Futanians or Futakobe lol,
The other part of the name is being neglected increasingly lol

The Jallon is named after the Jallonka group. Basically we were the two majority ethnic groups there until the Jihad. Sort of like Hausa Fulani .

So OmarBah, the Jallonke/Jallonka are a Mande group right? so what is the ethnic makeup of Fouta Djallon now? I know it is predominately Fulbe

I have always seen it in literature as Yallunka... Interesting bit.
Fulaman, many of the Yalunka are still there, Wikipedia (sourced from ethnologue) says their population is 120K+ and about 86K in Guinea
That is insignificant....

Most of the ones living in Futa are Fulbe by culture now. This is the case for the Sarakolle or Soninke and also for the Maninka that have lived there for a long time.

@Bororojo and OmarBah my dear brothers you are both right. That is often the case. Where sadly the larger ethnic group (in this case us Fulbe) absorbs the smaller groups in the region and often the smaller groups lose their culture/sub-culture. Well I guess it's better than them becoming Westernised. I don't mind if an African culture loses its culture to another African culture. But when an African culture loses its culture to a European culture then angry angry angry angry angry angry angry angry

Brother, I'm not going to lie to you, I don't like that kind of music. I'm very 100% pro traditionalist. I know a lot of you may think it's abnormal for a young man born in the mid 80s to have this mentality, but I do lol. It sounds too Makossa/Soukous like for my tastes.

Yes, these people are Fulani through and through, most of them are from Adamawa between Nigeria and Cameroon. These pictures were posted by Fulanis themselves in another forum. So, no they are not Horners, but west Africans.
