andrewza: April 2014 NAF Chief of staff officially anounced that Nigeria had already acquired new type of fighter aircraft to be showcased to the public later. NAF is not in hurry to display our new combat aircraft, no rush, no photo cr.aze, no P.R. image boosting cr.aze. Nigeria is not a noisemaker like South Africa http://www.punchng.com/news/fg-okays-new-fighter-jets-for-air-force/ . . 1 Like |

agaugust: Shut up, the whole of Africa is inferior to SA in terms of artillery batteries. You keep on waining and waining about Indian FH77B which India has upgraded. Show us Nigerian artillery or else keep that mouth shut. India with their FH77B came to SA begging for artillery which is equivalent to G6. So, tell me was India stupidd to have ever made such a purchase? As far as this topic is concerned we are not going to entertain you anymore. You lost!!!! Next topic please!!! |

patches689: I don't know how many times did I tell them this even before their chief confessed about obsolence of equipments in their force, especially @agaugust. You know that's the basics of espionage by collecting vital information about any force during battle. The type of equipments and weapons that they use leaves a lot to be desired. It is no longer a secret even before lay people that Nigeria does not have weapons and that most of their equipments are obsolete. They cannot hide that before the media anymore given the way they have been handling insurgents and how in many occasions terrorists have repelled their offensive. It is very unusual that civilians would ever help military in what military is responsible to carry out alone. In that way civilians have the rights to also claim that they are no longer just civilians and deserve to be rewarded payment which is equal to that of soldiers. That unprofessional behavior of military sending civilians on the forefront to do their dirty job is unconventional and seek to disgrace their integrity. As a military man I have been thought to honour Geneva convention rules of not involving civilians in any conflicts that directly interfere with military operations. That action is clearly rebellious in nature and can only be attributed to rebels. |

Henry120: When defence web said you bought a merlin in a VIP role you said no such think took place. They now posted a pic of it in Nigeria. 2 difrent milltary news agencies reported Nigerias intened to buy the scorpion and you say they both wrong? And yes nigeria has not in fact paid for any thing. |

Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Nobody: 8:19am On Nov 20, 2014 |
andrewza: You cannot buy an Aircraft still under-development. We also expressed interests in buying the J-10b, have we gotten them yet? I did not believe the defenceweb story, as at that time I knew the Airforce had placed orders for additional transport helicopters. And as such, wanted to see a credible source to substantiate the story. Nigeria has placed orders for a substantial amount of helicopters from belarus and ukraine (up-graded with FLIR, MI-35 and MI-17 helicopters), and brand new MI-35M and MI-171sh from russia. Previous orders for Russian MI-35M have are been delivered. What I initially asked for was clarity. |

Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by andrewza: 8:21am On Nov 20, 2014 |
Henry120: No where did she say there where "no". There is a shortage not zero. Big diffrence and it is mainly due to how long it takes to qulfie. It can take up to 1 year for a mech to be qulfied as a duty tech on a frigat that excludes his training and other courses. It takes years for a piot to qet his wings, hell even MRS take 1 year of training(has in 1 year of time on course) before they qulfie. Basic SF training (has before they spelcize and after selecstion) is 17 months. Normal infantry training is all ready 9 months. A comms ratting in the navy does a 9 month course and needs to get 80% plus on his test to pass. A officer in the navy spends 9 months at officer training and arround 2 years at the defence college or unversty before becoming some junior officer that is allowed to train in the fleet. So yes there is shortage of qulfie people. |
Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by mzilakazi(m): 8:23am On Nov 20, 2014 |
Henry120: Nah!!! Chief, our minister was using her skills to entice the parliament into voting for defence review which seeks to expand our military in strength, volume and power. Our military is not in the same conditions under which Nigerian military find itself in. The defence review document which minister tabled before parliament pinpointed all the challenges and shortcomings facing the defence in the country and the solutions which can be implemented. Among others, it seeks to increase military budget and spending, increase the strength of defence, rejuvenate the force, address the issue of shortage of professionals and pilots, replenish and replace the obsolete and aging equipment, and for the establishment of a new rapid deployment force. |
Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by andrewza: 8:25am On Nov 20, 2014 |
Henry120: Defenceweb is credbil though. And no one said you bought them. Only you want to buy them. Defenceweb all so spoke about the other choppers. |

mzilakazi: You can only succeed in deceiving yourself. |
Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Nobody: 8:26am On Nov 20, 2014 |
andrewza: Defenceweb is not a credible source. Like i've stated previously, we are only evaluating the aircraft. We are buying it or any lethal equipment from America. |

Henry120: Like it or not that a fact my friend. The is a new defence review document that the minister is promoting and to me and other soldiers across the country is very good to us. That's a job well done to our lady minister. |
Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Nobody: 8:31am On Nov 20, 2014 |
andrewza: So this is why you only have 8 qualified Gripen pilots for your fleet of 26 planes, since trainings and deliveries began. Anyway, you're saying the same thing, as I am, only in a long needless manner. In simply terms, you and the rest of your military personnel are simply to dull to qualify for anything. It's the same message your defence minister was passing across, only in a less hurtful manner. |
