Nigeria, South Africa and even Kenya, arguing about who has worse Hiv/Aids than the other is like 3 sick kids with brain desease arguing who is more crazy. Jst find other points to argue abt, not aids. Anyway, nigeria is the economic powerhouse of west africa, kenya is the powerhouse of east africa, southafrica the power house of southern africa. Yet in all regions the powerhous countries are among if not the ones with highest percentage of people with Hiv/Aids. Its a shame we should all take resposibility

What the hell is a powerhouse bra? And what is the basis for your "powerhouse" story. Your powerhouse story is even worse than the argument in aids. How can a country be a "powerhouse" if it doesn't have power within its own borders? Let alone outside? Please tell me that.

How is the "power" that you talk about exercised for you to sing the "powerhouse" song?

And Kenya contributes "only" 5% of total aids deaths.

Your post is weak, bra. The REALITY is that NO ONE can do worse on AIDS than the country whose people are DYING the most from aids.

That country is Nigeria. All the deaths from AIDS in any other country, including SA are less than those in Nigeria.

Death from AIDS is the worst thing that could ever happen and death from AIDS has found a home in Nigeria.

Weapons-maker uses South African plant to sidestep German restrictions

GERMAN government restrictions on arms exports are squeezing the country’s defence industry. But weapons-maker Rheinmetall is sidestepping the government by investing in a new munitions development centre in South Africa.

Germany’s biggest defence company by revenue last month confirmed reports it planned to establish through its South African joint venture, Rheinmetall-Denel Munition, a facility near Cape Town to develop grenades, mortars, artillery shells and rockets.

Plans for the new South African plant come during an arms-export policy review by Germany’s economics ministry that has held up licences for companies that sell weaponry to countries outside NATO that have dubious human-rights records.

Economic Affairs Minister Sigmar Gabriel “has made clear that the export of arms is not a means of economic policy but of security policy”, said ministry spokesman Adrian Toschev.

In the first half of 2014, German arms exports dropped 24 per cent to €2.2 billion ($3.3bn) year-on-year, according to the ministry.

From 2009 through 2013, Germany was the world’s third-largest exporter of major weapons, behind the US and Russia, according to research by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute.

Policy experts and financial analysts say the new South African munitions centre — along with the company’s four existing South African plants — would allow Rheinmetall to continue selling weapons to controversial governments in the Middle East, despite stricter German arms export controls.

Rheinmetall’s alliance with the long-established Denel allows the company to sidestep German intellectual property law that usually limits German defence companies with overseas production facilities.

As long as new intellectual property rights for munitions technology that had not been generated within Germany sat outside of Germany, the subsequent products were not subject to German controls, said Henrik Heidenkamp, a senior research fellow at the Royal United Services Institute in London.

Rheinmetall-Denel, established in 2008, mainly produces arms for countries in the Middle East, Asia, South America and Africa.

The South African unit’s chief executive, Norbert Schulze, was quoted in August by a South African defence news website as saying South Africa would be a more conducive location for building a munitions centre than Germany because of the current difficulty in obtaining German export licences.

A spokesman for Rheinmetall said Mr Schulze’s “statements were not authorised, nor do they reflect company policy”, but did not deny them.

Dude, South Africa is NOT among the world's top 10 tourism destinations, and for Africa, Ethiopia and Morocco beat South Africa.

Same way you claim SA has top ranked universities, yet your citizens are second dullest brains in the world.

Ethiopia appears many times on different top 10 lists and South Africa remains missing. You guys have been counting/recording Zimbabwean immigrants as foreign tourists.

Touristworthy in whose eyes because the numbers say otherwise?

And who holds more world heritage sites and official modern day 7 wonders?

Let alone other tourist attractions, some man made others natural. You can't deny SA's place as a top tourist attraction, no matter how hard you try. It's just the way it is.

You think if those places were so much better, the world wouldn't go there and leave SA alone?

The world ACTUALLY and FACTUALLY goes to SA.

Touristworthy as measured by the NUMBER of how many tourists going to those countries vs the number of tourists going to South Africa?

Tourism is hardly about one or two landmarks in a country.

Tourism is about the landmarks and also...

...Tourism is about the roads tourists will drive in.

The hotels they will stay in.

The facilities they can use.

The networks and support they can access.

The ability to access information.

The conveniences.

Good air travel.

It's about the ease with which they can see the things that they want to see.

Being touristworthy is about packaging attraction points in a convenient way for tourist.

If these countries (and Nigeria) were more touristworthy than South Africa, tourist would be going there, but they aren't.

Only a few people want to ride a camel to go see the scrolls of Timbuktu, my boet.

And yes, South Africa has answers to EVERYTHING you've listed. It's a word in one country, which is why people there. And what you've listed are niche areas of interests. And already that means you've cut off a huge section of the tourist community. You need a place that offers more things for most people. That place is South Africa; and the proof is in the awards and numbers.

Don't talk, just show us the tourist numbers and AWARDS, bra.

How many tourists register with world tourism organization to record their trips?

The largest tourists numbers in this world are the Americans, and they hardly ever go to Africa, they go to Mexico and Carribean Islands.

Forget South African and Kenya, they are behind Ethiopia, just that some countries are quiet and don't post much internet photos and statistics.

South Africa is overrated in every so called achievement and seem to deceive the outside world with photos and false data.

Zimbabwean immigrants are counted as tourists in South Africa.

If you think only a few people register with the world tourism organisation, then you have no way of knowing who goes where. And if South Africa attracts the world, who cares what one country does.

And I'll take "overrated" anyday if it comes in the form of real awards and recognition. Anyday, my homie.

And Kenya BURNS Nigeria at the stake of tourism.

Don't put words in my mouth.

Tourism can never be about a mountain alone; or a burial sight alone. If it were, then you would've been able to show me the numbers and awards.

Tourism is about an ENTIRE VALUE CHAIN, which South Africa has and Nigeria does not have, which is why South Africa has these awards:

1. South Africa was especially praised for their safari offering, with the country as a whole winning the prize for the the World's Leading Safari Destination!

2. Legend Golf & Safari Resort won World's Leading Safari Resort

3. Shamwari Game Reserve's Eagles Crag Lodge won World's Leading Eco-Lodge.

4. Shambala Private Reserve won for being the World's Leading Private Game Reserve

5. Thanda Private Game Reserve was awarded the World's Leading Luxury Lodge.

6. Johannesburg's Saxon Hotel, Villas and Spa won as the World's Leading Boutique Hotel for the 15th consecutive year,

7. The Saxon's website, too, won the award for being the World’s Leading Hotel Website.

VALUE CHAIN, my friend. Nigeria does not have the value chain. No one want's to drive through potholes to get to some burial site or whatever. South Africa not only has the adventure and mystery and beauty and nature, it also get you there conveniently; and gives you information and support. South Africa has answers to everything that you've listed and has more.

You're starting to sound like a joke.

So, the tourists leave their countries and spend time and money to come to South Africa out of pity? LOL.

You can't deny it my friend, the proof of a country's attraction to tourists is in actual visits and awards - not some story about the Queen of Sheba lol.

The ACTUAL and FACTUAL numbers and awards point towards South Africa and not Nigeria, my broer. No matter how you slice and dice it, South Africa comes up TOPS.

And the reason for that is simple, Nigeria cannot offer a complete tourist package to make it attractive to the world. It is therefor unattractive and not deserving of awards and actual tourists.

///

South Africa is home to eight of the world's official heritage sites, as determined by Unesco's World Heritage Committee. The country has a total of 4 cultural, 3 natural and one mixed (cultural and natural) heritage sites.

This is is not surprising given the spectacular and diverse culture, nature and wildlife that South Africa offers its tourists.

iSimangaliso Wetland Park - (KwaZulu-Natal)
The iSimangaliso Wetland Park (formerley the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park) has both one of the largest estuary systems in Africa and the continent's southernmost coral reefs. The park has been noted for its exceptional biodiversity, including some 521 bird species.

Robben Island - (Western Cape)
Robben Island is most famous as the place where Nelson Mandela, the first democratically elected president of South Africa, was imprisoned for 18 of his 27 years in jail. The island has since become a symbol of the triumph of democracy and freedom over oppression.

Cradle of Humankind - (Gauteng)
The Cradle of Humankind covering the region of Sterkfontein, Swartkrans, Kromdraai and environs has one of the world's richest concentrations of hominid fossils, evidence of human evolution over the last 3.5-million years.

uKhahlamba Drakensberg Park - (KwaZulu-Natal)
The Park has outstanding natural beauty, Africa's highest mountain range south of Kilimanjaro, and the largest and most concentrated series of rock art paintings in Africa - making it a World Heritage site of both natural and cultural significance.

Mapungubwe National Park - (Limpopo)
Mapungubwe - "place of the stone of wisdom" - was South Africa's first kingdom, and developed into the subcontinent's largest realm, lasting for 400 years before it was abandoned in the 14th century. Its highly sophisticated people traded gold and ivory with China, India and Egypt.

Cape Floral Region - (Western Cape)
The Cape Floral Region takes up only 0.04% of the world's land area, yet contains an astonishing 3% percent of its plant species. This makes it one of the richest areas for plants in the world and one of the globe's 18 biodiversity hot spots.

Vredefort Dome
- (Free State)
Some 2-billion years ago a meteorite 10 kilometres in diameter hit the earth about 100km southwest of Johannesburg, creating an enormous impact crater. This area, near the town of Vredefort in the Free State, is known as the Vredefort Dome.

Richtersveld Cultural and Botanical Landscape
- (Northern Cape)
The Richtersveld Cultural and Botanical Landscape covers 160 000 hectares of dramatic mountainous desert in the north-west part of South Africa. A unique feature of the site is that it is owned and managed by a community that until recently had very little to call its own.

And South Africa saw 14 860 216 foreign visitors last year. The main source of oversees tourists the UK contributed 442 523 . The US? 417 582 - not too far from the top contributor.

Nigeria cannot track tourists cause it's not worth it and the country can't keep stats.

I have showed you BETTER. American arrivals in South Africa. LOL.

I have also showed you awards.

I have showed you world heritage sites.

I have showed you that Nigeria has nothing.

But seeing as you asked:

"The UNWTO Statistics and Tourism Satellite Account Programme is committed to developing tourism measurement for furthering knowledge of the sector, monitoring progress, evaluating impact, promoting results-focused management, and highlighting strategic issues for policy objectives.

The programme works towards advancing the methodological frameworks for measuring tourism and expanding its analytical potential, designs practical guidance for their implementation in countries, supports statistical strengthening in countries through capacity building, and compiles and disseminates tourism statistics of countries all over the world.

You're starting to sound like a joke. So, the tourists leave their countries and spend time and money to come to South Africa out of pity? LOL.You can't deny it my friend, the proof of a country's attraction to tourists is in actual visits and awards- not some story about the Queen of Sheba lol.The ACTUAL and FACTUAL numbers and awards point towards South Africa and not Nigeria, my broer. No matter how you slice and dice it, South Africa comes up TOPS.And the reason for that is simple, Nigeria cannot offer a complete tourist package to make it attractive to the world.
LOL.your tales about how SA was praised for its safari offering does not denote adventure, mystery or mystic.you dont even have the capacity to secure the lives of tourists that patronize your violent country.even your parks and reserves stink of violence, thievery and corruption.why,i seem to that remember krugers park is the poaching headquaters of the world.SA has an influx of tourist 'cos of the culture.

People give praise to what is praise worthy.

If it's not praiseworthy, then it won't gain any praise.

In tourism, the ultimate form of Praise are:

1. Awards and

2. Actual visits.

Show me the awards and visits attributed to the places you talk about. Show me who has more. Show me.

YOU CANT.

SA has awards and visits for daaaays. Actual and real ones that you can touch and count.

Nigeria has ZERO.

You cannit deny what is undeniable. And what is undeniable is that the world has VOLUNTARILY CHOSEN to go to SA and to spend money there. Not only that, the world has chosen to say SA is the BEST.

About 20 million American tourists visit Mexico and Carribean yearly as tourists not just travellers.

Your ~ 400,000 figure includes all American travellers from business to official to religious to research to educational, so what's your boasting about?

Can you show me a South African government immigration office publication on how many real tourists from America visit South Africa.

All your sources are unreliable.

Travel Arrival is NOT = tourists on recreational visit.

Those figures include business, official, research, educational, religious, etc visitors all lumped together as arrival at airport in South Africa.

Same way the Nigerians from TB Joshuas Synagogue church coming for religious crusade will be wrongly counted as tourists by a fool like you just because they landed arrived at a South African airport grin grin

No source has all 53 African governemnts official data of tourism compiled into one source to prove who leads Africa.

Seychelles and Reunion are top class in Africa for tourists, yet they don't make noise and fake up numbers like South Africa
