This only shows the lack of empathy from Mrs president, your coming to OAU was nothing but a torment on the ever conscious mind of Ife students, you owe us an apology, for the turmoil and breach of our liberty and those numerous students that trekked the escalated long distance of the campus gate to the faculty buildings to get their exams written , a President with compassion would know his activities on campus would obstruct the exams and yes it did and students are hurt coupled with the fact that the GEJ led government is a failure.

Just I said yesterday in my post "AS GEJ STORMS OAU" OAU Students gave GEJ d treatment meted against OBJ. We're non-partisan but we support anyone with good credentials and leaders. We booed GEJ and we made sure he heard us. Inspite of the tight security, we blocked the road and made sure our letter got to him personally by hand before he left. He came to have meeting with council of obesity and shared money to them. Other politicians were there too. I sighted two sons of Obanikoro, PDP chairman (Adamy Muazu) and others. All in all, GEJ saw in people's eyes that we didn't like him.

I just want to know because the report I got says that banks and shops were closed because of the visit. Na God wan catch am or probably he thought he could deceive OAU students. There are open field in Road 7, OAUTHC and even staff quarters, why didn't he use one of them?

I can only remember only two times Obasanjo visited OAU. In around 1975, being moved by the beauty of the school, vowed to take it if the opportunity should present itself. No sooner was this statement made than the Muhammed/Obasanjo government came to power and took the University and others. The second time was in 1999. In that year was booed.

of the GREATEST IFE!!! either we like it or not OAU students will never accept mediocrity, it's not their fault, just the way we were trained as a student of OAU....I remembered the days of SABURI,Ribadu will never forget the punishment meted on him,when he was told to go turn back from the gate and he proved to be stubborn, even as strong as OBJ he did everything to desist from coming to ife,even when invited on some occasions .......the learned students knows when u re a performer or not....this is not about sentiment. ....but about the general well being of the people u re voted to serve....mind u OAU is an institution build on a socialist ideology and GEJ shows to be the direct opposite,a typical capitalist,where only the rich are profiting and exploiting even from the poor day in day out.....so it's understandable when students of a great citadel of learning refused and rejected a govt of the rich,for the rich and from the rich!
on this case I'm proud of the students of the ONLY AFRICA UNIVERSITY (OAU) on this lofty achievement!!!

Students of Obafemi ‎Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, on Friday expressed their frustration with the ‘unfavourable’ condition they were subjected to over the presence of President Goodluck Jonathan in the institution.
Jonathan is attending a conference with South-West traditional rulers and politicians at the OAU.

It was gathered that public buses were not allowed into the school premises and majority of the stud‎ents had to trek long distances to their examination hall.
In one of the instances, ‎a Post Graduate Diploma student was seen arguing with security personnel after she refused entry.
Though she explained that she had exam, the security officials refused her plea.
Students were also seen protesting at the front of Oduduwa Hall where the meeting was holding.
The placard-carrying protesters were heard shouting “thief” on all the politicians that storm the venue.
Among the inscription on their placards are, “Education is our right, give us credible leadership, all we want is standard education.”
According to the students, they suspect that the leaders are in the school to endorse the president for 2015, despite “his failure to develop the educational sector.”
They also claimed that the meeting subjected them to suffering and was ill-timed because they are writing their examinations.
Some of the students also alleged that the buses provided by their union to ease movement were disturbed by politicians.
One of them identified as Isreal, said, “This is ‎rubbish. Is the president or politics more important than our lives? How will they subject us to this kind of suffering. Buses were denied entrance and we have to start trekking.”
Another student added, “All in the name of presidential visit, all activities are put on hold. We can’t do anything. They should not have brought this kind of meeting here. They should know OAU students don’t like oppressors. ‎They have the gut to come here after increasing our school fees exorbitantly.”
When contacted, the President of the Students Union of OAU, Isaac Ibikunle, said buses have been provided to aid the movement of the students.
