vanbonattel: You lot need to do away with ya greed, and let peace reign in Lagos. You know the Yorubas will NEVER allow you rule them in their own state, via an election. I believe you read about what happened to ZIk in your history books. So, why not let them be, and take whatever "talents" you have to your own region, and develop the place? Let peace reign in Lagos, and don't turn the place to another Boko Haram-esque axis. Cheers. I'm out. 4 Likes |

"the garb of primitive tribal enclave as espoused by some you guys" 99.999% of folks with basic English reading and writing comprehension would not in any way think that the above statement refers to any person or persons, instead it referred to cities. There are many primitive tribal enclaves or communities all over the World, in the east, there're communities that are 99% Igbos, same in the west where you have communities where everyone is Yoruba, and in the north I have seen many of them too. But for a community to shade that garb, it has to have residents of all tribes, religions, and classes living and working together in peace. Think about New York, London, etc. Leadership of these cities are not based solely on ethnic or tribal sentiments, and Lagos is getting there. 2 Likes |

Well, stop grasping at straws, whilst digging yourself deeper into a hole - you have no mental capability to get out of. You are the typical Nigerian lout, Prof. Wole Soyinka described aptly, when he said, "a mistake in London is fashion in Nigeria." Cities don't function on their own. People make up cities. And in this context, you were referring to those from Lagos and other Yorubas. Well, my dad is from Lagos, and I'm also Yoruba. Evidently, you were throwing stones at me as well. Hence my retort. If you don't have a proper grasp of the English language, you better start learning now. 3 Likes 1 Share |

PROUDIGBO:The situations are different. Alhaji Altine was selected by the British not elected by the locals. Enugu became a municipality in 1956 with Umaru Altine its first mayor.[26] After four years passed, Nigeria gained its independence in 1960. On 27 May 1967 the Nigerian government divided the Western, Northern and Eastern Region into 12 states[30] and Enugu was made the capital of the new East Central State.[1] On 30 May 1967 Enugu was declared the capital of the short-lived http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enugu 1 Like |

ayindejimmy: ---------------------------- No, you are wrong. Umaru Altine, aka Baba Ngiri, was elected on the platform of NCNC. In fact, an Igbo lost to him in the NCNC primaries. He was a very popular man because of his philanthropy. He was into cattle and transport and at times he would use his buses would carry people free of charge. Hence it was easy for him to win the election. So, the British did not select him. In fact, by 1956 the British had stopped selecting people for positions in Southern Nigeria. |

Whomever that put this piece of article on the joke section is an idiiot. What's funny about the APGA candidate's political ambition to govern Lagos state? Is Fashola's or Tinubu's state of origin Lagos? The moderator responsible for this gross ineptitude should stand down. 1 Like |

Re: Picture Of An Igbo Man Contesting For Governor Of Lagos Under APGA by Sibabasibaba1: 9:07pm On Dec 07, 2014 |
ayindejimmy: -------- I don't need a link for that. Just as I don't need a link to tell you that Kangiwa was once a governor in Sokoto. You are the one who should come up with link to prove your argument that he was selected. If you did Government in Secondary School you would know of the 1954 Lytletton Constitution in Nigeria and its provisions. Do further research on your own. In fact, do a google search on Alhaji Umaru Altine. |
