"Today, i did my part, i made my stand.
Happy joining OAU students to show
President Jonathan his government
and poverty-inducing capitalist policies
are not welcomed. He expected a
rousing welcome, instead he was
confornted with a protest. Fayose got
perhaps the biggest embarrassment of
his life today. He walked confidently to
Ife students expecting to be
applauded. I can't yet forget the look
of shock on his face as shout of Ole!
Ole ! (Thief! Thief!) rented the air.
Hastily his security details whisked him
away. President Jonathan's convoy
was delayed as students sat on the
road chanting slogans. Clumsily one by
one, the royal fathers made their way
out not sure who next would be
greeted with shout of "thief!"
Those to be pitied (not sure if they
even deserve it though) were the
hundreds of PDP supporters who had
thronged the campus with different
banners to welcome Jonathan. They
looked dejected, their banners
hanging around them. How could they
start dancing as they planned with the
hundreds of students chanting
solidarity songs just beside them? At
the end, as the helicopters lifted from
the ground, i didnt see a single person
waving the President goodbye. It was
like good riddance. If my guess is
right, someone might soon be fired for
fixing OAU on the President's itinery
Despite attempts by a wing of the
union leadership to sell-out, great Ife
students have demonstrated how
oppressors and exploiters should be
treated. I would do it again anytime,
any day. Doing this isnt because we
support the APC. Years ago, i carried
placards to give Tinubu the same
welcome i joined others to give
Jonathan today in the same University
and at the same Oduduwa hall. I
would do it again today just as my
organisation, the Education Rights
Campaign (ERC), played leading roles
in the struggle to defeat the APC
attemps to deny the downtrodden
public education in LASU. PDP and APC
supports the same ruinous capitalist
philosophy that has created the
embarrassing inequality in Nigeria
despite massive oil wealth. Only the
building of an alternative political party
to fight to end capitalism and enthrone
socialism can ensure our problems
begin to have genuine solutions.
To all those with whom we made the
stand against president Jonathan
today, Solidarity!"......H.T. Soweto has spoken. Comrade like Soweto give me hope that the table will turn against these politicians and their saTANists.
This is an unequivocal dis-support for the elitist and corruption-laden govts of the APC and the PDP.
Why are some people on this forum trying to phrase it as a covert support for APC?
This is a cheap attempt by never-do-wells to paint the SUG as partisan.

It's no news- once you stepped your feet on Great Ife campus, you should understand that you are not too big to be dragged to the mud. Jonathan would not be the first and last person to be booed or stoned with sachet water.

Please let him be the last person. I want #change.

personally I don tire.
Re: OAU Students Boo Jonathan by mandai01(m): 5:32pm On Nov 28, 2014
I can't read through all the comments but OAU has always been like that, capitalizing on the failures of any leader to embarrass them. They get out of school to realize the real world is not the same as the school's micro society where they get almost everything they wanted.

He hasn't seen anything yet, despite the fact this was a talkshow to bribe and pay off the obas, the students gave him what he should expect from the south west and other parts of Nigeria peopled by people who have common sense and reason based on reality and not sentiment of religion and tribe.

Let him keep his campaign to the south South and south east, the south west have sworn to broom his ass off Aso Rock.

Small small now haba , remember is still our president and we must give him the respect he deserve.

If you don't want him to be there come nextyr I think your vote should do that not throwing pure water on the president of a country you so much want to glo.

Students of Obafemi ‎Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, on Friday expressed their frustration with the ‘unfavourable’ condition they were subjected to over the presence of President Goodluck Jonathan in the institution.
Jonathan is attending a conference with South-West traditional rulers and politicians at the OAU.

It was gathered that public buses were not allowed into the school premises and majority of the stud‎ents had to trek long distances to their examination hall.
In one of the instances, ‎a Post Graduate Diploma student was seen arguing with security personnel after she refused entry.
Though she explained that she had exam, the security officials refused her plea.
Students were also seen protesting at the front of Oduduwa Hall where the meeting was holding.
The placard-carrying protesters were heard shouting “thief” on all the politicians that storm the venue.
Among the inscription on their placards are, “Education is our right, give us credible leadership, all we want is standard education.”
According to the students, they suspect that the leaders are in the school to endorse the president for 2015, despite “his failure to develop the educational sector.”
They also claimed that the meeting subjected them to suffering and was ill-timed because they are writing their examinations.
Some of the students also alleged that the buses provided by their union to ease movement were disturbed by politicians.
One of them identified as Isreal, said, “This is ‎rubbish. Is the president or politics more important than our lives? How will they subject us to this kind of suffering. Buses were denied entrance and we have to start trekking.”
Another student added, “All in the name of presidential visit, all activities are put on hold. We can’t do anything. They should not have brought this kind of meeting here. They should know OAU students don’t like oppressors. ‎They have the gut to come here after increasing our school fees exorbitantly.”
When contacted, the President of the Students Union of OAU, Isaac Ibikunle, said buses have been provided to aid the movement of the students.

I am no politician neither do I take sides with politicians but when I look at nigerians all I see is Total ignorance , 99% of people who take sides with politicians don't act smart because they themselves have become dumb puppets , You take actions that don't favour the elite today, tomorrow you must pay for it , instead of people to face reality and be creative in order to survive , they want their president to bring Heaven on earth at once for them, so they revolt , Let it be Known that no president you elect will put food on your table , and no one will transform nigeria to america in 8 years. Look @ the Igbos , they don't kill themselves over political power , they are a very Intelligent race , They strive to survive under harsh condition with lots of government policies not favoring their businesses for years they still strive and succeed because they don't look up to the government for everything , Its better for you to be independent and creative than throwing sachet water at privileged individuals that can frustrate your life if they want , ITS A SHAME , BE SMART , AND STAND OUT

If he couldn't go, did he show any empathy? It took him two weeks to acknowledge that the girls were kidnapped; a whole CC of the armed forces. Do unto others as you would expect others do unto you. dont quote me again nigga. I know you lack empathy and you don't have feelings. I don't post to please your likes.
