please how would one birthing in phoenix get the baby's naija visit. help!!!!
lizcom25:
@Iyawotobe: Let me just give my personal countdown. The birth certificate came 8days after it was taken. Since my wife gave birth on a saturday, the BC was submitted on a Monday and so i notified it was ready for pick on the 8th day start counting from Monday. Then went to elpaso county to pick the BC on the 9th day and also did the baby US passport on the 9th day. So got the US Passport on the 10th day. I will add 5 working days for the Nigeria Visa to be done at Atlanta. So you should be ready to do everything between 4-6weeks after birth

Lmao, why she no go mind us? its really not easy to read through the thread, but you and i know she would be doing herself a better favor. Let me try and help.

@JulietJay, give us something to work with.
these are the basic steps:
(If you don't have a visa, Start here)
1.start getting information on hospital prices and Contact a doctor (OBGYN) ( Any hospital or obgyn would do ( apart from Doctoress pa ra ti)
2. Get your statement of account ready.
3. pay and schedule a visa appointment
4. During your interview declare your intentions honestly ( gone are the days of lying during interview)
Skip 1-4 if you have your visa
5. If you dint inform the embassy you were pregnant when you had you interview/ application ( if you used drop-box), send a mail to the embassy
6. Start working on getting the hospital and the doctor you would eventually use.
7. Try to book an appointment with them.
8. Have them send you a checklist of each item you would be paying for doctors, Hospital, Pediatrician , epidural etc..)
9. if your husband wont be with you, get him to sign a consent for and get it notarized by a notary public, don't include date just yet( you would need this when processing your babies documents
10. Book you ticket/ fly
11 have your BURDEN OF PROOF ready, come back hereto share your POE story
12. Have your baby
13.Get your babies birth certificate, then use this to get his or her passport, then use this to get a Nigerian visa ( you can get a Nigerian passport when you return home if you cant sweat it.
14. buy you babies ticket, come back home

now this is alot to take in, but just the basic steps, i may have missed few steps, but start here...
truth is, to expand all of these, you may still need to read at least a 100 pages cos every single thing has been explained in details, over and over, and over again..[/quote]

the answer is already on the thread, but for God's sake i would answer again. Google hospitals around the area you plan to stay, read reviews of the hospital to narrow down your search, then contact them (call or send email) to get hospital bills for " self-pay/Uninsured patients ( ask for discounts since your paying in full). Then start scouting for doctors through the same means.the thread has alot of hospitals, i have 36 written down, and there are more. If you already have a place in mind. a hospital may have been mentioned here.

This question has been answered in details like 10 times.., cry, sadly i cant answer it properly. A guru analyzed it well, he said something about applying alone and using your husband as a tie here in Nigeria or so. Either them guru's free the groundnut and answer or you read through the thread, sorry dear...

Good day all. To be candid, i have not read all on this post. i want to ask a question. What of someone that already has a visa and after buying ticket for herself and her husband, later got pregnant. She had to cancel it and buy another ticket towards when she will be traveling. What are the necessary things she would need to put in place? Would it be advisable to travel with foodstuffs like fish and the rest. The visa type is B1/B2 and its first time visit.
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by Virtuousdiva: 1:02pm On Nov 14, 2014
@daddy.....first of all,I see you really need answers but you didn't ask your question well so I would ask again so we'll all know what you are looking for
1) what do you mean by necessary things? If it's documents to show at the point of entry...go through the thread carefully.
2) To carry fish to the US....I don't think so...if you google prohibited items on cbp website,it's prohibited but some people are still able to get away with carrying clean and packaged dried fish(I wouldn't do that though)
3) What are the REST you mentioned?Let us know so you won't go with palm oil ooooo grin

I will advise you make that 1st trip (when you got the visa she wasn't pregnant i gather from your info and obviously when she went for the interview she wasn't either, she got pregnant shortly after that) they may miscalculate and if the question Are you pregnant? came from the VO during your interview and I am sure your answer would obviously have been NO. It will throw a red light when you travel close to delivery.... you may be questioned why you didn't declare that you want to go have your baby meanwhile that wasn't the intention for applying for a visa in the first place...i stand to be corrected.

If you can afford it, I will strongly advice you use the visa 1st for holidaying before she probably starts showing and use that medium to sort hospital, doctors, even make down payment etc...it will be easier whilst you are there to secure all this.

I have a friend who had similar situation, so she traveled with her husby and 1st son in March then went back in June to have her baby.

Just my little cent.....

Me, my wife and daughter did our visa interview today, at the end of the interview, the consular officer collected my bank statement and told us we will be contacted. He didn't ask much question.

VO: good morning
Us: good morning
VO: you were denied visa in April 2014.
Me: yes (in April 2014, our purpose of visit was same as today, but we didn't have doctor correspondence)
VO: what's your purpose of visit this time.
Me: vacation and childbirth
VO: childbirth is for your wife and not you, right
Me: yes ( with a smile)
VO: do you have doctor correspondence?
Me: yes ( I gave him email correspondence with hospital, letter of medical responsibility and 2-receipts from hospital & Ob/Gyn Doctor of 50% down payment for Hospital and for Physician bills).
VO: he read them
VO: your account statement pls ?
Me: I gave him
VO: (he left his seat with the account statement, spend about 3-mins and came back, and started typing for about 1-min)
VO: we will contact you later, don't pay any money, don't reapply.. We will contact you after further administrative processes t(he took only my bank statement and return other document to me) he also issue us a paper (221g) and mark the part that concern us,

The part marked says ," additional administrative processing is required. No further action on your part necessary. Consular section will contact you when the case is ready"

1) do anyone knows how long the administrative process will take?
2) Do anyone know if they will consider our dec 9th departure date to US, and our doctor appointment date dec 11th?

My account statement in my previous interview was low, due to dubai trip with my family. But in this interview as a permanent staff of multinational firm, I used my current acct statement so as to show source of my monthly income, I was able to maintain btw 2.7 to 5.2 for the 4-months statement.. The last balance on the acct statement was 5.1
