That Rooney/Mata argument no be for here o, Mata has proven to be better than Rooney in terms of control and passes infact I'm always rest assured whenever a ball either long or short is coming towards Mata, that apart Mata doesn't play the make eno spoil for my hand football. In the last 5 matches, the edges Rooney has over Mata are goals, occasionally long ball and of course his Captain band.

rooney should be compared to carrick, blind, jones & smalling. how can you compare rooney to RVP/falcao - who mostly shoot when they receive passes. who's van persie meant to give short passes to when his job is to score? should he pass backwards or pass to an opponent?

strikers have less than 2 seconds to decide what they do with the ball - they play in high pressure zones of the pitch. one of the reasons rooney drops deep even when played as a lone striker is because of his poor ball control - he runs to areas where defenders aren't breathing down his neck.
