 |
lilmaydee: Mp=negative means the antimalarial cleared the parasites from your blood. But the hypnozoites are so difficult to eradicate. A combination of antimalarial is required to eradicate the hypnozoites from the liver in order to put an end to the recurrence. I won't Rx drugs here. Maybe you can add me on BBM or send me a PM |

STENON: I'm sorry about the "fish-induced-nausea". I even forgot to mention that my uncle once had this fish-induced-nausea. But it normally happens when he takes boiled fish. Later on, he tried fried fish and never felt the nausea. Well, it's nt a must you eat fish. You can always eat crayfish, shrimp, or prawn to make up for the fish. Your menstrual pain(dysmenorrhea) is the action of prostaglandin on the smooth muscles of the your uterus(womb). The hormone causes the muscles to contract so the endometrium can shed. In your case, the hormone secretion is quite much, and that's why you're having unbearable menstrual cramp. The piroxicam you took wasn't effective enough in antagonising the hormone. I honestly don't know if sugar has anything to do with prostaglandin secretion, but I do know banana has an effect in reducing the secretion of that hormone. I sincerely can't recommend or Rx some kinds of drugs on this platform, because the moderator keeps infringing on my right by banning me from replying on health topics. So I'll have to ask you to PM me or add me on BBM. |

hello doctor. before I got pregnant, I had irregular periods, weight gain, hormonal imbalance and polycystic ovaries; hence the doctor diagnosed it as PCOS. I took metformin, m2tone for a while, then clomid; and conceived. Though the doctor already said I should stop the metformin, I've been reading online that metformin actually helps to reduce rate of miscarriage in the first trimester. I'm seven weeks along, I've started tapering off the metformin(500mg every three days now), but I'm kinda scared of stopping completely. Should I stop, and is there a better way to manage a Pcos related pregnancy? |
Re: Health Advice: Doctors Online by Nobody: 5:10pm On Nov 10, 2014 |
haemi: Well, your physician knows better since he/she has your case file, and knows about your medical history. He told you to discontinue the use of the drug because he probably didn't want it to interfere with foetal development. Your tapering is very instinctive, but you just have to trust your physician's judgement and discontinue using the drug. You can get the FBS kit and regularly check your blood sugar level. Whenever it rises above the normal level, then you can continue taking the drug again. |

trinidad: If your gyn indicated varicocelectomy going by a seminal analysis report alone, then I'm highly disappointed in him. Varicocele is reliably diagnosed using Ultrasound scan in which the varicocele is seen and identified. Also, clinical signs and palpation are employed in its diagnosis. Well, you can consult another gynae or an urologist, preferably, and see if he'll indicate the same treatment after he must have carried out proper diagnosis. |
Re: Health Advice: Doctors Online by kathyb: 2:58pm On Nov 11, 2014 |
Hello doctor please what causes frequent early morning headache |
Re: Health Advice: Doctors Online by Nobody: 4:48pm On Nov 11, 2014 |
kathyb: Perhaps, the days before the nights you slept and woke with headache were stressful. High stress level tends to wear out red blood cells, and reduce their oxygen carrying capacity. When you sleep, less oxygen is supplied to the brain cells, and when you wake, you're left with an headache. Or, there might be other underlying factors responsible for cerebrohypoxia. What you should do is to run malaria parasite test, widal test, PCV count, check your BP, and also check your blood sugar level. And don't forget to cut down your stres level by limiting your physcial input into your day to day work, and always exercise regularly. Need I tell you to always take fruits and vegetables?! |
