Marc9:thank you doctor. Today's scan read 31mm. And when I got to my doctor he said I will still need to do scan tomorow that it is likely to rupture tomorw.I ask him abt hcg trigger he said I shud still go tomorow and come back with the result for him to know nxt line of action. My fear is that considering all I have read online I don't c anyone having d kind of follicle size I had. Could it be a cysts? Is there any drug I can use to assist in ovulating tomorow? Kindly help out |
Re: Health Advice: Doctors Online by Nobody: 2:32pm On Jan 08, 2015 |
everfaithfulGod: A matured follicle has a size within the range of 17mm to 27mm. But in a case where it keeps growing above 30mm, it's taking another dimension. It's likely becoming a cyst. Depending on the cycle length, every matured follicle(17mm-27mm) is expected to rupture at its midcycle(cd14 for a 28days mc). I don't know your mc, but that follicle ought to have ruptured naturally on cd14, or induced to rupture with a more effective ovulation stimulator like the hCG trigger. You know what? Let's wait till tomorrow and see if the follicle would rupture. |

doctors in the house, what are the drugs for pile treatment ? |
Re: Health Advice: Doctors Online by Nobody: 5:45am On Jan 09, 2015 |
candidbabe: Haemorrhoid results when one's diet is low in fibre, and low hydration. The treatment depends on severity, ranging from non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, rectal suppository(used for internal haemorrhoid), rectal cream(used for external haemorrhoid), surgery(indicated in varicose and thromborectal vein). You can start by eating loads of vegetables and fruits which contain high fibre and water content. Avoid habitual delay in defaecating. You can go to a nearby pharmacy and ask the pharmacist for Anusol-HC(suppository and cream). If you have a bulged dentate(external haemo..), apply the cream twice daily. If the haemorrhoid is inside the rectum(internal haemo..), apply the suppository twice daily as well. Better still, you can see a doctor in person for rectal examination, if the haemorrhoid(pile) is chronic. |

Hello Doctor, I have an history of high prolactin, but however I have being taking some medications and it seems to have improved. But the issue is that I got a positive ovulation test result for 7th & 8th of this month but with no signs of ovulation and no stretchy cervical mucus. Is it possible that is a false positive. i would appreciate your response. |
Re: Health Advice: Doctors Online by Nobody: 7:04pm On Jan 09, 2015 |
Mumsyfiyin: Well, the reason why you didn't notice any stretchy mucus is because you actually didn't ovulate(low LH surge). Your estrogen level was low as well, and that explains why you didn't notice any cervical mucus. Conclusion: You didn't ovulate |

mum : The size of the fibroids is quite large, but the location doesn't seem like it would affect conception. Submucosal and intramural fibroids tend to affect the chances of conceiving because the give the endometrium a distorted outline and disrupt implantation You can opt for myomectomy in removing the multiple fibroids, though their position do not necessarily impede TTC. Some medications like oral contraceptives can actually shrink the size of fibroids, since these benign growths are estrogen and progesterone dependent. |
Re: Health Advice: Doctors Online by mumjk: 8:56pm On Jan 09, 2015 |
Marc9:thanks so much marc9 for ur quick response may God continually bless u! Pls I will like to know if I concieve wit d fibroids if I can carry to term. |
Re: Health Advice: Doctors Online by Nobody: 9:16pm On Jan 09, 2015 |
mumjk: Yes you can. Most fibroids do not disrupt pregnancy. In fact, fibroids might actually shrink during pregnancy, since pregnancy also relies on rich supply of progesterone and estrogen for sustenance, depriving the fibroids of these hormones. Your concern now should be how to conceive. |

NQ: The pain in the n*pples, with the sore, is due to mastitis, an inflammation of the bre*st, particularly the n*pples and d the areola. An increase growth in Staph aureus in bre*st-skin most often leads to such pain and sore. Also, hyperprolactinaemia(high prolactin in the blood) can also result in painful n*pples. The less painful n*pple should be used in bre*stfeeding for a day or more, to give room for the other to heal up. Then you can interchange to also give room for the other to heal. You can take anti-inflammatory drug to relieve the pain, and also dab the n*pple/areola with warm water. |

mum2bsoon: If only you knew earlier the great adverse effects of dexamethasone, I'm sure you would have tried other means of gaining weight. Dexamethasone is primarily indicated in the Tx of allergies and inflammation. But most people, particularly people who are keen on gaining weight, use it off-label. The drug is 100% responsible for both miscarriages. One of its adverse effects on ladies is menstrual irregularities. The drug can also predispose ladies to endometriosis. Your gynae didn't quiz you enough, and he probably didn't understand what was going on. The HVS you ran showed klebsiella spp because it's one of the genital florae in women, and you likely had increased growth of kleb due to the immune-suppressing effect of the dexamethasone. The ofloxacin did more harm than good. The antibiotic only succeeded in inhibiting Lactobacilli spps that regulate the growth of opportunistic genital florae like Staph, Candida, gardnerella, pepstreptococci, E.coli and others. In summary, the pill suppressed your immune system. That explains why you've been having recurrent typhoid fever, malaria fever, chest congestion, and irregular menstruation. The ofloxacin also compounded to the problem because the antibiotic took a toll on lactobacilli spp, giving Staph the chance to grow. Send a PM, I'll recommend some tests you'll run, to ascertain the state of the damage the dexamethasone might have done. |

Good morning Doc, i have been noticing things like boils that comes and goes in my ppart. Is it a kind of infection? And if it is, what can i do to make it go away. |
Re: Health Advice: Doctors Online by Nobody: 8:53am On Jan 16, 2015 |
Francesxavier: Good morning Fxavier. Well, recurrent furuncles(boil) around the genital is likely as a result of Staph aureus. You're likely having moderate to heavy growth of skin florae. Perhaps your immune is suppressed, or you actually sustained tiny bruises when you shaved your pub*c area with sharp shaving blades. The bruises could have been exposed to infection. You have to treat the infection. Well, I mind how I rx drugs online. So I'll have to ask you to send me a PM. |

Good morning doctor,i must commend the good job you are doing here, may God bless you. Sir,am 7wks pregnant, I went to the hospital today for the 1st time and I was given 1)calcuim 2) folic 3)femons.though am not sure of the 3rd one since the writing is not that clear.a nurse advice be earlier to tak only pregnacare that it contains all the necessary vitamins I will need.am confuse as to which one to get. Secondly, I ordinarily weight 54kg but 2day I was weighting 60.5.the increase in weight is much for me pls I need advice on how to put it under check. Thirdly, for the past few days the only thing I have been eating is eba n okro soup or yam porridge n it has to have plenty pepper or I won't be able to it.that the only two food that my system has allowed passage for.my question is that hope the intake of pepper won't have any effect on the pregnancy? Thank you. |
Re: Health Advice: Doctors Online by Nobody: 1:27pm On Jan 16, 2015 |
missmalachi: Well, the pregnacare contains most nutrients required to sustain healthy pregnancy. So it's ok to get the pregnacare. Secondly, most ladies tend to add up weight during pregnancy due to hormonal surge, and voracious appetite. For you to maintain your weight, you have to eat more of vegetables and fruits, then get yourself involved in regular light exercise every morning. About your irritation, well in pregnancy, ladies tend to get easily irritated due to changes in hormonal level. The pepper in peppery food has a way of inhibiting the release of histamine. You can eat peppery food, it doesn't disturb or threaten the pregnancy, though too much could upset your bowel. But as long as you eat loads of vegetables and fruits, you'll be just fine! |

Re: Health Advice: Doctors Online by Nobody: 2:34am On Jan 17, 2015 |
Justbright: Why not go see a dentist so an XR can be done to check if your jaw isn't fractured?! Such recurrent pain could only indicate a Fx in the jaw, with inflammed gingiva. |
