For all the fathers to be, if you are opportuned to be in the labour room with your wife, these are the things you should say; Comfort in labor comes in many forms. A very easy way for nearly anyone to help comfort a laboring woman is to talk to her. These kind words really help and work wither she is having an unmedicated birth or a birth with an epidural . 1. Hang in there! A note of support without a lot of pressure. 2. You're doing a great job. She may not believe you even if it's true. Her experience of what is going on feels much differently than what you're seeing. Meaning she may feel out of control while she looks calm and collected. 3. I love you! Need I say more? 4. Think of the baby... For a mother who wants to be reminded of the baby in labor , which is easier than you think to forget about, this can be helpful. You might also use a similar phrase agreed upon in labor. 5. You're going to be a great mother . Sometimes laboring women have fears, including what kind of a mother they will be. If she's concerned about it, be sure to ask ahead of time to find out what her fear is and use an affirmation like this to help ease that. 6. Awesome! A nice quick word to whisper in her ear when she's got very low concentration levels. 7. Keep going... A nod of approval during a long labor, as in "I know you're tired, but you're doing great, so keep going..." 8. I'm here for you. You're not leaving h[er side, be sure she knows that. 9. Just a bit more... Use this one only if you're reasonably sure that it's true. Otherwise, you lose your credibility. Ask a nearby professional for some help here and know they are guessing too. 10. You are doing it! Source : www.pregnancy.about.com/od/laborbasics/a/wordsinlabor.htm 1 Like |

Greetings None of the above of the ( 10 sayings ) relieved my eminently agonizing contractions during my first parturition ( child-birth ). What did succour in my state was the placidness and a robust hand to cling to throughout every tensing contraction. However, the above sayings would characterize in singular experiences since every deliverance differ. Regards, Cherlene. 1 Like |

I actually do feel a bit sorry for the caring husbands because they are helpless since there is very little they can do make a difference but being there alone with loving presence does help methinks . In any case, be prepared to get some uncharacteristic response from your spouse in the heat of intense contractions I hear some women haul abuses on their spouse(I dont know where they get the energy or mind in the middle of that mind boggling experience sha) and all good husbands should bear and loving 'share' the birthing experience. It will certainly make you appreciate your wife and respect your mother. Be sure to tell her you appreciate and respect her special strenght, after all you cant do it abi? 1 Like |
