What exactly serves as home tie? (Landed properties and stocks can always be sold off)
My entire family lives in and works in Naija including my aged parents.
Only one of my brother is away.

What course did u apply for.... An important factor is Course correlation and academic progression, I think @redribs missed that in his write up, also a proper explanation of any academic gap which including a CV would do...

Studied Mechanical/Prod Engr, applied for Robotics and industrial automation.

can someone please tell me how long it takes before schools in Canada notifies one whether he is admitted or not? Thanks

different schools different policies, bro. For your schl of choice, I advise you contact your admission officer. For Some schls, it takes 2 months after the relevant deadline. Even if you apply before the opening for application, you MUST wait till after the relevant deadline. Hope it helps.
Peace

Pls nairalanders, how long does a student visa application take for canada? I submitted online and went to vsf for processing. Its been 3 weeks plus now and the status is still "is being processed at the Canada Visa Office, Lagos. To know more, please call VAC helpline number or visit VAC website.".
Is there something i need to do again?

A job offer waiting for you after your studies abroad, is one of them.

Of course i indicated that on my app and SOP, working in my sisters company, which she also indicated in her letter of support.
Even though i didn't put a letter of employment (which i will do in my re-application).
But the truth of it is no job will be waiting for anyone for 2yrs while you are away for post graduate, less of it in a country like Naija.

Not true cos where i work, i got a study leave for 2 years. You just have to open up your mind and tackle whatever reasons given for your refusal. All the best as you refire.

i'll like bring your awareness to something about fixed deposit because i also used fixed in application of my TRV: what i did was: telling my account officer to issue me something like fixed deposit cert with bank letter head paper and stating on it that after maturity the fixed cash should be roll over for the next three months, because VO are wise: so they'll the understand the availability of the cash for my studies
standupguy:

1. I provided a treasury bill of 10m that was due to mature in a week bought through her bank and certificate issued.

2. 25m was fixed deposit also due to mature in a week as at the time of my application.

You probably didn't read details of my app sha,
I provide both account SOA and fixed deposits of both sponsor and co sponsor.
Unless you are telling me that fixed deposit are not valid.

Yes that was the only reason highlighted.

The value of the fixed deposit and treasury bills were clearly written there. Both were due to mature later on the same month of my application.
the SOAs had very good flow, just that but one had almost zero naira in it while the other had 1.5m

Yes it was the only thing ticked.
I can only assume that they needed to see huge physical cash in the SOAs, that all i can think for now.
Will re-apply with same docs, the SOAs should be much liquid now.
My headache is that May doesn't have related programs, and most schools don't have either.

You are being unnecessarily defensive for nothing, you still don't get it.

You did not answer the question.....is the 25m her business profit or her business capital? Did you include her tax certificate? How many people did she employ in her business? E.g tax certificate will give an idea how well the business is doing. Your sister can only sponsor you with her net profit and not the gross.

Having 25m in her account as a business woman does not mean that she can afford to sponsor you.

The most important thing is cash availability for you throughout the duration of your study.

Yeah of course there is always an exception, about 0.002%. Tell me you would go back to that job when better offer is presented by another company home or away.

You made it sound like people do not get 2years study back to leave that's why i corrected you.In life, you always want something better,so, if i get a better offer, why should i go back to the same company?
I think we've spent so much time on your delay and lots of contribution has gone into it,so, it's back to the drawing board. Cheers

The solution to the fear expressed quoted below is not too hard.
Those who have had their TRV may assist in posting SOP here after carefully removing their personal details. After all, they have nothing to loose
in the event of a copy and paste by a mentally lazy applicant.
Only the applicant who does a robotic reproduction has everything to loose.
I have a strong believe that with a dozen volunteers of excellent SOP as advised , this forum will be helped immeasurable.
Best wishes to all.
"EIDT: Someone noted below that this can give room to plagiarism. Using the example I cited of my SOP to gain admission, I believe no serious person can plagiarize because even if you want to copy the style and format, you would still need to put in your own words.[/quote]"

sorry, but banks are not legally bound to disclose financial information different from balances shown on S.O.A's already submitted to embassies. they can be sued for that in the law courts.

Well, like I said, I'm not sure how valid the information is, it was just something I heard and it sounded plausible. I agree it seems like some sort of violation but there's got to be a way they run checks on authenticity and sustainability of the accounts they are assessing. But hey, I'm just saying, I dunno anything for sure

VO say I neva satisfy am I'd leave Canada at d end of my studies... The reasons are thus;

*Travel History

*Lenght of proposed stay in canada

*Purpose of visit (I wan go farm whale from mosquito mouth for one village in vancouver)

*Your current employment situation

*Your personal assets and financial status

These were dia reasons for refusal... Only me all dis many tins.. I got confused about this SOP of a thing cos I dnt think I wrote a separate letter. I only joined this forum afta I submitted my docs (which I gravely regret). There was a form like a questionnaire that was what I thought was the SOP and I filled it well... Stating reason I wanna go for my course in Canada and how I'd come back and input all av learnt in Canada to Nigeria and I mentioned global warming this that that Nigerian tertiary institutions don't have what it takes to broaden our scope as regards that. It was when I joined this forum I realized one has to draft an SOP and SOP is different from the questionnaire. I am a very careful and efficient guy... I know I studied that checklist for 2weeks before I applied and provided all docs. But I guess the checklist isn't sh*t.

These are d docs I submitted.

*sponsors proof of financial commitment to me (sponsor is a blood bro who earns well in an oil firm in the USA. He's a citizen too)

*SOA of $29'000 from sponsor (closing balance for last 6months afta all expenses)

*sponsors US passport data page

*sponsors work ID

*sponsors tax receipts from 2013 and 2014

*acceptance letter and estimated study expense list from Niagara College. Fee expense for a year is $23k (accommodation tuition and all) tuition is 14k. Paid 7k afta I submitted so ddnt include d receipt.

*all docs (application forms, nysc cert, transcripts, WAEC result, uni result, uni certificate, police report,)

*my final year dissertation (summary) on pollution from agro based insecticides, how it affects man and the environment. From consumption and etc

*I studied Marine science. Going for environmental management and Assessment. I work in a real. Estate firm.

I ddnt include land docs (which my late dad has I ddnt see it important to add my mistake)

I ddnt include employment letter and study leave. I filled in d cic form that I work tho.

I have been to Ghana and 2 oda African countries. Passport no de carry dose si I guess de ddnt believe but I filled all dat in d form

House pls added inputs in refiring would help. Thanks

Bro no defense here, trying to ascertain my loophole simple
Just wonder who is that person liking your post without putting his/her own input.
There was no tax certificate, have no idea where to get that, i also had a co-sponsor, care to through light on that too?

@standupguy I get u bro. Pele.

I know I may have sounded confident in that post but I was only giving educated guesses. Justwise gave u a very valid perspective which I agree with. One thing I know is that there is no amount of money that expenses can't take away. It's easy to close a SOA on 50M, but keeping it floating around that figure for an extended period is another thing. That's just d point I was trying to draw out.

Yeah, that's another idea, but I'm not sure it can prove financial sustainability. There are jobs in Canada but but none is actually guaranteed if there's no job offer to show for it.

@kaynine59,
Travel History
*Lenght of proposed stay in canada
*Purpose of visit
*Your current employment situation
*Your personal assets and financial status

My 2kobo contribution; you have been working in real estate all these years and studied something else in school.Your SOP must provide a link and connect the dots, i.e what program you want to go for. Also, are you going for diploma, UG or PG and what is your present highest level of study? Your offer letter and study leave will take care of current employment situation though i wonder how you will link your real estate firm to your intended course assuming they give you the study leave.
personal assets and financial status;if you have been working, you should have sthg to show for it, property, savings,SOA,etc.Include your dad's land also.Travel history not a biggy if you sort out the other reasons. All the best.
