The Daily Independent is a newspaper
published in Nigeria. It is based in Lagos.
Independent Newspapers Limited was
incorporated on 17 July 2001 and started
operations in October 2001.

Wonder shall never end in Naija. A newspaper incorporated in 2001 now claimed to be reporting since 1985.

Gej better go and collect your money back from these fools else you will lose your money and lose your position. That will be double tragedy!

to those of u clamoring for second term I have a question for you all, do you really think Jonathan will perform if given another chance? and to those clamoring for change, do u think buhari will do better? or we just want change in the whole Nigerian system?
back to the rail issue buhari served for a little while, did a lot mostly thru his deputy but Jonathan served for longer period to effect change but still fell short in some area. for me I keep my finger crossed till may 29 wen we swore in the new president. then I will know who the winner is.
Still missing our girls!!!

Simple question

Since it started under Yaradua, what did yaradua to earn the clueful status and what has GEJ not done to earn the clueless status?

OP you are as clueless as your paymaster, comparing 1983 to 2015 i think your brain need to be checked. Can you also compare GMB presidential jets of 1983 to that of GEJ of 2015? can you also compare GMB presidential fleets of cars to that of GEJ of 2015? can you also compare living situation then to now? Some are mad but few are roaming the street. even in 93 did your father have access to internet?

Hey! What do you expect him to compare the present government with? 2050. Comparisons are made with previous governments and not with future government.

Operational performance of the Nigerian Railway
Corporation (NRC) reveal that the highest number of
passengers carried was 15,555,200 in 1984. Under buhari

businessdayonline.com/2013/04/attracting-private-investors-in-rail-transport/
Aunty Obiageli, with all due respect, we need more improvement in the rail sector not the number of passengers carried at a specific time. Besides, those days, rail transport was still very popular. No matter how a molue bus rough reach, people go still enter

This archival report is classic, I wonder how these APC people managed to brain-wash so many Nigerians, including the so called educated ones? The truth is that GEJ is trying to make Nigeria a better place but there is this evil alliance and demonic conspiracy against him by forces that are only interested in their selfish & avaricious gains, they use blackmail, intimidation, subterfuge, chaos & anarchy to advance their evil plans. God will see GEJ through & the violence these enemies of Nigeria are nurturing will consume them & their immediate families.

giving excuses for his failure. It is very unfair for you to compare a govt of 1&1/2 years with six years. but you forgot to tell the world that buhari built two refineries, that GEJ,is struggling to the revive in 6years.we should stop celebrating mediocrity.
And what happened when Obasanjo failed to revive it in 8 years. At least, good luck is even struggling to revive it. He built a something that was never used.

with all these some right thinking Nigerians will vote Buhari. Ok o. since the north is sabotaging GEJ'S govt with Bokoharam and claiming he is weak, when they take power even in 2019 it's their buckets that they will take to Rivers state if they must see crude. God go punish North papa.

Since this has made front Page let me modify.

I know every right thinking Nigerian that has followed Nigeria's Politics and development will not vote Buhari. Buhari claims he is Mr. Integrity but he does it at convinience only. If he is Mr Integrity he should come clean about the fact that he did not finish Secondary school. He should come clean about the fact that he did not buy a single rifle for the Army as President. Buhari claims he is Mr Integrity but he served under Sani Abacha and said openly that Abacha is not corrupt (& we want him to fight corruption) etc I don't blame the Millions of Northerners that he and his likes has kept illiterate and poor supporting him but it hurts me when I see enlightened Nigerians like you and I shouting change. Its Pathetic. At this point we are already facing the right direction as a Nation what we need is Improvement not change.
Not exactly everybody dat posts here is a well sound literate. Pity those dat scream 4 change whereas d change they deserve is right in front of them. Continuity is d best form towards development. Vote who u tink is right and capable so dat u won't regret tomorrow. GEJ is d best 4 now. Try to vote 4 buhari and u will definitely see d manifestation as wat happened to Ya'adua will happen to him. God bless nigeria.

Any business admin/economics/accounting student understands the TIME LAG between investments and performance as well as the reverse i.e. LACK of continuous investments and SUBSEQUENT deterioration.
In 1984 the peaked number of passengers benefitted from PREVIOUS regimes' investments in railways that was yet to ROT away completely.

No wonder you gave us a very small excerpt of the businessdayonline story for a complete DISTORTION of what the news was all about. You were trying to be CUNNING hoping that most of our fellow citizens are LAZY mofos who won't bother to check out the source and read the whole news. Thankfully not everyone is like that.

Let us see a much larger excerpt of the same story from your provided link =>

Just as the daft pensioner did not buy any gun throughout his two year regime of terror as military DICTATOR he also did not buy any locomotive or coach hence passenger & cargo numbers continued to decline since 1977 until the Jonathan/Sambo decided to give REAL support to this vital sector and we have been seeing the results of steady PROGRESS everywhere

The article was published almost two years ago in April 2013.
Most of the planned rehabilitation & expansion by the federal administration highlighted above have been completed and citizens who had been deprived of this alternative means of transport are benefitting.

The story for Lagos state light rail of ONLY 27kms is very pathetic. This was a project that Jakande already started CONSTRUCTION before the sadist DESTROYER of the good works of others in the form of a military DICTATOR Buhari cancelled it and made the state pay hefty fines for breach of contract in 1983.
32 years later, we have no rail!

Four years after Toronto aloku scrap train propaganda show and two years after Fashola boasted in January 2013 that five months later in June 2013 we will be tweeting from inside his aloku trains. We can only hope that the Association of Pretending Crooks, APC that has been ruining Lagos state for 16 years will not tell us it was bad business like the N8 billion Sunborn yacht floating hotel shocked

Amaechi's case is not different from SCAMMER Fashola's deception angry
Since Amaechi joined APC he has abandoned whatever little governance he was doing for Rivers state and recently came out to boldly say without shame that he cannot complete the Port Harcourt light rail.

Why would any right thinking Nigerian want to swap a PROGRESSively performing federal administration of Jonathan/Sambo for the FRAUDULENT people assembled in APC?
What type of citizen would do that except those afflicted by the Cow Cloned Brain Syndrome, CCBS

P.S.: Feel free to share this as widely as possible to all those you are following on NL and even outside NL.

Kai Buhari!!!
#Liberate-Lagos

So when its Buhari, we should attribute it to lag but when its Jonathan, no lag abi? Citizens that need train have being enjoying it. Who told you I don't need train too.

Also, you proceed to tarnishing anything APC related which expresses bias on your part and makes your long post useless.

Daily Independence of January 20th 1985 headline report of conditions of our railway lines during under Buhari's leadership.

For those downplaying Jonathan's efforts in reviving our railway transport see what your progressive principal did to it in 1985. A problem Jonathan is solving now. This is aside the cancellation of Lagos metro line which would have added so much value to our transport sector by now.

Buhari left it to rot and decay, creating thousands of unemployment. Goodluck came took the rot and decay out and recreated thousands of job from it.

I prefer Goodluck the economy revivalist.

Built whaaaaaaat. cry The only refinery connected to Buhari is Warri Refinery started by Muritala and commissioned under OBJ when Buhari was petroleum minister. that's all. Kaduna was commissioned in 1983 by shagari and that same year Buhari toppled him, PH is 1989 by IBB and Eleme 1965. How did that uneducated crap called Buhari come into the picture? stop bowing to propaganda. The PIB currently at the National Assembly prepared by GEJ's govt. will finally kill corruption in the NNPC, so why has our legislators not pass it. well for your info. The North has missed it by frustrating GEJ'S govt with Bokoharam.

In a democracy its much more difficult to build such infrastructure without requisite legislation OBJ, Yar'adua did nothing. The PIB prepared by GEJ's govt. before the National assembly at the moment will set the ball rolling for a holistic overhaul of our oil and Gas Industry. We are learned let Buhari get the illiterate votes but lets give GEJ our votes as enlightened people.

At times when I see write up by people whom I presume to be educated, just come n say stuffs n all they just want is CHANGE...I laugh n wonder. What n who is a leader? I believe a leader is someone who is ahead of his followers at every point in time able to think and profer solutions at all times, even if he gets ideas from subordinate he the leader is able to pin point the best idea and act on it. Now I ask Nigerians who just shout CHANGE is it change in direction for good in Nigeria, you want or just in the person of the presidency....I begin to ponder how Nigeria as a nation in this CENTURY will begin to celebrate some one who has no SECONDARY SCHOOL LEAVING CERTIFICATE to come and rule you as president its a pity that many don't use their brain.......
As a president you are expected to meet with world leaders and play host to them from time to time, now tell me how someone like OBAMA will feel discussing world problem and possible solution with an illiterate like ur change u clamour.
Also tell me what African leaders will say when the PRESIDENT of her much respected Giant of Africa (NIGERIA) ,Has no COMMON secondary school certificate.
Some will say the vice is well read, yes but you will all agree with me that the position of the vice president is as silent as a dead lion as far as Nigeria is concerned.
2011 saw youth cop members and innocent civilians being slaughtered like cows in the north just because this same person we all see as a change factor made it clear that there will be no peace an that blood will flow in Nigeria.
A desperate man seeking power.
Let me kindly say to nairalanders and Nigerians in general, when u vote a clueless man into power expect nothing but the worse...
Economy will be in comatose.
Workers will be own months of salaries .
There will be no sustainability of government policy.
Businesses will fold up because money will be in few hands.
Foreign investment in Nigeria will shrink.
Various regions will clamour for break up.
Terrorism will be on the increase.
Nigerian will be under autocratic rule named democracy and many who try to oppose will be slaughtered.
Jonathan as a president of Nigeria has done his best, mind you this is democracy where every ideas you come up with no matter how promising it seems it must pass through the Senate and trust me you if it will only benefit, the masses and deny those thiefs any share it is swept under the carpet.
So the point is military rule is far different from democracy...if you doubt me ask obasanjo.
And if you think Jonathan has done nothing for you, then vote Mr clueless then await . My opinion.
