Following comments made by controversial Catholic Priest, Rev Fr Ejike Mbaka, that the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan has been plagued with bad luck, the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria, CBCN, has said that the man of God is on his own.

President of CBCN, Archbishop Ignatius Kaigam, in an interview with ThisDay, distanced the Catholic Church from the comments, stating that the founder of Adoration Ministry, Enugu Catholic Archdiocese, should be solely held responsible for his remarks.

Kaigam noted that Mbaka’s New Year message cannot stand as the view of over 30 million Catholics in Nigeria.

“There are more than 30 million Catholics in Nigeria, Fr Mbaka is just one Catholic, if he makes a statement, it cannot be the voices of more than 30 million Nigerian Catholics speaking,” Kaigam said in the interview.

Speaking further, the head of the Catholic Bishops advised Nigerians to “avoid hasty generalisation.”

“Mbaka cannot speak for the church, only the CBCN can speak for the church. Those who are complaining should go to Fr Mbaka and find out why he is saying what he is saying. I tell you, even the Canon Law forbid a priest to engage in partisan politics,” the group said.

Fr Mbaka has come under harsh criticisms over his comments. The man of God has alleged threat to his life.

As men of God who own a congregation of people with diverse political inclination, is it wise to spoil one party in praise of another?

There is supposed to be neutrality and they ought to pray for the overall welfare of the nation instead of being partisan and that's the same mistake Pastor Tunde Bakare made yesterday also.

God Help Us!

From the title of this thread, I thought Mbakwe had been stripped of his mantleship.
Of course everyman should stand by his word. I dont see Mbakwe begging people to stand with him.
He has said his piece, who wan die make e die.

Father mbaka has the right to address the failings of the president, just like God told prophet Nathan to tell david he rejected him. The church today like licking the a$$ of the government of the day. Gej should just be packing his hats and boxes together. The lord has spoken
