How Do You Decide A Stanza Pattern?
Re: Poetry Classes For Beginners - NPC (Signup Thread) by donifez(m): 9:31pm On Dec 30, 2014
Bhenehdikt:
#Question
Is it possible to mix them together while writing e.g using a couplet and a triplet at the same time?

You can use different stanzas when writing a poem, As i said earlier 'Different rooms make up a house'.

Some styles like the sonnet or the sestina (not sexytina cheesy ) have a specified stanza pattern that must always be followed.

But if you're writing in free verse or a style without a specified pattern, you're left to decide. It's always so interesting having to decide your pattern.

To make it easy, you could apply the paragraph logic to your stanzas too. ie, lines about the same thing in same stanza. And when the topic changes slightly, you change stanzas too. But With this, it could be hard to maintain a uniform stanza pattern.

You could try many stanza patterns and check which one looks most organise d and beautiful to you.

Tip: You cam always use the couplet to finish your poem. Try it. It's beautiful. The end rhyme gives your last stsanza some kind of desired stress for a conncluding part.

yeah it must be 14. It doesn't have to come in 1 stanza. Infact, it is mostly written in 6-6-2. The last 2 is a couplet
