Somalia as a country was created in 1960. But Somali is an ethnicity, and exist for hundreds of years, and had many kingdoms.

Fyi, in the video, he says Somalis sailed an helped Kenyans against the Portuguese, in reality they helped the Arabs who enslaved the Kenyans against the Portuguese.

Well most africans were on the coast and that10Kilometers meant tens of thousands of slaves.

They were? Lol

Oman controlled the area for a couple hundred years.

Where did you learn your history? The Somali curriculum?

To the point that Swahili is made a good chunk of Arabic.

More like 5pc arabic, and linguists all over the world has classified the Swahili language as a Bantu tongue. smiley

Armchair historians, the Arabs, Indians and Chinese had been in East Africa centuries before the first Portugeuse Vasco da Gama sailed up the coast and saw the wealth. A few months later the Portugeuse armada came for the wealth and kicked out the Sultan. If you don't know history I can teach you.

Somalia has 15 million Somalis, Ethiopia has over 5 million, Somalis in Ethiopia dont share a border with the southern people of Ethiopia.

Also the people in souther Ethiopia have been largely enslaved by Ethiopians of Cushitic/Semetic speakers.
if they were slaves they would not be living the way they do

Slavery in Ethiopia has existed for centuries. The practice formed an integral part of the Afro-Asiatic-dominated Ethiopian society, from its earliest days through to the 20th century. Slaves were traditionally drawn from the Nilotic Shanqella populations inhabiting Ethiopia's southern hinterland. War captives were another source of slaves, though the perception, treatment and duties of these prisoners was markedly different.[1] Slaves were also sold abroad as part of the Arab slave trade, serving as concubines, bodyguards, servants and treasurers.[2] In response to pressure by Western Allies of World War II, Ethiopia officially abolished slavery and involuntary servitude after having regained its independence in 1942. On 26 August 1942, Haile Selassie issued a proclamation outlawing slavery.[3]

Your just repeating what I said. Arabs had slaves in Kenya and Tanzania for hundreds of years. Portugal came to Kenya after they were defeated by Somalis when Somalia and Ethiopia went to war. Ottoman empire was on the side of Somalis and the Ethiopians and Portugal were allied together.

No am not.It was not just Arabs, slavery was a common practice at that time.Everybody had slaves. Also, the East African Coast was very multicultural, some Arabs happened to be slaves as well.

Portugal came to Kenya after they were defeated by Somalis when Somalia and Ethiopia went to war.

Huh? When did you fight the Portugeuse? Considering the Suez Canal was not in existence, the Portugeuse had to go around South Africa and sail up thr East African coast before they reached Somalia. Why would they fight Somalis anyways? Did you have established city states to conquer or trade routes to the East to monopolize? History has to be surportted with facts. cool

Ottoman empire was on the side of Somalis and the Ethiopians and Portugal were allied together.

The Ottomans were a colonizing force, they colonized Arabia why would they be on your side, considering they had no interests south of Egypt? Ethiopia and Portugal allied together? When and why lol? This guy just types what he wished had happened!! Pure jokes. tongue

You have not addressed his point. The Ethiopia(Abyssinia) of the past is not the same as today. The Ras' realm did not extend to the Nilotic hinterland, even the most humble of history students would know this.Learn to read and comprehend before you type. kiss

Arabs in east africa were not slaves. They came from Oman to enslave Kenyans, tanzanians, thats the reason why so much of their language has been wide spread in east africa and mixed with bantu languages : SWAHILI

Funny you speak of a region your not from. The entire area was the backwaters of Somalis/Arabs especially after Somalis defeated Ethiopia in 1500's.

Man, your pathetic, you will always jump on another branch like a monkey. How would Ethiopians enslave Nilotics, if they didnt take over their land. Ethiopias borders have been like that with the exception of Ogaden (which they got in the early 1900's).

Ha! That's entirely my point. wink

The wahabbi funded education system(masjids) would not teach you that.

They came mostly to trade for spices gold and ivory. The Omani arabs were also the last batch of arabs to the region, having been routed by the Ottomans in their realms.Languages actually spread faster through trade, a proven fact.Swahili was a medium of exchange stupid. It is not only influenced by Arabic but also Portuguese, Indian and Persian.

Somalis had sultanates. Ajurran, Adaal.
Re: Why Can't People Embrace Pan-africanism? Why So Much Hatred On This Forum?? by Ajuran: 2:54am On Jan 29, 2015
Google abyssinian-Adal war. Adal was a Somali Kingdom

Between 1529 and 1543, the Somali military leader Imam Ahmad ibn Ibrahim al-Ghazi defeated several Ethiopian emperors and embarked on a conquest referred to as the Futuh Al-Habash ("Conquest of Abyssinia"wink, which brought three-quarters of Christian Abyssinia under the power of the Muslim Sultanate of Adal.[5][6] With an army mainly composed of Somalis,[7] Al-Ghazi's forces and their Ottoman allies came close to extinguishing the ancient Ethiopian kingdom. However, the Abyssinians managed to secure the assistance of Cristóvão da Gama's Portuguese troops and maintain their domain's autonomy. Both polities in the process exhausted their resources and manpower, which resulted in the contraction of both powers and changed regional dynamics for centuries to come. Many historians trace the origins of hostility between Somalia and Ethiopia to this war.[8] Some scholars also argue that this conflict proved, through their use on both sides, the value of firearms such as the matchlock musket, cannons and the arquebus over traditional weapons.[9]

Its been over a month, your still trolling as a Somali. Whats funnier is your doing a terrible job.

Your talking about Somalis being Pan African, yet the primary goal of Somali government and Alshaabab is to take Northern Kenya and Ogaden.

The most liberal Somali government is anti Negro, and Bantus in Somali who are a small minority have no rights and live like 2nd class citizens.

Good luck pretending to be Somali. A simple Somalinet read, will wake up any delusional afrocentric who is skeptical.

Lol, I live in Minnesota. Their is no Pan African at all. Stop lying to yourself.

Somalis opened their own schools, shops, etc. The mosques dont like NON muslims, and the non religious Somalis are patriotic and want Somalia to be successful and nothing to do with Africans.

If Somalis can't get along with Kenyans, or the Bantus inside of Somalia, do you thing they are magically Pan African now?

I guess a crazy person, will create their own world view. Just a few days ago, A Somali shop owner killed a Negro is South Africa.

Somalis are more likely to be Pan Arab than Pan African. Somalia is part of the Arab league, even though we are not Arab.

Their already inhabited and governed by Somalis. Only a matter of time.

Bantus are narrow minded and some how falsely believe that a land mass can dictate a peoples ambitions and world view.

Somalia and Djibouti joined Arab league to counter balance African Union, and Somalia's staunchest supporter in the African Union are Egypt and Sudan.

People and their ambitions can be controlled if need be Bantu and Woyane interests are superior in those lands.

Both are insignificant economically and militarily. They were dead weight to the continent. To make my point short, you did us a great favor.. wink
