SA has the biggest entertainment industry in africa?
lol.
You must be high on cheap castle beer.
The Nigerian movie industry(nollywood) alone is bigger than the entertainment industry of the SADC region put together.
Even the music industries are not comparable.
I doubt if there is any current SAn musician as rich and famous across the continent as wizkid, let alone the likes of dbanj, 2face, don jazzy , tiwa savage. psquare, flavour.
These are the current kings and queens of africa's music industry.

Nollywood is worth $800million a year... 2 South African malls make more money that.

You're ignorant

@my fellow SAns: let us leave these delusional and ignorant Nigerians. Please understand they are hungry and malnourished therefore their brains lack nutrition to develop properly and be able to absorb knowledge and function properly. Talking sense to them is a pointless exercise. Their arrogance knows no bounds, even when it clearly does not serve them.

@Naijas: since you have such a wonderful a wonderful economy and government, come get your brothers and sisters they are depleting our "pathetic" economy, clearly our sympathy to their plight has been misguided.

As usual comprehension is a big southafrican problem.
The G20 is just a talking meeting, it has little impact on the world economic realities.
And no, i was not advocating that SA be kicked out even though SA is not a G20 country anyway.
I said if Nigeria became a top 10 world economy, which is very possible, then the G20 will be given to us on a platter, probably at the expense of SA.
Btw, what makes SA strategic?
Is it the shrinking economy, widespread unionism, growing recession e.t.c.
Nigeria has a much better economic growth, growing middle class and prospects even without doing much.
The main reason SA is still in the G20 is because the G20 group does not fancy making radical changes like that for the sake of continuity.
And also the difference in the economy of both nations is still somewhat marginal.

- First you state the G20 is useless BUT you wish Nigeria was part of it.

- Second you fail to explain to me why the G20 was useless, so I will take it its useless because Nigeria is sidelined...... as usual.

- Again you fail to point out which G20 economy was lesser than of Pakistan and Egypt.

Your ignorance is persistent

Nollywood is bullsh8 low quality movie industry. South Africa makes movies that sell international.

- Name me a single Nigerian movie that has made $100mil in Box Office.... there's none.

- Name me any Nigerian who has been nominated for an Oscar.

Nollywood made close to $1.0 billion last year and is by far the biggest movie industry of black origin, excluding black hollywood.
These are facts verifiable online.
South african movie industry is a dwarf.
The fact that nollywood movies are proliferated all over the african continent, south america, the carribean and even some parts of europe shows you how big it is.

Henry, we have discussed this a million times.

Nigeria's economy is nothing but creative economics by Madam Ngozi and her boss Jonathan. If Nigeria's economy was all what its claimed to be then why.

- South Africa has the largest stock exchange at the value of US$182.6 billion compared to Nigeria's $80.8 billion
- South Africa has a tax base which is 3 times of Nigeria's tax base
- South Africa has 85% of Africa's top 30 largest companies - Nigeria has 0

These just prove the supremacy of the South African economy in Africa.

JSE is worth $1 trillion and NSE is worth $80 Billion
SA budget $120Billion and Nigeria is $23Billion

SA has 85% africa's to 30 largest companies, nigeria zero

Shows just how little you know. The Asian Tigers are social DEMOCRATIC countries that practice collective capitalism my pumpkin. Many European and South American countries such as Germany and France also practice social democracy, as does SA. There is no pure "form" of democracy or capitalism. Social democracy is the most practiced form of democracy the world over and has proved to improve people's livelihoods. Shame the Nigerian situation is pathetically sad, it seems your government has been feeding you propaganda that is designed to put blinders on your eyes and it clearly has been working.

Fact remains Nigerians watch Nigerian movies, the WORLD watches SA movies. Nigerians did multiply like rats then ran away from "wonderful" Nigeria and infested other countries. Those sales in the other countries are by Nigerians not the natives. Nollywood is not commercial outside the Nigerian/West African market.

At least you watched 2 SA movies (which means you watched one and afterwards CONSCIENCELY went and watched another-lol). I don't know of a single SA who would consciencely watch EVEN ONE Nollywood crap spew. At most those who have had the misfortune of catching it on TV watch no more than 5 minutes and never watch it again. Hence we don't know these "celebrities" you name because we don't care to know them. Face reality SA is a gazillion times better than Nigeria. Which of these stars of yours have won Oscars or walked the red carpet and were capture in international magazines, talk shows and showbiz shows

(i)first of all, nigeria isnt 60 years old,it shows what you know.
(ii)i do not dispute that it is productive for the government to invest in the people{it raises HDI},but that brings us population size, example; a country earning a gross revenue of $120billion,has a population of 200million,once budget spending is removed,do you think what remains will be enough to share among citizens?,nigeria's idea of investing in citizens is to give out funds for MSMEs,funding businesses that'll provide jobs and investments, and latter increases government revenue.
(iii)did you say SA has a "stable economic and political environment"?,your economy is stagnant,and correct me if i'm wrong,but isnt it in SA;
*that the parliament is a wrestling ring?
*that police invades the parliament to drag out an opposition member?
*that MPs scream "pay back the money" at the president?.

SA is part of the G20 because it is the strogest econmy in africa. Nigeria may be big but it is not strong. It's size is due to nigerians breeding like rabits.

Fact is SA spends way more money than Nigeria

Makes way more money

Is the largest African provider of FDI in africa

Has econmic intrists accross africa

Has far more influnce than Nigeria (with a click of a switch we can plunge SADC in to darkness. Now that is power)

There are far more bussness intrists in SA than Nigeria

We the industrail heart of africa.

All nigeria has is oil, and no oil baron nastion is part of the G20.
