Thanks @ op. This was a business we wanted to purse about four years ago before my partner developed proverbial cold feet. I will take my time to do proper research before venturing out again. Once again, people should begin to do something positive with their lives, enough of this"entitlement mentality" .

Hello sir. I had no battery on my phone. Like I said, you can start with a bag of onions. If you are not the extravagant type, u will make it fast to 10 bags or more starting with a bag. All you need to do is to discuss with the market women that sells tomatoe\onions. Tell them you want to supply them onions or just tell them u have a bag of onions for sell. Before doing that dear, do your market survey. Find out the cost of a bag of onions in the major big markets in your location.
As for the profit margin, you have N2000 naira or more on a bag depending on the market or location.
Don't worry sir, all will work out fine for you.
Thank you.

Thanks a lot. I'd also like to know, how much is a bag of onions where you are and how much does it cost to transport it here? If I'm buying a bag for instance, how much will I need to transport it here so I can still make a profit?

Yeah, its true. Its really a nice business. I served in Niger state in a village called Kura, not far from a town called Salka which is not too far from Yauri in kebbi state. Salka is known for its beans business and a very large central market. People come from all over Nigeria and west Africa to buy beans and many other things in Salka. I remember buying a sack of Onions for just 500 naira. If I had sold them, I would av made more than 2000 naira as profit but I shared everything when I got home. Its tough bringing them to lagos but its very profitable. The village I served is also known for growing groundnut and its very profitable as well cos they extract grounnut oil from them.
bros, hw much u buy that fish?

Good morning all.

Like i said in my earlier post everyone will certainly join this business. Why is it difficult for people to sit and think of an idea that will be unique and different. There are many ideas lurking around just sit and think dry fish business, crayfish business these are items that abound you don't have to travel up north to venture into it.

I pray to be a manufacturer and not a copywriter.

Here is the breakdown sir.
A bag is N9500 for mixed onions and N 11,000 for big onions
The loading from the farm to the park (Alabaru) is N100 per bag
The sack and raffia is N200
Transportation - Trailer is N1200, J5 is N1500 and 18 seater is more.
Now a bag of onions in the market goes for N14,000, N15,000 or more depending on the state, location and market or even companies buying from you (supply).
So sir do your calculation yourself. Thank you sir.

Thanks a lot for this info. However, it seems one would need at least N13,000 per bag therefore N10,000 won't be enough to start as you initially mentioned. I believe at least N150,000 would suffice for a start for one to earn sufficient profit.

Ill work out a business plan and get back to you. Thank you once again
