Nnaa flyover and Stadium is nothing but showmanship. Abia is more industrialised than your mentions.

Abia has the finest University in the East inherited from old Imo just like we inherited the airport.

Orji Commissions N10b Aba Malting Plant
Abia State Governor, Theodore Orji, has commissioned the N10
billion Aba Malting Plant, which is located in Obingwa Local
Government Area of the state.
Orji, who performed the ceremony at the company's complex
over the weekend, commended its management for the
massive investment.
He said the company's decision to site the ultra-modern plant
in Aba has further underscored the investment potential of the
state, assuring that the government would provide the enabling
environment to encourage the setting up of more industries in
the state.
He also pledged to ensure the security of lives and property
and charged the state's Commissioner for Police to carry out
this mandate efficiently.
Orji, who led top members of his cabinet to the occasion, later
unveiled the commemorative plaque and went on a facility
tour of the plant, accompanied by senior management of the
company.
In his address, Mr. Michiel Herkemij, managing director/chief
executive, Aba Malting Plant, described the investment as a
manifestation of the company's unalloyed support for the
growth and development of Abia State.
He recalled that Aba Malting Plant, formerly known as Universal
Malting Plant, was incorporated on October 8, 2004, by a group
of investors to produce and supply high quality malted
sorghum for the food and beverage industry.
Noting that the strategic initiative was conceived to create
employment opportunities for Nigerians through technical
support to farmers and other entrepreneurs, as well as
empower them to produce the vital raw material locally, he
said the Aba Malting Plant acquired the Universal Malting Plant
on March 1, 2008.
"As at December, 2008, Aba Malting Plant had invested about
N10 billion in this project to ensure its sustenance," adding,
"Aba Malting Plant is an ultra-modern highly automated
sorghum malting plant with the latest technology for the
sorghum malting process. The plant is the biggest of its kind in
the whole of Africa."

According to Herkemij, the plant would assist in ensuring high
quality malted sorghum for the production of beverages of the
highest quality for consumers.
"The plant will also become a centre of excellence for sorghum
malting knowledge and skills.
"Our goal is to assume the role of an African regional
knowledge centre for sorghum research. In addition, it will
create sustainable employment through direct engagement in
sorghum farming and other activities related to sorghum
supply chain management," he said.
"All these massive investments," he said, "have made the
company one of the highest investors in the state."
Besides, he appealed to stakeholders to support the
government's vision for quick industrial growth and investment
promotion in the state by creating the enabling environment
for businesses to thrive.
Dignitaries from all walks of life-including traditional rulers in
the locality, top officials of government parastatals and
agencies, graced the occasion, while Chief Kola Jamodu, the
Chairman of Aba Malting Plant, led the company's
management team to the ceremony.

Nigerian Breweries Earmarks
N17billion For Expansion of Its Aba Plant

The Nigerian Breweries Plc has earmaked N17billion for the
expansion and modernisation of Aba Brewing plant. The
project, which started about six months ago, would be
completed in the first quarter of next year.
Aba Brewery Manager, Mr. Ukeje Udah, disclosed these when
Governor Theodore Orji of Abia State visited the company.
He said it was the first major expansion work to be done in
the factory since its establishment in 1955 and the second to
be built by NB Plc in the country.
“This factory has made great progress. It started with
500,000 HL and today it is producing 1.2 million HL and it is
estimated that by the time the present expansion is
completed in the first quarter of next year, the production
capacity would more than double.”
Ukeje also said that with the completion of the project,
which involved among others, the building of a new brew
hall that would be installed with state of the art machines
and fitted with modern facilities, the economic benefit to all
stakeholders including the Abia State government would be
unprecedented.

Guinness begins operation in Aba, launches
Dubic beer

By Anayo Okoli, Umuahia
Guinness Nigeria Plc, has resumed full operation in Aba, Abia
state with the launch of its latest product, Dubic Lager beer.
Speaking at the launch of Dubic Lager beer at the Government
House, Umuahia, before moving to Aba, the chairman of the
company, Mr. Babatunde Savage explained that Abia State was
chosen for the launch because Dubic beer began from there
before Guinness bought over the company.
According to him, the people of Aba and the state in general
were in love with the beer hence the decision to bring back to
them in a better quality.
Savage said that Guinness decided to kit Enyimba because it is
synonymous with Aba just like Dubic beer which he said has
come back better to give the Aba people more satisfaction. He
said that the beer has been a household name in the state and
expressed the hope that the people will patronize and enjoy
more of it.
He said that Enyimba has been doing well in continental outings
and saying that Guinness was proud to be associated with the
club.
“Dubic Lager beer is a product produced with raw materials
from this land. It is a Nigerian beer brewed to international
standard. The package is unique. The liquid is great, it is a good
product. Dubic beer has come back to stay”, Savage noted.
“Dubic Extra Lager is a brand that connects with the heritage of
our numerous consumers. We found this legacy of heritage in
Enyimba Football Club. Enyimba was the first and still remains
the only Nigerian football club that has won the CAF champions
league twice”, Mr. Sola Oke, Head of innovation said.
Also, the company has promised to provide employment
opportunities to the host community including construction of
roads and provision of pipe borne water. In his speech, Governor
Theodore Orji who was represented by secretary to the
government, Prof. Mkpa Agu Mkpa commended Guinness for
returning back to Abia and for launching Dubic lager beer.
The governor assured the company that Abia was very secured
and conducive for doing business and urged Guinness to spread
the news to the world.
Orji promised that his government would assist the company in
any way to ensure that they enjoy doing business in the state
and thanked them for the decision to sponsor Enyimba.

Fidelity Finances Africa’s Largest
Aluminium Can Factory In Aba, Abia
State

FIDELITY Bank Plc has said that it is financing the multi-
million naira aluminium can project in Aba, South East
Nigeria. The factory which will be ready in a couple of
months’ time will take off with an initial production capacity
of 1.2 billion cans per annum.
This clearly surpasses the Agbara Can Manufacturing Factory
that took off with an initial production capacity of 600
million cans per year, thus making the new plant the largest
aluminum can factory in Africa.
Managing Director and Chief Executive, Fidelity Bank Plc,
Mr.Reginald Ihejiahi who made the disclosure to journalists,
at the weekend in Lagos, explained that the financing options
adopted by the bank were largely driven by its commitment
and faith in the development of the Nigerian economy.
According to him,“We are a bank operating in an emerging
market and we believe that the industrial sector remains the
heart of banking in such markets.”
Ihejiahi, whose bank also financed a similar project in
Agbara, Ogun State, further explained that as an institution
in business purely for commercial reasons, the bank is
mandated to report to its shareholders. This,he said, implies
that the bank should have steady streams of income at the
end of the year, and therefore, should carefully select the
projects it would sponsor at any given time, as part of its
commitment to the development of the economy. Said
he,“When we opened the Agbara Can manufacturing factory
which was commissioned by President Goodluck Jonathan in
2010, it started with 600million cans per annum. However,
the Aba Can manufacturing company which is nearing
completion will take off from the first day with 1.2billion
production capacity and we believe that with this pace
Nigeria will soon be self-sufficient in aluminum can
production.”
Ihejiahi explained that the facility offers enormous
opportunity for job creation and other economic benefits to
the citizens of the country. The Aba Can factory is expected
to service the breweries and beverage companies in the
South East and South South parts of the country, and by
extension other parts of Nigeria. “We are also not ruling out
export opportunities to West African and other African
countries because of the size of the factory,he further stated.
Meanwhile South African Breweries has just opened a
brewery in Onitsha and the market is quite large. They are
expected to be a major beneficiary of the aluminum can
project.

cheesy cheesy

Dirty old pauper keep deceiving yourself. cheesy

Okorosha is the greatest scam since the origin of Igboland..a crook who has borrowed over 200billion with nothing on the ground to show for it. Imo state has sunk to an unbearable condition. Orji is by far better than Okorosha because the former hasn't borrowed at least put something on the ground no matter small while the later borrowed over 200billion and wasted it with his northern cousins while Imo state rots away.

If we do a general assessment of overall roads in both Imo and Abia states, I must confess to you that Abia has better road network than Imo state. Owerre side of PH road is a deathtrap and about the worst road in the East.

Orji tried at least he did not borrow a dime, what about Okorosha that borrowed over 200billion with nothing on the ground to show for it? Abeg cut Orji some slack.

Jonathan neglected Aba and much of Southeast and Southsouth. The reason why Dukes investments in Calabar failed os because all roads leading to Calabar are in a mess. It is same with Uyo and Aba. If the FG do their part, then the efforts of the State will be appreciated.

I never claimed Abia has good roads but I claim

Aba is the most industrialised city in Nigeria after Lagos.

Abiriba is the finest village in Igboland

Umuahia comes 3rd amongst State capitals right behind Enugu and Owerri.

Aba is the largest town in the East right after Port Harcourt.

Abia State University is the most beautiful in the East.

Aba has some of the worst roads in the country and these include mostly federal roads and State road.

Aba is the only city with completed power plant solely to serve the city.

Theodore Orji is a disappointment and deliberately neglected Aba because he was pelted with "pure water".

Like someone else said, for development pics, cities like Uyo, Enugu, Lagos, Abuja, PH, even Benin etc, are far more impressive than this ....garbage. Until the semi-literate, ignorant dunces who run places like Abia State understand that you do not build a road without sidewalks, or with open drains, and no road markings, signs etc etc, I think they should simply be ignored when it comes to these development threads. And whoever came up with that ''God's own state'' nonsense should be flogged for his shocking lack of imagination and nake.d mimicking.

The characteristics of these people is that they look for fault selectively. I believe criticism should be all inclusive and not targetted at particular group or interest. When they come to Imo thread, they condemn the booming of tourism and hospitality or building of schools or free education or turn blind eye to the fact that Owerri has the most maintained greenery and wide well kept median or almost the entire Owerri city has streetlights etc.

Now I presented them with facts they did not know about industries in Aba and they are looking for ways to downplay the truth. Aba is not beautiful but it has over 40thousand cottage shoe factories. Aba has higher per capita income than even Lagos and is only 2nd to Port Harcourt. These are simple truths. That Aba has some if the worst roads is also true. That Theodore Orji treated Aba wrongky is also true.

It should be noted that abia needs redemption despite the fact that we are going to be surcasing the good side on this thread, prior to this i suggest that we also use this symposium to discuss the political challenges of our state. We should note our problems and suggest capable hands who can devise the panacea to these problems. Abia will liberated this time.

You should be ashamed of yourself also for not considering roads and streetlights as development. My brother we have 2 stadia in Aba and Umuahia already. We have many housing estates in Aba nd Umuahia ranging from the 2 worldbank housing estates, agbama housing estate, Ehimiri, garden, IBB, Adedebu, etc and many others under construction. Just relax I'll cover all of them for you to see.

This one is under construction.
