If what you meant was 'where your child can receive the vaccine', then you should take him to any of the general hospitals in Lagos. You can try Ikeja general hospital.

Can a surgeon conduct surgery without knowing the patient HIV status? I recently had surgery but i was only told to go for thyroid function test and full blood count. When the results came out the surgeon called and said there is nothing wrong with my blood. That everything is ok, so i should come for surgery.
Been wondering why i wasnt tested for HIV. Could it be they did it @ their own discretion?

We always use our discretion! I mean, it won't cost them anything to discreetly run HIV and HBV screening, just to ascertain the caution needed during surgery.

In summary, the screening was most likely done, and they found out you're ok(negative).

A blighted ovum doesn't get to the size of 20mm. For the follicle to assume that size, it means there was optimal secretion of FSH.

Hello Doc, I was told at the hospital about some new vaccines for new babies : Rotavirus and PCV1. These are supposed to be around 6 weeks or so and very expensive- about N13K each.

Well it depends. You may conceive naturally, but delivery will be through C-Section. Vag*nal Birth may put you at risk of uterine rupture.

For the diabetes, I really don't get what you meant by 'what to take to gain weight'. Most diabetes are overweight(BMI).

And why on earth would a diabetes want to gain weight, instead of shedding weight?!

I don't know how things are done in Nigeria but where I am, nobody runs HIV tests on a patient without his/her consent.

and yes, surgeries are done all the time withour HIV results! Nobody is getting in contact with the patient's blood in the theatre. The theatre is a super-controlled environment and if by any chance, any accident happens, the victim is subjected to anti-retroviral therapy ASAP!

however, @enatasha, why are you bothered that your HIV test wasn't done, are you in anyway positive? If you are, you should let your doctor know as part of your medical history. Will go a long way in your care.

An UTI in a child will mostly present with fever, and not redness of vagina! Not saying this can't be something else but chances lean more towards abuse. I expect you to flare up, answers mars' question about who she has been exposed to and go to a pediatrician immediately, but you just ignore and move on
