mormoni:yeah it Can be very deadly but not because its more poisonous/venomous than a snake; hippos have no venom. Its d subsequent infection of d wound That Is usually very difficult to control and Can eventually be fatal. |

Hippos are generally moody and territorial animals especially the females. For those who think hippos are extinct a visit to the kainji lake reserve in the morning or cool evenin could offer you a good view of them havin family time. Farmers around dat axis also complain abt them destroyin their farms. (Singing) H.I.p for the hip for the hipopo, P.o.p.o for the hipopo........ 2 Likes |

mormoni: what time frame are you looking at? those are not fresh wounds, and neither would a chief consultant describe a hippo's bite as poisonous. |

Dexema: might have been reintroduced. if they are indeed sunning themselves in full view of the public, oyinbos would have captured those pictures long before now. hippo is an english word, individual languages would have other names if they apply. |

Hippos have one of the strongest bite force, if not the strongest, in the animal kingdom and yet they're herbivorous animals. I just dey wonder which kind herbs them dey chop with that kind force. That the man's leg is still there is a serious miracle! 1 Like |

20pounds: The confidentiality is intact; no names, no faces..... A lot of visitors come to morning review/grand round and we hide names/faces when presenting cases.... This is Nigeria, we have a lot of porous borders.... And our health system too is in shambles, so we just make do with the little resources we have |

I have a video clip of an attack on a human by a female hippo. The hippo lunges towards the lady and bit her into two equal halves! It didn't take up to 1min....... I just wonder how that fisherman survived a tussle with a hippo for 30mins The other video clip was about a man who survived a hippo attack. The teeth of the hippo lacerated his body in 7 different spots.......I wonder how the hippo only bit the fisherman's right leg, but didn't inflict lacerations on his trunk. |

tpiah01:Well with the state of our tourism industry not a lot of pple would venture goin to the north (Niger state) + they only really come to shore in the cool of the evnin or early morn but u can still catch a glimpse of them in the water in the afternoons wich are usually hotter. PS: You also have to watch from a distance. |

Marc9: That was the first thing that came to my mind, am glad someone else spotted it.. It looks like an old wound, no sign of fresh bleed or lacerations, and the sorrounding skin looks like it has been dressed before.. Just my 2 Pence.. |

Tinyemeka:I hope so. We are facing difficulties managing him. We might probably amputate the leg. |
