she's pretending to be homely just because

Not realLy Sha o. In naija when a guy abuses his woman, she is automaticaly blaMed. People believe she pushed him to do it. Plus he will say she dumped him for a richer guy and will not see his abuse a sa problem rather she was the cause of the action.
If she leaves, most people will say, the next guy you are going to meet may be worse, our society does not teach women to stand up for themselves. Even a look into most NL topics will convince you about how women who decide to move on from abusive relationships are treated and adviced.
