What if her dear husband is a spendthrift-chronic-womanizing-drukard? Would you still suggest she puts any savings she has / her children's futures in the palms of such a man?

It is NOT the same.

If the man was responsible and financially savvy to start with, the woman won't have to resort to making her sibling / brother next of kin while her husband is still alive.

By so doing, she's sending out a very clear message which is: I don't trust you to look after our kids in the event of my demise.

Now I wonder why she would feel that way? Lemme guess: a nagging suspicion that this man would definitely marry someone else and have kids with her (not a bad thing as life goes on) BUT not only that, he'll use her money to raise his this other woman's kids, and probably spend her money on his second wife too.

Ideally it should be one's spouse but things are happening that now gives excuse for not doing so. Just like the example l cited in the thread where men were asked if they could live in a house built by their wives, the woman inherited a twin duplex from her late father's estate, (they still live in a rented 3 bedroom because of hubby's ego) she put the name of her children on the property sidelining the husband n retaliation for his insisting on his younger brother being Next of Kin even after 9 years of marriage.

The woman felt her husband did not trust her then why should she trust putting his name on the property. Though this issue is straining their marriage, the woman no send as she can't afford to have husband family feel it is also part of their brother's property!
