Henry120: So if you did not concede ground... how then how are the Chadians liberating towns? How is your own army re-capturing towns? It is a well known fact that at the height of its power, Boko Haram occupied an area roughly the size of Belgium. We proved it was operational from day one, you clown, we reposted citation after citation and you refused to acknowladge it. You have had to resort to petulant trolling, and its disappointing. |

@Chief agaugust,henry,stillchris,naijapikingidi..what do you think about the latest development with ISIS? In the latest reports,we learnt that ISIS has now sprung up in libya{as expected}.libya is only 1500km away from our border, egypt is trying to contain the situation, but sadly isnt recieving necessary support. Do you think they are only aiming for north african arab nations,or have they decided that blacks muslims arent infidels anymore? We know that if ISIS harnesses the weapons and human resource in libya, mali, niger and chad, then they will be 10 times stronger, with over 2 million trained fighters to cause judicious amount of terror, making the ottoman brutality look like training drills. Our north alone has 60 million muslim{not counting the south},half of that number are innocent youths who can be easily radicalized. Do you think that we should take proactive measures of closing our borders and acquiring more military hardwares, especially long range missiles, stealth fighter jets and more wardrones? 1 Like |

http://itweb.co.za/mobilesite/defenceweb/home/item_id-38089/ by defenceWeb, February 20, 10:00 am Maritime Systems (OSI) has been awarded a contract to provide the South African Navy with Tactical-Asset Control and Tracking Systems (T-ACT) that will be installed on rigid-hull inflatable boats used to support maritime security operations. The Canadian company said the contract was signed earlier this month, but due to competitive and contractual obligations, OSI could not divulge further details.T-ACT is a navigation and command, control and communication suite designed for small craft operations, including maritime and boarder security agencies. The system can be used to coordinate the operations of multiple T-ACT fitted ships and smaller assets, in either an overt or covert manner.Fully scalable, T-ACT is a small craft human-machine interface (HMI) embedded with Electronic Chart Precise Integrated Navigation System (ECPINS) Small Craft - a variant of ECPINS designed specifically for use in confined space environments and with an emphasis on tactical navigation functionality, OSI said.Combined with a secure data link, communication is enabled beyond-line-of-sight between mother ships and small craft. The technology has been deployed by the UK, Australian and Canadian Navies.OSI Maritime Systems has been providing advanced integrated navigation and tactical solutions to military customers for over 20 years. The company develops and delivers integrated bridge systems for warships, integrated dived navigation systems for submarines, and command and control systems for small craft. OSI currently has 19 naval customers from around the world with over 500 warships and submarines operating with its integrated navigation and tactical solutions. 1 Like |

Patchesagain: Like i've consistently told you. Anti-terror Operations are going on in those areas. The Chadians have always been part of the multinational joint force, the MNJTF was formed 21 years ago. The chadians only temporarily pulled out, along with troops from Niger 2 days before the attack on Baga. Gambarou, baga, doron baga, malamfotori are all in the AOR of the MNJTF. A force organised, coordinated and led by the Nigerian military. Let me reiterate, no part of Nigeria has or was conceded to terrorists. At no point did terrorists did terrorists occupy an Area the size of belgium. Terrorists activities admittedly were more prevalent in some areas, but they at no point occupied/ controlled any part of Nigeria. Nope, you did not proof it was operational from day one, you only posted links to show plans to deploy such a system. Infact, I still have my doubts as to whether it is actually operational. |

EVarn: The continued deterioration of the security situation in Libya should be a major source of worry for our politicians and military. To think we participated in no small part to the current state of anarchy in libya is another reason why we need to actively take into cognisance the effects of our decisions/support. This is why deep interjection fighters like the SU-30/27/MIG-29smt shouldn’t be a luxury for the Nigerian Airforce, but a necessity. We don’t want to be caught flat-footed again. Or, we should expedite action on the JF-17, complete with air refuelling tankers. We can only be taken seriously if we take our security seriously. 1 Like |

Henry120:My thought exactly,we should not think that because arabs view blacks as inferior, then we are safe from ISIS expansionist movement.who knows if they have changed their minds and decided to start where boko haram stops. we not only need SU30s and JF-17s,we also need more transport helos, and frigates along with long range cruise missiles. |

Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by EVarn(m): 4:34pm On Feb 20, 2015 |
MikeCZAR:dont be dumb, perhaps that is what would have happened in another scenario, but with ISIS practically knocking on our doorstep,i dont think so. In a way,ISIS is a blessing in disguise.it would give our leaders enough incentive to continue arming and training our military.Nigeria has gotten a taste of terror in form of boko haram,we wouldnt want to be caught vulnerable in the claws of a greater demon- ISIS. after defeating boko haram, our next priority will be arming the military for armageddon.then defence agreement with algeria, egypt, niger, chad, sudan and tunisia{all bordering with libya} should also be sought.we need countries bordering libya to cooperate and work with us in flushing out ISIS and restoring sanity back to libya. if libya remains destabilized, then insurgency will always emerge in africa. Use you brain for once |

Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by EVarn(m): 8:18pm On Feb 20, 2015 |
MikeCZAR:a valid point, but one without basis.last year we approved US$2 000 000 000 for our military purchase, that is set to continue over the next 7-10 years, then there will be an increase until we achieve a defence budget worth 20% of our GDP,which means that by 2025,we will have a military budget of US$30 000 000 000. So you see,i very much doubt that ISIS will be organized enough to conquer the whole of libya, mali, niger and chad for the next at least 5 years.so that gives us time to arm, train, increase in size and strategize. |

Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by EVarn(m): 9:33pm On Feb 20, 2015 |
MikeCZAR:yes,by 2025,our defence budget will be 20% of our GDP{which will be US$1.4trillion by 2025},so that gives us US$30 000 000 000 as our annual defence budget as from 2025.but until then,we will continue spending between US$2 000 000 000-US$3 000 000 000 as our annual military budget. |

MikeCZAR: This is weak mike , make this thing interesting mate. Nigeria commissioned 4 vessels yesterday. NNS Centenary, Brand new stealth 96 meters OPV for the Nigerian Navy. 120 meters, High Endurance cutter which had an 8 million dollars up-grade. She (NNS Okpobana) is one of only 2 vessels on the continent that can circumnavigate Africa. What an Endurance. "The ship's capabilities are enhanced by advanced air search and surface search radars including the AN/SPS-73 digital surface radar system that incorporates a state of the art computerized collision avoidance system. She uses the Shipboard Command and Control System (SCCS) which uses a network of computers including large screen displays and a dedicated satellite network for communications. " OKPABANA incorporates a Regional Maritime Awareness Capability (R-Mack) system on board. “This system will link back to the NN wider R-Mack network and expand NN’s ability to track and identify vessels throughout the Gulf of Guinea”, he said. NNS Sagbama is a brand new 48 meters MPV gifted to the Nigerian Navy. NNS Prosperity is a training ship for cadets. |

MikeCZAR: The BTR-4E is by far the best IFV in service in SSA. This is a statistical fact. T-72AV's, T-72CZM1/2's, T-72b The Federal government through it's relief agencies caters extensively for IDP's. What a stup1d question............. they return back to building Africa's first Trillion dollars economy. we are currently at 526 billion dollars, still a significant proportion to go. |
