Jagz99: Sorry to hear about your delay. When did you apply and list documents you submitted. Is your sister in canada your sponsor? I think if you give informations the guru can help you refire |

funmi14: there is an organisation in Canada responsible for evaluating nursing certificates for IEN, just ask google 'how IEN certificate evaluation is done in Canada' |

Jagz99: What you submitted looks good. Did you give information about your sibling in canada? Sometimes they look into that and make certain decisions especially if that person is dependent on government benefits, they will think if the person's sibling gets there they might be dependent on government benefits. But don't think it's so in your case. Request for a new start date and refire, work on your SOP and emphasize why you will come back after your studies. At least your mum has a business that you can run after your studies how much was on your SOA? This case is a quick fix |

hello people, i am new on this thread and i need your guidelines. i have a B.Sc in elect/elect engineering with a second class lower(2.92 out of 5.0 CPGA) Now, i have chosen MUN to do my M.Sc in electrical engineering, luckily for me, they accept a 2.2 for it. Right now, i am applying for the program but there are some places where i run into hitches and thats where i need your advice and/or help. The first place is the place in the online form where i am supposed to fill in the names of my referees which i understand that at least one of whom must be an academic referee, now my question is that who may i use as the second referee? can i use a relative or some other persons? secoundly, at the place where i am supposed to put in my RESUME, i want to know what to know what type or format am i to use?. thanks in anticipation. |
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 7 by kfrosh: 11:38pm On Jan 14, 2015 |
Are u sure you have met the minimum requirements; cos dashing them your $100 ain't cool. Its kinda unrealistic getting admitted for Msc in Canada with anything less than a 2.1 so do your research well buddie. thecommunist: |
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 7 by thecommunist(m): 1:00am On Jan 15, 2015 |
kfrosh:the requirements state that its a secound class or "B" standing. also my buddy that is currently doing his post graduate diploma there said there are guys there that he personally knows that got admitted with a 2.2 |
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 7 by Onyeoma3: 1:06am On Jan 15, 2015 |
thecommunist: If you have a good working experience in your field or if your performance in the last 2 years of your undergraduate studies are excellent, you can go ahead to give it a shot. If by any chance you do not fall into one of the 2 cases above, well the possibility of getting a positive response is very low cos admission into Engineering programs is hyper competitive. |
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 7 by thecommunist(m): 1:20am On Jan 15, 2015 |
Onyeoma3:ok. but if not, what do you suggest i choose to study at MUN specifically? or better still, what other routes do i take to finally get to study Electrical engineering at masters level. |
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 7 by Onyeoma3: 3:59am On Jan 15, 2015 |
thecommunist: Postgraduate Diploma in either a university or college is the best bet, so as not to end up wasting your precious time...After your PGD program (with a good grade ooo), you can then proceed to a Masters program 1 Like |

emilyn: Travel history is not a biggy, if other areas are ok, it wont matter. Purpose of visit: If you are going for a lower degree to what you already have, or going for a program less than a year, or a course unrelated to your first degree or job and SOP does not capture this, you get this, from experience. Ties: Inability to prove to them that you have something that you will come back to-a job, a partner or kids, a business, landed properties or other kind of investments. Personal assets...:you are not financially able to run the program, you or your sponsor have not shown enough evidence that there is enough funds to sponsor you for this program. If you have been working, you should show your company employment, statement of account, etc Kindly note that this is based on people and my experience cos i was denied once also.Others can also chip in. Hope this helps and please note situations differ and affects how the VO sees things and takes decisions-if you are working, if you finished school years back and have no job, if you just finished nysc, etc. |

Onyeoma3:i am currently running a masters in Information technology here in Nigerian at the Open University and my grades are looking Good at the moment, do you think that maybe if i could wait to conclude it with good grades that i could use that as a leverage to boost my chances of getting admission into M.Eng electrical? or better still can i use my masters result here in I.T to apply for masters in electrical over there? |

Haustraliah: Quick question please, Cuz I'm already in your brother's shoes, classes have started and I'm awaiting medicals, how do you intend to pass the new admision letter with new start date across to them (VO), email? Or they have to ask? |
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 7 by ryd3(m): 7:16am On Jan 15, 2015 |
Good morning, I really need Ur help guys. I intend going for a PhD in History. I don't want to dash them my money, so can u tell me how realistic it is having a PhD straight from Nigeria. Also I applied to university of Calgary, and was told after calling their dept that I need a language proficiency test result, which I don't have. She also stated that many people apply, but a very few are admitted. So can u advise me on what to do. Or should I go for another masters? I'm at a crossroad, want to apply today., which is a deadline. Thanks |
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 7 by akanni(m): 7:48am On Jan 15, 2015 |
tnuola: At the stage of medicals, there is no admission letter that you are sending again.I was given my visa 2 months after school had resumed and of course, i had applied and gotten admission to another school anyway as back up since the school i initially planned to attend had resumed and had told me i had to wait till fall 2015. In essence, what you should be bothered about if at all is at the border entry. contact your school and find out if you can still make it and if yes, print out the mail. If you get to the border entry and they ask why you are just coming, let them know CIC delayed and the school is aware. show them the mail exchange and you will be ok.The guys at the border are much better than those reviewing our applications, lol. I came into Canada through Winnipeg and the lady who attended to me asked me to take pictures with a stuffed polar bear in their office while they were preparing my study permit, so, no fears. |

ryd3:You can try other schools with less stringent requirement. Calgary seem to be so competitive. There are schools that don't require language test also.Just do ur research and come out with at least 2 schools den u can give it a shot.. 1 Like |
