Whoever thinks Nigeria has a strong army should explain to us how BokoHaram can abduct 200girls for more than 2months and the govt still remains clueless on how to rescue them, how Bokoharam can kill 2000 people and there is security in that nation and how can an insurgent group like BokoHaram control any section of a country(Borno) that claims to be the giant of Africa.

Although I think Russia alone can defeat the US at this stage, and lets be honest the next World War isn't going to be a conventional one, the countries that survive the next WW are the ones that either have the most or absolutely 0 Nuclear warheads, thus I think we Africans will be ok if WW3 happens.

i dont agree that africans wouldnt be affected by WW3;the third world war is going to be a religious war, jihad grows stronger by the day,and a time will come when the 'doctrine of destruction' would sway many and plunge the world into a catalystic devastation.africans will be affected, one way or another, lets just hope that we choose the winning side,

South Africans' false information busted ! shockedshockedshocked

Only 150 people including Bokos died in Baga

.[/size]

The Defence authorities have faulted the claim that over 2,000 people were killed in the Boko Haram attack on Baga, the headquarters of the Multi-National Joint Task Force on January 3.

The Director of Defence Information, Maj. Gen. Chris Olukolade, said this during a press briefing in Abuja on Monday. He said that 150 people including a large number of members of the Boko Haram sect were killed in the confrontation.

Olukolade explained that many of the residents of Baga and the nearby communities had fled the area because of incessant attacks on their towns by the Boko Haram sect.

He added that many of the residents of the community were able to flee the area while the battle between the soldiers and the insurgents lasted.

Olukolade said that the figures being reported and attributed to eyewitnesses were exaggerated.

“…It is however necessary to inform Nigerians in the interim that the exercise so far has not corroborated the report on the casualty rate which was put at 2,000.

“From all available evidences, the number of people who lost their lives during that attack has so far not exceeded about 150 in the interim. This figure includes many of the terrorists who were bearing arms and got killed in the course of their attack and battle with troops.

Nigerian Army stands firm in Baga !

UPDATES ON BAGA BY GEN. CHRIS OLUKOLADE (Defence Spokesperson)

@GENOlukolade: My attention has been drawn to a sponsored opinion in a Chadian Newspaper, The Government of Chad does not share this sentiment.

The Sponsored piece on Chadian Paper Al-Widha claims Chad Govt refused to cooperate with our Military because we are allegedly corrupt.

It is merely another remark to trumpet the campaign of local and foreign sympathizers or collaborators of terrorists operating in Nigeria. None of those meaningless allegations of corruption has ever been proved. They are just diversionary and a tool for detractors.

Al-Widha Report: Another irresponsible alibi coming from the foreign and local pro-terrorist party. It means NOTHING to us here.
We are Fighting in Baga. We are taking Terrorists down, We are losing our Soldiers too. STOP the Noise, Let’s Fight.

We in the Military swore an Oath to the Code, of Allegiance to Country. Rise above Political Propaganda. Evil is Evil #BagaTogether
For Reasons known to them Niger, Chad withdrew their Troops from the MJTF HQ’d in Baga. We own this fight. Stop the division #BagaTogether

Where did I say SA should crave for war? I said you crave for combat experience which you DON'T have in your Hollywood SANDF.

Crave for war or not, there is war all over Africa, SANDF should wake up like real men and go fight to save smaller African countries like C.A.R Bangui where you ran away because Seleka teenage boys showed that real war is different from military photography album production.

Stop making excuses that South Africa has nothing to gain in C.A.R, why should you only help weaker African brothers if you are promised mineral wealth for deploying SANDF, is your SANDF a mercenary force.....soldiers of fortune and rewards?

Only 1 of your 4 Frigates is operational
Only 1 of your 3 submarines is operational.
All 26 South-African Augusta helicopters grounded
Only 3 C-130's are operational.
9 Gripen pilots for 26 jets
10 helicopters for a country with a 1.2km area

Makes a person wonder, why South-Africa even bothers with a military in the first place undecided undecided.

Thats one more frigate than nigeria
Thats one more sub than nigeria
Augusta were temporarily grounded
3 C130's is more than you
Over 14 gripen pilots - thats 14 more 4th gen platforms than you
Those 10 attack helicopters are more advances than anything you have - their superioirty over the hind has been shown in combat

The same whitemen professional researchers did NOT declare and publish the United Kingdom as a failed state when IRA terrorist waged a 27 year old religious war against Great Britain on British home-soil, but now white men list a black Nigeria as a failed state when we fight a religious war at home. Racism means double standards, so the whites have a new vocabulary that applies only to black and colored nations.

If those publishers can publish that the U.K. was a failed state for 27 years fighting IRA terrorists, then we will accept the same definition for Nigeria.

Oh, I forgot, South Africa too was a failed state for 30 years while fighting ANC terrorists
.

Augustus - terrorism is not the only criterion, they use hundreds

You cannot argue with the work of professionals who have dedicated their lives to work on the topic.

Nigeria is currently the 16th most failed state on earth. Deal with it.

Well don't be scared we remain ONE and our support to our army and government whether we like it or not is endless !

Nigeria is one of the most diverse Nations on planet earth, certainly in the top 3 (along with India and Papua new guinea). 8% of the worlds languages are spoken in Nigeria and to top it off we have more than 8 TIMES more people than you do (22 million vs 180+ million people). So never compare situations between Nigeria and Cameroon, cause you are nowhere near our level nor are you anywhere near our level of complexity. By the way since this thread is all about d1ck waving i will like to point out that Nigeria (with 8 times more people) have a per capita GDP that is TWICE Cameroonians, not overall GDP, Per capita (PPP). The same corruption that brought you 26 Jets you cannot fly after 16 years, the same corruption that has left your inept navy with only 1 operational frigate, that same corruption has lead to a 100 million rand in corrupt contract for the re-fit of a single ship.

This is the "And so".

Anyway, corruption in the South-African military procurement process is common place.

First - the navy is currently running at planned operational numbers. Only people whom lack knowledge on the topic think that peacime navies can run at anything other than an average of 1/3 strenght - just look at the german navy for example

Second - there is alleged corruption not actual corruption

Third - 14 gripen and growing is 14 more 4th gen platforms than nigeria

Let me remind you that your navy is inept, incompetent and run by a bunch of clowns. There is nothing professional about your comedic navy.

A military that buys equipment it doesn't need, it cannot man, it cannot afford, it cannot maintain is many things, but professional clearly isn't one of them

- we do need them (SAN has allways operated frigates)
- we can and do man them, we are still following the blue print from when we aquired them: 1 operational, 1 training, 1 under maintenance, 1 in refit and the same with the subs (1 operational, 1 training, 1 refit)
- the fact that the we have completely overhauled all of our equipment in South Africa shows quite clearly that we can maintain it.

Henry120:

What is major about ibsamar, an exercise the Brazilians attended with a run down corvette, or the fact the indian flotilla was mostly in port-louis, while attending the exercise with an OPV?

A run down Corvette? You mean one of the latest corvettes in the Brazilian fleet?

The indian flotilla was in port louis? wtf is port louis?

The attended with an OPV? The INS Teg is an OPV now?

BWA-HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

SAN and our strategic parters have just completed real and meaningful exercises that are far more strenuous and comprehensive than the Nigerian navy has ever done - your greatest acheivement is having a whole lot of countries come have a party in your waters while you contributed nothing and claimed it as your own (When it was actually AFCOM who organied and ran it)

Lets also not mention that SAN sent a warship up the west coast of africa, had a frigate in Mozambique waters 24/7 (even when we had another frigate operating in EX Ibsamar) and conducted further exercises with the French

Now we are performing maintenance in anticipation of the up coming exercises with the Germans
Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by patches689: 2:34am On Jan 13, 2015
Henry120:

There is always some excuse for your inept military.

Here are the facts.

Only 1 Frigate is operational in South-Africa from a fleet of 4.

1 operational submarine from a fleet of 3

The SANDF should be disbanded and assets sold. You have no use for them anyway. Your Navy and Airforce are the 2 sides of the same in-competent COIN.

The Nigerian Navy is geared towards threats, not a compulsion to buy so we can show of, and then abandon equipment.

We don't buy 4 relic frigates, when we actually need OPV's....... and then go " oh..... we actually should have bought OPV's instead of Frigates".

We don't buy fighter jets we cannot maintain, fly or fuel for after 16 years.

We don't have 3 C-130's for an Area which is well over 1.2 km in size. We actually fly 14 transport planes for a 900km area.

Our defence planners do not go about purchasing stuffs we don't need, just because we want to take photographs of them.

Meticulous planning goes into each procurement process. This is to afford been saddled with a fleet of 26 grounded A109's or 12 mothballed Gripens, or 1 Frigate and 1 submarine.

SAN is the sort of navy you get when you have MK clowns running your defence force

1. Frigates and subs

This is normal and it is how planned for them to operate when we bought them. Again, you fail to understand maintenance, its importance, and how much needs to be done.

Take a look at the German Navy: only 2 out of 5 of their new K130 corvettes are operational at any one time

You did buy 4 relic frigates - those vessels are over 45 years old.

2. Buying OPV's

Frigates and subs were purchased to replace capacity the SAN was about to lose to old equipment. At that time there was no real piracy in Africa and hence no need for OPV's

Now there is piracy is africa - so we are buying OPV"s

3. Gripen

We fly them, we maintain them, we had 14 in the air over a year ago and new pilots constantly qualify - meaning the number is growing.

4. C-130's

Because of maintenance, we only manage to keep 3 out of 9 operational.

You only have 5 total - meaning your operational C-130's is much much lower.

So well done on shooting yourself in the foot.

SAN is a balanced war fighting organization, we can do littoral patrole, and we can fight wars - you can do neither.

Lets imagine for a second what you say is true - that your lies hold some weight -, let us then compare our militarys:

SAAF: 9 operational 4th gen fighters
NAF: 0

SAN: 1 operational missile armed frigate
NN: 0

SAN: 1 operational sub
NN: 0

Who is then the strongest military between the two? Whom is better geared for war? Us or you?

Clown
