The purpose of Nigeria's Navy is to protect our EEZ.

On the other hand, the purpose of the SA Navy is to take pictures.

Now i can clearly see your procurement isn't geared towards functionality, but on a need to take photos.
Yes, that's why it is a coast guard. Thanks for confirming.

The SAN is part of the SANDF, its main function is to provide combat ready systems or forces to the CSANDF not patrol.

Is it my problem that certain bloggers can't take nice pictures?

Nigeria has no threat of any hostile navy vessel, all we see are criminal pirates, so we can afford to reserve NNS Aradu and sail around in OPVs, a navy fights the war it sees, not the video game war it imagines.
Peace is the time between the ending and the start of a new war.

I now see! That's why BH caught you with your pants down, cause all you saw was MEND. grin grin grin grin

Your navy is a coast guard.

NNS Aradu crew aren't combat ready.

Valour frigate is NOT an OPV for constant patrolling and you already ruined 3 of them with engine fatigue grin

I proved Nigeria's Otomat missiles have not expired, other navies who bought Otomat same time with us are still test firing theirs very recently or still have them on board their warships like Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Venezuela.

Show us war and we will revive NNS Aradu with Otomat missiles, it's range is superior to your Valour frigates overrated Exocets
.
The engines are replaced during refit.

Your Otomats expired along ago!

Your surface fleet within 5 hours will be wiped out, enemy combat ships will now be hitting your financial pockets AKA oil installations.

Some of the weapons I will list have not been disclosed before now. A colleague in the same profession has the list already and I will get it.
Ok,i'll keep my limbs crossed then.

The Ratel is better than the BTR-4E

20mm cannon.
23mm cannon.
90mm assault gun.
Ingwe missile.
60mm mortar.
81mm mortar.
LMG(s).
Water storage.

You can't deploy those BTR-4E in real conventional battles again where communications, command and control are vital.

Fool, you don't have all those weapons combined on any single Ratel, those are for different versions.

Same way BTR-4E has versions for all those kind of guns and mortar, however as a modern 2010 IFV the BTR-4 combines 30mm cannon plus 40mm automatic grenade launcher plus anti-tank missiles on one single BTR-4.....a feat which your obsolete 1980 Ratel CANNOT perform.

You started messing up this thread again and I will just go back ignoring the thread until your season of m.adness is over

Why the stones...... you forgot to add brakes grin grin grin?

The Olifant tank is a 1940's museum relic grin grin get that dinosaur out of this thread.

Until you can provide evidence, the BTR-4E is, and still remains the best IFV in SSA.

30mm cannon
ATGM capable
Amphibious, all terrain vehicle.

Nothing comes close to the all round operational capability of the BTR-4E.

Henry, yet again I have to tell you that evidence has been provided.

The Badger is superior in every way except to speed.

6 are currently in service, a further 16 are being sent over from Finland before the first one rolls off the South African production line later this year

The Olifant Mk 1 A/B and Mk2 is about as advanced as your T72

Nigeria has 51 capital vessels in service.

So much for training for "high intensity" warfare with your SUB spending 7 years at the Docks, or with your A109's spending more time grounded in 2014, and of course, your 9 Gripen pilots for 26 planes.

"You're actually very well prepared."

On the other hand, the Nigerian Navy has built a comprehensive security architecture which allows for a comprehensive surveillance of our EEZ using long range camera's, satellites, ships and air-borne assets all connected to the wider RIMPAC network using a series of data links.

Can we say the same for SA........ NO!

We upgraded that sub ourselves for the first time ever - so obviously there was a big learning curve and it took time.

But while that one sub was being worked on... we had 2 other submarines performing operations. How many do you have?

A109's are not the only helicopter we operate, they are more advanced than any helicopter you operate and at this point in time we still operate more helicopters than you.

18 Gripen pilots and 52 Hawks pilots (you jelly brah?)

Nigeria has built a coast guard, not a navy

South African army is worse, about 230 units of Olifant tanks in SANDF, only 26 units have modular armour and it is not all round protection, only the vital areas have modular passive armour, the other parts of your re-welded and re-painted 1970s old generation tanks have ordinary welded steel RHA armour that Boko Haram will penetrate with HEAT warhead shoulder carried RPG.

Over 200 SANDF Olifant tanks are still having the ancient 1940s invented steel armour....your tank force of those 200 will all be k.illed by 5 Nigerian T-72 tanks with ERA armour in 30 minutes.

You should look well at your obsolescent army arsenal before you talk, get it ?

First, you have less than 26 T-72's

Second the Olifant Mk1 A/B and Mk 2's are just as capable (if not more) than your T-72's

And we are going to be replacing them... you bought new tanks and got relics... pfft... peasants

SAN has no flat bottom swamp patrol crafts, no high speed radar guided ocean interceptors, no long endurance patrol vessel, no stealth IPV, no stealth MPV, no stealth OPV.

Go kiss your canvas shoes in the mud !

Good thing we dont have any swamps to patrol! Also, what is a Namacurra class?

We do have high speed interceptors, they live on the valour class and they are called lynx's

15, 000 km range (and the ability to re-fuel and re-arm at sea from the Drakensburg) makes the Valour class pretty long endurance

No stealth IPV? Ok, and so? We have IPV's and we are getting another 3.

No stealth OPV? and so? We have OPV's and we are getting another 3.

Nigeria has no operational missile armed warships, no submarines, no conventional warfighting abilities, no supply vessels, no ability to project force, no ASW capabilities.

You dont have a navy, you have a coast gaurd

Engines wear out naturally, especially ones as advanced as those on the valour class - they get replaced with re-fit, this is normal.

Valour class operate just fine as patrol vessels, and you are right, they arent an OPV... they are frigates cool

As we have proven (thanks SIPRI) you only have Otomat Mk1 with 60km range... our missiles have a 72km range

And no, you have been unable to revive old man Aradu in the last 10 years, you wont magically revive him now.

On monday after the battle ended on Sunday General Shoke(CSANDF) held a press brief, telling South Africans the troops are still on the ground and that the military was awaiting further instructions from its political masters.

This while Gripens, Rooivalks, a battalion and more systems were being deployed around CAR so is the president said "Go" Seleka already mauled would be wiped in hours.

What was shocking? South Africa for the first since withdrawing from Namibia deploying its combat aircraft outside its boarders? Yes shocking!

Also the troops fought from Friday to Sunday! No running away. Unlike some whom run out of ammo within 2 hours of a battle.

Fact is your soldiers desert pure cowards! No command and control!

You keep recycling the same old tired story.

Fact, you begged the french for safe passage to the Airport. Troops deployed in the DRC for a UN mission in the eastern DRC are not a QRF.

No systems were deployed around CAR. Your Generals sh1t their pants anytime the word Seleka is pronounced.

Your Generals, just like your troops on the ground are a bunch of pathetic cowards.

You claimed to have killed 1500 Seleka members, but Seleka still took over the capital the very next day.

First of, You did not upgrade any sub. Fact remains while you told multiple lies about your fleet been all operational, you sub was spending 7 years at the Dock.

Nigeria operates 12 A109, 19 in total if we add Navy A109's, all of them maintained in cavernton's A109 facility here in Nigeria. Yet we have always had ours flying, while yours are always grounded.

For attack, Nigeria has 30 MI-35P/m/24v Helicopters in service, while 6 MI-35m and 12 up-graded MI-35 helicopters are still on order from Russia and belarus.

For the same attack role, Nigeria has gazelle and armed Super-Puma Helicopters.

While South-Africa only 10 helicopters to cover an over 1.2 million square kilometre area.

You see how pathetic your SAAF is!!

You do not have 18 Gripen Pilots, you have 9 pilots and 9 navigators for 26 planes. This is after 16 years of your signing your Gripen contracts.
