Am sorry if you din't do chemistry because you won't understand this post clearly,
Let me just explain a little
Isomerism exist in many chemical compounds, likewise in glucose, the is a form of optical Isomerism that occurs in some organic compounds e.g like sugar Dextro-rotation and levo-rotation
, what this picture actually represent is that glucose is actually the Devo-rotation type that we commonly buy but it has another optical rotation of Levo-rotation, the Levo-rotation known as L-glucose is actually 50% expensive than gold, it can be used for the treatment of diabetics

Do you know of stereo specificity? Enzymes mostly do not act on isomers so how would it be utilized?

in the study of enzymes of lock and key hypothesis which describes the specific substrate on which enzymes binds to, the is also some another hypothesis known as the induced hypothesis however explains in the presence of another substrate the enzymes assumes a configuration in other to fit a new form of key to it substrate and assume a new shape entirely

Are you a biochemist? here's what i found:
L-Glucose does not occur naturally in higher
living organisms, but can be synthesized in the
laboratory. L-Glucose is indistinguishable in
taste from D-glucose, but cannot be used
by living organisms as source of energy
because it cannot be phosphorylated by
hexokinase, the first enzyme in the glycolysis
pathway. One of the known exceptions is in
Burkholderia caryophylli, a plant pathogenic
bacterium, which contains the enzyme D-
threo-aldose dehydrogenase which is capable
of oxidizing L-glucose Uses
L-Glucose was once proposed as a low-calorie
sweetener and it is suitable for patients with
diabetes mellitus, but it was never marketed
due to excessive manufacturing costs.
The acetate derivative of L-glucose, L-glucose
pentaacetate , was found to stimulate insulin
release, and might therefore be of therapeutic
value for type 2 diabetes .

I did biochemistry courses while in school, bt I studied biotechnology, that wat I said b4 nw dt L-glucose n D-glucose are optical isomers of each other, L-glucose is 50% mre costly than gold because of it importance for diabetics treatment, and is not naturally synthesised neither is it common to find
