The next to be removed should be the Arabic inscriptions on our military badges, and rankings....Nigeria is a secular state...period.

This madness has to stop, National assembly is built like a mosque, the presidential villa is built like a mosque....This country belongs to us all and is never a religious state. visit any ministry, parastatal or agency of the government in Abuja. the master plan of those buildings have mosques...They couldn't have the freedom to do that in Lagos, and came up with the script that the capital of Nigeria has to be at the center of Nigeria.

We just need to be security conscious cos in matter of days the news that Hausa/Islamic Inscriptions has been removed will go viral, they will tag all of us HARNI (meaning Unbeliever) and may go on rampage killing themselves not me.

I remember my uncle who was a member of MPR telling me that Soludo had good plans for the Naira but the northern hegemony wont allow him. That his problem with Yaradua began the day he raised it in their meeting that Nigeria is a secular state and so should not have any religious inscription in our currency. He said YARADUA heard of it before that meeting ended. Of course his brothers informed him. Yaradua called Soludo as the meeting was ending to ask how true.

Most people think Soludos tenure was not renewed because of the planned devaluation of the naira which presidency claims they were not carried along. but the inscription on the naira was the genesis of Soludos crisis with Yaradua. OBJs grand plan was that Soludo should remain and complete the devaluatuion plan.

In days to come expect the northern elites reaction to this removal.and may be Bokoharam taking more innocent lives in protest...Nigeria belongs to them and we are their slaves...so an average northerner thinks.

Except for those suffering from historical Amnesia, the 2015 struggle to take power by the north is never born out of the love for Nigeria. The North has not forgiven Southern Nigeria for the death of Yaradua. In their heart, in their mosques, its a subject of discuss that Jonathan is seating on their chance and must be unseated no matter what. Ineeded, Jonathan has disappointed all of us greatly but the North seeking power on the premise that it belongs to them or based on vendetta is a NO NO for me and all intellectual minds.

I dont know how we came up with Quota system, but that stuff has only served in the interest of the north. I dont know any southerner who has benefited from Quota system. We sacrificed merit at the altar of that Northern grand plan. If not tell me why Fashola should not be given APC presidential ticket to have a good election. But try that and see the viper react...It must be them or nothing. They annuled June 12, gave it to Weak Shonekan for few months and chased him out again, killed Abiola in the prison so that , his case will remain in the ash bin of history. Today, my people cry for remeberance of June 12 and they laugh from Minna and Kano.they knew what they were doing... If you are up north during the election, and Jonathan is declared winner, better run for your life. They will unleash the evil dragon, what Bokoharam is doing now is childs play compared to the plan.

First of all Ajami isnt used in anything in the North anymore except for a few Islamic schools. And even that is very few.

Secondly i find it completely pathetic how the Moderator and ofcourse Both the Muslims and christians that made this a big deal on this forum.

I wanna ask the Muslims here who do you know that uses Ajami? So why should it bother you because its removed from the currency for whatever
reasons. Why turn everything into an 'Us vs Them'

Then ofcourse to the Non-Muslims that had nothing but negativity to post here, I only want to point out how utterly and ridiculously stupid you are for actually making something as small as this some sort of Major issue.

Its just so laughable how you people have some irrational fear of 'Arabic Language', but oh well its your problem.

Someone said something about 'Hausa's think they own the country' So In your tiny peanut brain you actually believe Ajami was used on the currency
because 'Hausas think they own the country' and not because in the 1960 era people were using it to identify the currency?

And lastly i wanna say to the Muslims (the first few that bothered to reply) here the biggest mistake you made was giving these people the excuse to turn this into a Muslim hating thread although from what i saw it only took a few posts from Maclatunji to gather the congregation of Anti-Muslims.

Summary: No One in the North cares about removing Ajami from the currency, nobody uses Ajami outside Islamic schools. The reactions of Non-Muslims in
this thread is nothing but a showcasing of their ignorance, stupidity and hate, but those are all the norms in Nigeria so it really doesnt matter.

You need to give people that have decided to give themselves stomach ache over the existence of other people some stress because it is something they deserve.

Despite all their hate, they still have not overcome their irrational fear. A few may think, reflect and make ammends.

Ignoring them all the time just makes them worse.

Lol the name of the topic was initially "Islamic inscription removed" instead of "Arabic". You shouldn't blame the Muslims from commenting(This article is more about ethnicity than religion so it shouldn't bother the Muslims in anyway...well i guess they are bothered because of the anti-islam comments). The first eight pages was generated because of that title hence the massive anti-islam comments. After much cry the title have now been changed but the damage has already been done. I only came here to tell them that is Ajami(The Hausa language written with Arabic script), If it is Islamic(Or any other religion) i would have advocated for its removal. Nigeria is better off a secular state not just on papers. You would be surprised 90% of the people commenting here both Muslims and Christians alike didn't even bother to read the article or are just simply ignorant and uneducated. The answers to most of the questions asked here have been provided in the article including the meaning of the inscription. Yet many of the comments here are either asking silly questions or making baseless assumptions....Confirming my speculation that many Nairalanders don't read.

You have some valid points anyway...

Myopic people indeed, well stated, what is wrong accommodating other people? How has removing this change your life? Jonathan is playing politics with myopic Christians who would feel they have won some sort of victory, while him and his cronies continue ruing the economy implicitly or explicitly. When people think illiterates are the only one manipulable by religion we fail to the see the fact that myopic literates fare no better!
and you guys just keep using the word 'myopic' like you are an elder sitting down and able to see what a child(jonathan) cannot see. this is not a victory of any sort to the christians, if you think the actual reason for the arabic inscriptions on the note is for the northerners to be able to read the note, then it you who is myopic. Have you gone to the north before? they call the notes with english or hausa not arabic because money is important and they have to learn it. would we also say that part or most of our constitution that was created with islam in mind was because of one flimsy excuse or the other? Arabic is the language of Islam which is a religion, and its not meant to be on any of our notes, or would support they start putting inscriptions from the bible or whatever religion is out there?

THE MUSLIMS ARE NOT HAPPY!
By Gerald's Spirit.
They're not happy in the north of Nigeria ..
They're not happy in Gaza ..
They're not happy in Egypt ..
They're not happy in Libya ..
They're not happy in Morocco ..
They're not happy in Iran ..
They're not happy in Iraq ..
They're not happy in Yemen ..
They're not happy in Afghanistan ..
They're not happy in Pakistan ..
They're not happy in Syria ..
They're not happy in Lebanon ..

SO, WHERE ARE THEY HAPPY?

They're happy in Australia ..
They're happy in Canada..
They're happy in England ..
They're happy in France ..
They're happy in Italy ..
They're happy in Germany ..
They're happy in Sweden ..
They're happy in the USA ..
They're happy in Norway ..
They're happy in Holland ..
They're happy in Denmark ..

Basically, they're happy in every country that is not Muslim and unhappy in every country that is!

AND WHO DO THEY BLAME?
Not Islam.
Not their leadership.
Not themselves.

THEY BLAME THE COUNTRIES THEY ARE HAPPY IN!
And then they want to change those countries to be like the country they came from where they were unhappy!
THEY EVEN BLAME THE CHRISTIANS! Ridiculous

I also find it funny that the opponents of the Arabic script are motivated by hate and to a lesser extent fear. Removing the scripts will not change their fear or reduce their hate. I find it amusing as a result.

I know from the beginning that Goodluck Jonathan is God sent to deliver us from the bondage of the islamists. Nigeria is not an islamic nation, we need to join hands together to support Jonathan to end the APC agenda to islamise Nigeria. It is only a pity for the Southerners that allow themselves to be used in this quest to islamise our dear country. Even Egypt rejected the islamic brotherhood party, so why Nigeria. I pray, their plans will not work.

God bless Goodluck Jonathan!

God bless Nigeria!
