Me thinks what you have here is a very nice and thoughtful thread.

So many persons start up relationships for very wrong reasons which culminate in them having very sad experiences because in their haste to keep up with their peers, they forget to ask what I regard to be basic questions about the individual they want to have a relationship with.

For me, every romantic relationship should as a matter of necessity have marriage in view. To this effect, it is important that the dating process, which I believe should precede any commitment to a relationship, should be an integral part of getting to know the basic information about an individual.

In order not to make this too long, I will go right ahead to list out some important information, I believe, you need ask your prospective bf or gf, considering the peculiarities of the country we live in and culture of Nigerians.

1) The state the person is from, down to the LGA and village.
2) The persons family.
3) The genotype of the individual.
4) The person's religion.
5) The birth position of the individual for the Ada's
6) The nature of the individual's job.
7) The individual's likes and dislikes.
8. Etc

It is impractical to get all the much needed basic information on one date. If you like the person you may want to have several other dates in order to get to know more about him or her before making a commitment.

Please note that it is important to ask questions and insist on sincerity without making your date uncomfortable or make it sound like he or she is being interviewed formally.

Dating is meant to be fun.

These are some questions u need to ask urself first & ur partner as the relationship begins.
1. what are ur short term goals?
2. What are ur long term goals?
3. What are ur views abt relationship (e.g relationship with his father, mother, colleague, God, siblings, co-wokers, an ordinary man on d streets, friends.......& so on)
4.What do u think u about me?
5. What do u feel about me?
6. ETC
