In the meeting which shall hold on Thursday, the Council of States convened by President Goodluck Jonathan shall discuss among other things, the possibility of poll shift.

Though, INEC had announced its stance against postponing the election, some leaders feel the poll should be postponed to enable INEC distribute more voter cards to the public.

The council consists of the President, the Vice-President, all former Presidents or ex-Heads of State, all former Chief Justices of Nigeria, the President of the Senate, all state governors and the Attorney-General of the Federation.

A Presidential official in Abuja disclosed to Punch that, “The truth of the matter is that if urgent step is not taken, Prof. Jega may end up ridiculing this country. Available information shows that the commission is not set for this election contrary to Jega’s claim.

“We learnt he actually summoned a meeting recently with a view to postponing the election but he is scared of the opposition who have been kicking against such. This Thursday (tomorrow) meeting will definitely review INEC’s preparations and take a stand.”

Another Presidency source said Jonathan might use the opportunity provided by the meeting to garner support for the postponement of the polls.

“The Presidency is not resting on its oars concerning the plan to shift the elections. It is already in talks with some members of the council.

“If the plan fails, we would opt for another plan, which is to return to the drawing board; plan a new strategy on how to deal with our opponents.” the source added.

After witnessing the low turnouts at his rallies, he is now convinced that he will lose, that's why he wants poll shift.

Low turn out at rallies, is not the same thing as people that will be disenfranchised, though i would not support the postponement of the elections coming from GEJ led government.

One thing is clear though, even if the election is postponed, it won't stop those that would vote for their preferred candidate, those that will vote for GMB/APC will vote for him and those that will vote for GEJ/PDP will vote for him...

INEC has not lived up to expectation, and if the elections will be postponed it should be coming from INEC itself and not the fg since INEC is tasked with anything election in the country...IMO

One by one, PDP don dey fear. I thought Omokri and Abati said GEJ will win with a margin? Whether they shift it by 10 years or not, when the time comes, this Otuokean who had no shoes but now rocks ferragamo and Pierre Cardin with our excess crude account, will go back to the fishing ports.

He is not serious..

Whatever it is they should allow people to vote with temporary voters cards where PVCs are not available.

Is it by force for this man to come back when it's obvious he has nothing to offer? I pity those who clamour for him. One minute the election date and May 29 is sacrosanct, the next minute it's not because the odds are against him

We say NO to election postponement. Let's have the election and get it over with!

This show how desperate the PDP camp is because they knew with the trend of things they will definitely loose this election and they have to blame JEGA now

So, all the meeting he had with the international community about the election holding on 14 of this month is just lies
How can I trust a man who lies with his lips about doing something positive when re-elected

He must be crazy.

He should shift the election day and see protest.

This will be tougher than subsidy removal protest.

Don't you ever play games with Nigerians.

We want this to just come and pass, I am tired of all this campaign ish.

$49 billion, $20 billion, $10.8 billon (from NNPC), N1.7 trillion (Illegal Subsidy payments), N21 billion (illegal donation), N10 billion (Allison's illegal flights), $49 billion per yr, N4bn presidential feeding, N10bn presidential air fleet maintanance,South Africa arm procurement scam deal, where the Nigerian's involved where not mentioned but the Israeli's name was mentioned, $13m patience jonathan money laundering case, overbudgeted N119bn for 2nd Niger bridge as against a replica constructed for N29bn by the Lagos state government, N968bn security budget, yet Boko haram has been maiming people, ransacking communities and having the numbers of IDPs rise geometrically, N35.4m to feed Aso rock lion's, N20bn pension scam, Immigration job scam, yet the culprit minister involved is still serving and enjoying his loot from the scam recruitment exercise, pardoning of convicted criminals like Bode george and Alameyhsia, Tompolo buying warships in an insane clime like Nigeria, asides the billions of Naira lost to oil bunkering. Just name all the scams and misappropriation of funds under this government, you will weep for Nigeria. They steal in billions of Naira. I wonder how a youth like me, who has an unborn gneration, will comfortably thumbprint for the PDP and jeopardize the future of the unborn all because of bias and false PDP propaganda. Vote for change. After 6years with high revenue, nothing was achieved. How will something be achieved in 4years with less cash inflow?

GEJ should declare his assets to Nigerians and the world at large, so we can all see how lucrative politics in Nigeria has been. GEJ is a scam, and I dare anybody with superior logic to enlighten my ignorance that this present administration isn't a hoax.

The earlier we drop the bias about ethnicity, religion, age to focus on demand for quality leadership from a selfless leader, the better. If people don't see that this administration has failed woefully, and there's a need to try some other person, then we will continue to wallow in abject poverty in this country. Poverty level in Nigeria has risen from 54% to 71%, youth unemployment from 9% to 50%, recurrent expenditure from 62% to 86%, national debt from $26bn to $70bn, whilst GDP growth has dropped from 11% to 6%, and excess crude account has dropped from $20bn to $2bn.

Everything is wrong with Nigeria. Just everything is going wrong. Lets be wise and vote rightly without bias!!!

This is my take...

I see no reason for them to even think of a possible postponement of the general elections. They have seen all through that it might not go in their favour and now they are looking for ways to boycott the situation. I heard on radio that they are even setting up a plan for interim government in case the result does not favour the ruling government.

What is this Nation becoming for crying out loud. We are the ones that will be there to lick whatever that is poured out for us. I would advice it is better we take the bull by the horn and dont let the repeat of June 12 happen to us again in this Nation. Then, Yorubas, Hausas and Igbos voted en mass for Abiola and at the end, those of us that remembered vividly what went wrong then are still crying for it today.

These politicians are the same. I believe if something is not working well, we should go for a CHANGE... Not by voting for APC all through but I have decided to cast my vote for CHANGE. Presidency will be APC, Lagos State - PDP, State House of Assembly - PDP and sorts of... That is my own definition of CHANGE.

They are all cabals. They are the same. Going there for their pocket but one thing is certain, everyone will want to do something better and I believe we all have the power to make changes in our environment... in our future... The vote will make will be the very first investment into the future of our children.

Please dont let us give them the opportunity to take us for a ride. Lets VOICE out when the time comes.... OCCUPY NIGERIA will be coming out soon as I see things and dont be pressed down... Talk the Talk!
