I believe some beginners will find this video lesson useful in their quest to playing piano by ear (i.e ability to play whatever you hear) without sheet music.

It's the first part of The Musician Transformation Dvd by Jermaine Griggs (Founder of HearandPlay Music). This is a foundational course for all musicians whatever your skill level.

I will upload the remaining parts of the course subsequently.

Enjoy the lessons and please feel free to share, Jermaine doesn't mind *wink*

List of churches that have big opportunities for musicians

1) HOTR (House on the rock headquarters)

2) Breath of life ministry (Headquarters)

3) RCCG City of david

4) Trem headquarters

5) TPH (This present house headquarters)

6) Trinity house

Their branches might open you to opportunities too but I'm not sure..

A C2 chord and a C9 differ by what? 'cos Someone is trying to confuse me.

@ Karleb
it seems your phone doesn't support wav format. I'll try to convert it to a mp3 format.

they differ by distance.. C2 will be C D E G, while C9 will be C E G D- (D note is on the next octave).. 9,11 and 13 r numbers used in extensions so once it's a 9,we r tlking about something that is in the next octave

in addition to what dramadiddy said when you use extensions like nines, elevens etc. it is assumed that the flatted seventh is in the chord

yea but it doesn't apply to maj extensions oo... The seventh will just be as it is..

Exactly. The only exception is when the extension is MAJORED.

guys, how can a keyboard player improve his timing. by timing I mean, how do learn to keep a steady beat especially when you don't have a drummer!?

@Mimo1. I just checked out the rhythm undecided you said you are tired of and it was super cool. I am adding it to my collections right away. wink

BTW, did you get the rhythm I gave you on Sunday? As in do you understand it?

Well, you can try playing fsfd as notes on bass and ddfssf as chords on the treble and tell me how it sounds . wink

how do you guys understand the notes cos all I can see are letters. i think a better way to do this is make a small recording of the line and share it. trust me after seeing those solfas, 3 different melodic lines come to mind, and its possible what you're trying to pass across is totally different. or you could tell us the value of each of the notes.

Re: A Thread For Keyboardists by Karleb(m): 11:37pm On Dec 01, 2014
@zbone

Actually, those are solfas but don't mind me sha, I was only trying to explain to Mimo1 in a more simplier term.

But, the chord progression is a simple 4-5-4-1.

As in, you'll play 4-5-4-1 as key on the LH and 1-4-5-4 as chords on the RH and the RH chords is more like 1-1-4-5-5-4.

Here is the recording, don't mind my keyboard oo cheesy

Ur welcome.

Why don't you drop something we could all deliberate on,

Or something we could learn?
I think I learnt the keyboard the very wrong way, the truth is that I play some of this chords like dorminant chords, minor chords, sus chords, bt I neva knew dia name, bt am gradually learning some stuffz here.
Pls one question: is the TAW chord the same as the major 7th chords?
