Jimi Agbaje Resoundingly Wins LCCI Debate by JimiAgbaje2015: 1:32pm On Jan 24, 2015 |
It was an electrifying debate in Lagos, as the Governorshipcandidate for the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr. Jimi Agbaje debated thecandidate of the APC, Akinwunmi Ambode on Friday January 23, 2015 under the auspicesof the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI). Under the attentive scrutinyof Captains of Industry, senior members of the Lagos State Government andmembers of the Public, Mr. Agbaje masterfully pitched his policy ideas to thebusiness community. Mr. Agbaje showed a strong understanding of the critical businessand policy issues, using the opportunity of his opening remarks to set-out his overallpolicy agenda. He outlined what he referred to as ‘business realities’ intomicro and macro issues – starting with the expected impact of falling oilprices, imminent reforms in Nigeria and ending with the problems ofinfrastructure, the high cost of doing business and high unemployment in theface of labour shortages. Mr. Agbaje answered questions deploying verifiablefacts and figures to answer questions thrown at him by members of thehigh-level debate panel which included Ms. Funke Opeke of MainOne and otherprominent members of the business community. Addressing the issue of the expected impact of falling oilrevenues on the finances of the State, he stated that Lagos needs to diversifyits economy and introduced the concept of the Ocean Economy, to take advantageof the unique geographical advantage of Lagos. According to him, the OceanEconomy will involve the development of Epe and Ikorodu as National fishprocessing hubs and the development of logistics and supporting infrastructure. Mr. Agbaje asserted his belief that the Private Sector is keyin the development of infrastructure in the state through properly structuredPublic-Private-Partnerships (PPPs). He maintained that the PPPs he refers towill be open to all Lagosians in contrast to the ‘exclusive’ partnerships bythe current administration. He intends to pursue this model to deliver the muchneeded light-rail system, as part of an integrated multi-modal transport systemfor Lagos as well as the provision of housing. Mr. Agbaje reiterated his earlier position that he will becancelling the tolling on the Lekki-Epe Expressway as the concessionaires havebeen paid off. According to Mr. Agbaje, primary and basic education .... Continue reading here --- https://www.facebook.com/notes/jimi-agbaje-2015/jimi-agbaje-resoundingly-wins-lcci-debate/718938154893484 3 Likes

To me Agbaje has always been a smooth talker and has a way of convincing only the clueless people, he won the debates in 2007 too, yet Fashola won the election and performed exceptionally. Doers are who we want and who we will vote, not talkatives, that only have paper propaganda. APC has been tried and tested in Lagos state and will have my vote over and over again. Until he explain how he will make "Lagos the number destination in the world" and How he will "reduce cost of Land" ,Agbaje should just hide his bleached/ burnt face. Imagine a pharmacist that can't maintain his face, want to reform Lagos. 16 Likes 1 Share |

Agbaje is a very brilliant man, if he was running on his DPA platform, Lagosians would have endorsed him unanimously. But PDP? That is where his problem lie. PDP unfortunately is led by a criminal and ex con in Lagos, he happens to also be Agbaje's godfather. Nobody will want Lagos to fall into the hands of George and Ogunlewe. A+ will be elected 2 Likes |

sbaks: It is ridiculous for people to suggest that Bode George is Jimi's godfather. We're talking about an accomplished and self-made Jimi that has been running for governor and has been popular with the masses since 2007. If anything, I think Jonathan himself is Jimi's godfather in the sense that he asked the likes of Bode George and Ogunlewe to ensure he wins the primaries since the masses seem to like him a lot. Besides, unlike Tinubu who handpicked random puppets from nowhere and installs them in office for his personal political and financial gain, Bode George merely bowed to the wishes of the majority of ordinary Lagosians who all wanted Jimi. We can't say that Bode George had any previous personal ties with Jimi such that makes the latter his 'boy' that he can trust and control as a puppet. If you say he is a godfather, then this is what I will define as populist godfatherism, which means using one's privileged political position to implement the wishes of the ordinary majority. This is a wonderful thing if you ask me. That will make Bode George a hero rather than a villain. 1 Like |
